Congrats getting it working, and a big future thank you for the forth coming recipe.

It seems a key feature to supporting Sierra features is WiFi and bluetooth. Why I want either on a desktop is beyond me, but there are PCI cards that support both if you want that stuff.

Can't say I've had any issues with the card. IIRC it was just the cheapest we could get at the time. No plans to upgrade but I'll keep it In mind.
It's currently running 2 screens

Could you tell me more information about the upgrade. Thanks
As stated in the Thread: Install Sierra on a supported machine and throw the Disk in the 3.1 - thats all. Eventually fiddle around with the GPU drivers if you have a non natively supported GPU.

as it seems the bcm94321mc wifi card is not supported. But thats an easy swap.

What wifi cards are ?

Thanks your information, my GPu is GTX680 with flashed and my cMP didn't had wifi card, so may I know do you think we can use the clone image ?

Do you think theres any likelihood apple may change their minds and support this machine.
I know its old, but it seems eminently capable.

^^^^If the Odds Makers in Las Vegas or London would take a bet on that, I'd put down a bunch of money on NO!

Boom - all sorted. Now running my GTX950 card on Sierra MacOS using my 34" DELL monitor at 3440 x 1440. Everything is now operational. Siri is nice on the computer. I've already asked her to perform a number of searches for me in google :)

what did you have to do to get the nvidia card to work? mine wont switch to the web driver

I had to disable SIP.

To disable SIP, you need to boot into the recovery partition, open TERMINAL and type this:

csrutil disable

then shutdown. Obviously to be able to perform that function you'll need an EFI bootable graphics card. Once you've typed in csrutil disable, and you've shut down, replace the card back with your PC based card, and you should find that the NVIDIA driver works fine.

Hi,

I install 10.12 on an external drive but in boot, i have the no-boot sign.
I have a 5870 video-card.

Before trying all the steps of tutorial, can i do something easier ?

What interface does the external drive have? Is the drive itself actually bootable?

Does this mean that a Mac Pro 4,1 will run Sierra unmodified without any of this?

Mine has an ATI HD5770 w/ 1024mb. With Yosemite, my Mac Pro refused to recognized which display was the main startup display which turned it into a brick unless I turned my HDTV on and switched to the Mac to correct the display orientation each boot. That was maddening. It was finally fixed in El Capitan.

But personally, I still think Mavericks is more stable than El Capitan, at least as far as bluetooth crashes which drive me nuts daily on El Capitan.

^^^^IMU that a cMP 4,1 will run sierra just fine when the firmware has been updated to a 5,1.

Got it running on my MacPro 3,1 via installing on USB with my MBP then editing the Supported Models plist.
Of course WIFI doesnt work.
Will this update with Apple updates?

Anyone know how to get the public beta without the App Store, this 3.1 can't get it that way.
