Hey guys I have my own question if I clone my MacBook Pro harddrive with Mavericks can I use the patch to patch it up so my Mac Pro 2.1 could put the cloned harddrive?
Yes. The most failsafe procedure would be:
1. Open iTunes and deauthorize your current computer. Close iTunes.
2. Clone your HD using CCC, SuperDuper or similar.
3. After the clone has been made, replace the boot.efi files on the clone.
4. Boot up the Mac Pro with the clone, re-authorize iTunes in the MacBook.
5. Authorize your Mac Pro in iTunes, set up iCloud/iMessages.
6. Apply 10.9.1 to the Mac Pro (does not matter if it is already running 10.9.1 or not. Apply it again if unsure).
7. (on the Mac Pro) run the Disk Utility, fix permissions.

Hi I did the clone :) but I cant replace the boot.efi files :/

Tiamo's boot.efi works perfect in mountain lion on Mac Pro 2,1!

Thank you, Tiamo, for great work! It works, with sleep mode, and all features. I had some problems during installation, but it works, finally!

Some notes - maybe it will be helpful for somebody.

When I made bootable USB-drive with ML and changed boot.efi, corrected platformsupport.plist and other needed files, It didn't work for me, with mac os "Stop" sign. So, I boot from this bootable USB-drive on my MBP (on my MBP it loads), take hdd from my MacPro, connect it to MPB by sata-usb interface like an external hdd and install 10.8 on it. After that I put hdd back to Mac Pro, and tried to start, but "Stop" sing appeared. After that I connect my hdd to MBP once again, change boot.efi manually, correct platformsupport.plist (my previous changes disappeared, maybe i did something wrong with it before) and repair disk permissions in DiscUtility in usb-boot mode. I put my hdd to it place in mac pro - and IT WORKS on my 2007 Mac Pro with PC ATI 5870 with patched rom!

All 3 displays work, OpenCL 3,2 works, great!

Thank you Robert for your reply. Is there anything I can do to install Mavericks to my macbook(early 2008, MB403) then?

Your MacBook is already 64 bit capable, so does not need this boot loader.

The reason your MacBook cannot run Mavericks is more to do with there being no 64 bit graphics drivers for the Intel x1300 in your MacBook.

Nice thread hijack btw!

10.9.1 with Tiamo's boot.efi for sure

I could login iCloud, but not with FaceTime and iMessage.

This used to be a VERY common problem when people used to use the Chameleon bootloader to install either Mountain Lion or Mavericks, which is why I asked the question.

Your problem occasionally happens even with supported Macs, and two of the things that help cure the issue are to make sure that your Mac is authorised on your iTunes account ie It is one of the the five computers allowed on your account, and if it is already authorised on the account, to add a credit card to the account.

I have never had the problem with any of my supported or Tiamo bootloader Macs, so I cannot say if those above suggestions work or not.

Regards,

-Rob

Thanks for the clarifying.

My MacPro 1,1 was upgraded from 10.7.5 to 10.9.1.
It was normal to login iCloud, FaceTime, and iMessage in 10.7.5.
And I saw someone were also successful after installing 10.9.
I have also tried to login in a clean-install 10.9.1, but still the same issue.

There's a third option that did work for me: do as Messages says and call Apple.

Hi yes I do have a permission problem I cant change them so I can remove the boot.efi files.

I had that problem too, and the terminal commands in reply #12 on this page in another thread did it for me. And reply #13 has a simpler method which I haven't tried.

Here is the picture of my set up :) Tiamo you are one smart guy that is crazy how you came up with that :O

I have, and it works just fine. ie The principle of using 'sudo rm -f' to remove the boot.efi in both places on the cloned drive.

REMEMBER You want to do it on the cloned drive NOT your boot drive.

Hi I figured that out on my own :) Wow I still can't believe that it worked.

Hi thank you so much for helping me out :) It worked wow :)

I honestly can't believe it worked with "System Serial #" instead of a real one, LOL :) Congrats!
BTW - remember to be prepared for another round of boot.efi replacing when 10.9.2 comes out. It WILL replace your current "hacked" boot.efi files, so you will need to fix them again.

Any progress?

Good work and thanks for this download. I had a couple questions:

1. I was wondering if you'd had any progress since this post, particularly on the wireless part
2. Are these the same problems that I would face on a MacMini 2,1 if I tried the Moutain Lion PostFactor install?
3. The PostFactor install generally has a complicated process of installing Lion, creating various partitions, upgrading, and running the PostFactor install. Could I not just install ML/Mavericks to an external drive and run PostFactor on that drive?

Are you sure you are in the right place?!?

Yes I saw that lol All of you were great help :) I cant believe that Apple wasn't willing to come up with a simple fix to allow any new OS X to work on any apple hardware :/ I been missing around with my computer and running stuff and it works great I haven't had no issues :) Yes I am looking forward towards 10.9.2 or just stay with 10.9.1 for now :)

Mac Pro 1,1

I have a Mac Pro 1,1. I need clarification on installing Tiamo's boot.efi. Can I install boot.efi on my current boot Mac OSX drive? After I update my drive, can I install Maverick?

In answer to your first question, there's no need for it - assuming you mean your Mac Pro 1,1's drive.

…and the second, installing Mavericks would overwrite it during the install process.
