A few issues:

-Connected to an LG 4K monitor (27UL850) via USB-C (once you go one-cable you can't go back!); it works as expected BUT I occasionally experience flickers in brightness. It's only a little annoying, but seeing other posts I think there are still many glitches with the usage of an external display on these chips

-Don't know if this is a byproduct of the M1 SoC or Lightroom running through Rosetta, but after trying both the 8GB and 16GB RAM version of the MBP, Lightroom seems to be using the maximum amount of RAM it can *regardless* of whether or not you have 8 or 16, for the exact same workflow, with only slight differences in performance. Swap used is insane, sometimes writing up to 1-10TB a day with big workloads

Anyone using Logitech Flow? Seems to not work correctly with M1 devices?! Sometimes I can swap machines by "pointing the cursor to the edge of the screen" but most of the time it does nothing. Tested with a Mac mini M1 and a PC both using the newest Logitech options app.
I'm not using flow, since I only have one machine at my desk, but I am using the MX Master Keyboard and MX Master 3 Mouse and sometimes different buttons or scroll wheels seem to not work at all or lag for many seconds. I wonder if the Logi Options app is designed for intel and not processing everything correctly for the M1.

Even with these issues, I still enjoy the mouse way more than the magic mouse. I wish I would have switched years ago.

New bug found: when you double-click on any browser (safari) page on a photo and press on the bottom on "Copy image" and then paste it in Skype, you actually get the Image address, as if you clicked on "Copy Image Adress" above.
So "Copy Image" works for me only in Notes, Text Editor and other Mac Native Apps. On Skype (what I need regularly) I just don't get the photo in the chat but only its address.

Big Sur bug, not M1

I have the keyboard and MX Master 2 and still waiting for my MBP. Are you connecting over bluetooth, or using the Logitech USB dongle?

My AirPods Pro have crazy connection issues with my MBA M1. Constantly disconnecting and I have to manually connect them back. Also the auto switch between iPhone and MB is not really working. Someone else?

1. My MBP M1 mouse cursor stays in one spot in Big Sur even though it looks like the cursor is working. Has anyone had this phantom non-functional mouse cursor that occurs randomly? For example out of 6 reboots, 1 reboot causes the random phantom non-functional mouse cursor. This happens with the touchpad and with my Logitech MX Anywhere 2S mouse.

2. Sometimes my Samsung M2835DW wireless printer prints symbols and does not print anything on pages thus leaving blank pages. My printer is using AirPrint drivers. Should I use the generic PCL Mac printer driver for now since there is no Big Sur drivers as of yet for my printer? This printing issue does not happen on my Windows laptop.

I am not sure if this is only on M1 but I have no experience with other MacBooks.
My AirPods Pro are always default Mic on my MBA M1. This is a huge issue, since first of all the APP have a much worse Mic than the built-in MBA. So in Sound Settings I change the Mic to the MBA built-in mic... I have a Skype conference and after one Skype conference I have a break and my APP disconnect.. after that my Mic is again set to the AirPods Pro.... super annoying and makes no sense (also because when you speak with the Mic of the APP the last 20-40% less on battery)

You can fix this with Automator and have a menu item in the Services menu.

Open Automator
Choose New Document->Quick Action click the choose button
Search for Run AppleScript
Drag Run AppleScript to the main window
Replace (* Your script goes here *) with:

tell application "System Preferences"
activate
end
tell
tell
application "System Events"
tell process "System Preferences"
delay 1
click the menu item "Sound" of the menu "View" of menu bar 1
delay 1
click the radio button "Input" of the first tab group of window "Sound"
set myRows to (every row of table 1 of scroll area 1 of tab group 1 of window "Sound")
set myTextFields to (text field 2 of every row of table 1 of scroll area 1 of tab group 1 of window "Sound")
set i to 0
repeat with rowTextField in myTextFields
set i to i + 1
set myRow to item i of myRows
if value of rowTextField is "Built-in" then
select myRow
end if
end repeat
end tell
end
tell
tell
application "System Preferences"
quit
end
tell

Save as Choose Built-in Mic
You might have to allow accessibility access for Automator in System Preferences Security & Privacy->Privacy

Because there is supposedly a Touch Bar under the F keys. Apple just stuck keys on top of it for those that don’t like the bar.

;)
You joke, but years ago (decades LOL) I had a Quadra which had the video inputs from the more expensive Quadra AV hidden behind a backplate. It was cheaper for Apple to just cover those ports.

I will test this later, would be awesome if it works. Thanks!

I came across something new: I was just working on the dining table when the noon sun shined very bright on the screen. The screen brightness went automatically all up to show a good readable screen. But all of a sudden the screen brightness went to the lowest (first I thought my screen went off) and its appeared of course almost dark.
I had to switch back manually with the F keys. This happened 3 times within one hour.
Someone else had this?

Another oddity of Big Sur that only happens on my M1 Macs is that some apps in Launchpad suddenly and automatically moved out of the Other folder.

I just ran it and got multicore score of 7291 with no apps open, and while displaying an external 4K monitor. I have the MBA M1 512GB storage version with the extra core.

So I ended up returning the M1 and picked up a new one. This one gets around 7400 on Cinebench, so the previous one must have been defective somehow. I think it was worth returning it for an extra ~15% improvement in multi-core performance.

Has this been mentioned? Probably a Big Sur thing but my M1 Mac mini doesn't remember Window positions and sizes. Big Sur 11.1

I have the issue that my devices dont sync the “mark as read” in messages but also notifications. I read an Mail on my iPhone and then on my Mac this mail still appears as unread. Also with messages, sane iCloud account

Yeah it seems iCloud syncing is really broken - on BS but it seems especially on m1. I can’t get safari cloud tabs working.

M1 doesn’t show Apple Pay as associated with the machine.

Also wrong MacBook icon (old 2009 MBP).

Weird case. The old one might have been just within spec but I wouldn't have kept it either. And if was a problem with the heat spreader or thermal paste, it would probably get worse over time. I wonder what passes QC though. Being 10%-15% slower than the average seems a little out of bounds.

I have a MBA M1 8/256 base purchased four days ago running macOS Big Sur 11.1. Last night I was watching HEVC H.265 videos from my Synology Plex server using the Safari web player. The videos were freshly encoded using Windows 10 HandBrake 1.3.3. The Synology Plex server was not transcoding. After a few minutes, the video would begin to stutter and eventually the MBA would freeze requiring a shutdown by long pressing the power button. This happened multiple times.

The same video had no issues with my 2019 MBP 16". I tried the desktop Plex app on the MBA with the same video and it worked fine. The desktop Plex app is compiled for Intel, not universal. I installed macOS Big Sur 11.2 beta on the MBA this morning and the Safari web player issues are gone.
