In my opinion, the best option would be a combination of external storage and a dust filter. Obviously I would want too much, but basically just the filter would be enough. Speaking of the filter. Can you judge how well or how poorly the mini M4 will clean?

I was never a fan of the Mini. Always saw it as an underpowered device. The M4 Mini with its pricing changed all that. I was in the market for a mini PC to be used with a portable monitor and strictly as a secondary computer. But I just got a M4 Mini because it will easily last 10 years whereas Mini PCs will be fried within 2-3 years because of the components inside frying themselves over time. So you get $0 back on it over time. So upfront cost the M4 Mini is more but when I sell it in 4-5 years from now and get 40% back, the cost will be lower to own the Mini than any Mini PC.

I was watching a YouTube video and they said that the M4 Mini base model is one of the best values for computers right now. I would have to agree. So much value in it.

Dust filter? Put the Mini under a shelf or monitor stand and there's your dust filter. This is what I will be doing.

This power button needs an accessory. Someone needs to design a $300 robot to lift it up, and turn in on and off.

Besides that troubling problem, I want a case! A case made for this. Not some lame 'it sorta fits' case, but a custom case. They made these for the previous model (they had a lot of time to do this), and even Waterfield had a fancy one.

You can always plug the Mini into a on/off switch with a remote. I have lots of these, usually use them for lights and fans so that I don't have to walk to them to power on or off.

this is what I use, have about 12 in the house. No issues with them.

It's also super easy to find cases for the Mini on Amazon. Lots of hard cases that fit it perfectly.

I don’t understand making this a storage only thing
As long as your making something that goes on top or under under Mac mini , add a few extra ports
You’re right I used this on my old Mac Mini M1, I tried the storage base think, wasn’t great so I bought this. Just sits next to my M4 Pro.

works great for my setup, plus has 2 usb a ports, 1 usb c and 2 DP ports.

The first actual render that I've seen is from RayCue.

Only USB-C, and doesn't ship for a month... but still.

That is all fine with the footprint to fit the new Mac Mini M4 and all the ports and ability to install a SSD inside of it.

But, the problem with access to the Power Button on the bottom of the Mac Mini M4 is NOT resolved with this.

Unless Raycue is working on including the ability WHEN they finally release this hub.

Time will tell, I guess.

I mean, is there actually an issue with accessing the power button? As in, do you own the M4 and are experiencing issues, or are you just repeating what you have heard at the conceptual level?

Yes, I have the Mac Mini M4 and currently have it sitting on top of two inches of riser pads so that I can access the power button withour lifting the unit. If it's not an issue for you, fine.

If you look carefully at the render in the back left, there appears to be a small hole where the power button is, no?? Looks like they are planning to have something you press on the back of the dock that pops up from underneath to actuate the power button.

I don't see it in the rendering but anyway, the Power Button is at the Bottom Left Hand Rear of the unit.

Yes….. exactly where the hole in the rendering is for something to protrude up and hit the power button.
Good Eye!!!...so, maybe they will include a "Rod with the Lever" down to the Power Button...I'm sure that they are smart enough to include that feature...can't wait to see what they finally sell...thanks for the input...

The peripheral I really want, if we can call it peripheral, is a mount to place the Mac mini under my table, granting it a better air intake and exhaust, as well as making easier to press the power on button. However, it is compact and pretty enough to not bother me having it at plain sight on my desk.

This is what I'm waiting for as well. Under desk mount, but you're right. It's on my desk now, and doesn't bother me much at all due to the small size.
