i have 2 x m1 and an intel 2017 as well as 2 adapter. demonstrated the issue occurs with each M1 but not the intel. My expectations of a fix is low.
I thought of another test that you can test the connection / problem.
Unfortunately, I can no longer do it, the notebook goes back to Apple
Take a Thunderbolt cable 1:1 (eg the 2 meters of Thunderbolt cable from Apple). Connect it to the Thunderbolt adapter on the M1. Connect the other end to the Thunderbolt display. (The screen has a free port for it.)
The error should normally be identical... (Logically, Mr. Spock would say.) But the thuderbold cable from the monitor may be older and may have an older CHIP in it. (Then it would be fascinating...if it changes anything.).....
Can someone test this here ?

I came up with this idea because I need a longer cable for the Thunderbold screens when I put them on the wall (Vesa adapter).
Then I use the cable from the screens only for the coupling of the two screens, the connection between screen and mac-device I would then make with the 2 meter long cable.
Should work the same way. The MagSafe adapter from the screen can unfortunately no longer be used anyway. Although the performance should be sufficient for M1.
Here there is also no adapter for it... Too bad also here Apple has not thought.

Another problem with the M1 that I observed was with FaceTime, where there were problems with the built-in camera in the screen. Sometimes the picture was taken in SlowMotion....
Photobrooth had no problems with the camera.
I do not have these errors with Intel and in previous OSX versions.

Also the performance of many programs with the M1 & Rosetta is slower than Intel Mac (2 years old).
For me, the M1 (MAX) is currently not a solution but only money destruction and I as a user become a beta tester.
....and spend the money only on energy efficiency ? ... a little too few features...ok... the fans are of course also a small problem with the Intel Mac´s
)))
Since I have to wait for M2 / M3 (if apple should still be there.)
Uff..
