Yes. And creating an LLC is cheap and easy to do. If you dedicate one room of your home to your LLC and Mac Pro, then all expenses related to that room are expenses to deduct. All office supplies you use for the LLC are deductible as well. And as you say, 'items' of any type that are legitimately used by you for your LLC and approved by the IRS are allowed. You might think that lap dance is important to the running of your LLC, but the IRS would not think so. Use common sense. An LLC structured company also shelters your family and your other life from any damages incurred by your LLC. That is a very good reason to have one. Not trying to give you business advice on a Mac Pro thread.... but a Mac Pro and XDR are allowed by the IRS for an LLC whose purpose is or has computer related business activity.
Not located in the USA, so no idea what triggers the IRS, but in general in other countries:

All of that implies that you have a business ... as in you have paying customers. No customers, no income, no taxes (also nothing to deduct from those taxes) and eventually questions from the taxman wanting to know what your "business" actually is.

I am not a tax professional, but in the U.S., a business can generally show no profit for up to two years before being presumed to be a non-deductable hobby (this is because many businesses struggle for a few years before becoming profitable). In those years, the losses can generally be deducted from normal income (assuming you are a sole proprietor). However, when there is no profit, one should certainly be very, very careful, as additional scrutiny should be anticipated.

Now, if there's no sign of any business activity at all (no income, no documented efforts to secure income, etc.), vs. no net profit, then no, I wouldn't dream of trying to deduct anything as a business expense.

It's pretty clear Apple is betting on MicroLED across all their products. It's just going to come down to when.

It's pretty clear? No, though of course they are interested in its potential. Except in one-off tech demos (rather poor ones so far!), microleds patterned dense enough for a phone or desktop display - especially anything bigger than a watch face - are many years off, and it's far from clear that it will ever be even remotely be economical enough to compete in price with OLEDs, again perhaps except for the very smallest displays, e.g. for an in-camera viewfinder display or maybe a watch face. (A staggeringly-expensive "wall", with far, far larger pixels than a phone would need, is currently more manageable.)

I'm all for it if it ever comes to fruition, but I'm not going to hold my breath for it.

Should be clear in that any company you create should be structured to make a profit - and should be showing profit at some level. Also keep in mind that - using the last data I know - 2016 - out of ~ 1.6 million corporate tax returns, only 51% were returns that had positive “net incomes,” and only 32% were returns that had positive “incomes subject to tax.” It should be the goal of any business to have enough expenses to bring their tax liability to zero and the majority do in one way or another. If you have the Mac Pro 7.1 and XDR, that's enough firepower to start a lot of different types of entry level businesses - from online tutoring/teaching/webinars to maintaining a Youtube business channel - even if you don't make enough reportable income for a 1099. Doesn't matter. Report your income and take the loss for your equipment. Keep all records. The Mac Pro 7.1 and most other Macs create great opportunities for anyone to start a company.

That’s basically what my CPA said, she doesn’t want to raise any red flags she use to be a IRS auditor for 10 years. We can easily explain away a Mac Pro for online school courses related to Mac work and has variety of uses. But the display is like unless you are doing specific Photo Editing for a print or publishing business.

Heck even video editors can’t justify it. I’d like to see a Side by side with the Top 2 Monitors next to an Apple XDR Display the BenQ32 has HDR and 10-bit Color Id like to see if people could be fooled as to which was which by adding a shroud of fabric around the monitors.

The IRS will NEVER compare whether you could have used a $6K or a $1K monitor for your work. That's not what auditors do nor is it what an audit is intended for. They look for different things like, did you write off a car when your work doesn't require you to drive? In other words, are you trying to bury personal expenses under a business deduction.

So, unless your business requires you to be driving a substantial portion of the time, the Tesla Model X is going to raise a lot more red flags in an audit than a $6K monitor.

Not in MacOS.
There is no support for it, unlike the smaller UP2715K.

I have the UP3218K on my desk right now and it is being fed by a VEGA FE with dual DP1.4 cables. Although it only uses a single DP1.4 input and is limited to 7680x4320@30Hz (4K HiDPI).
If you want 60Hz at 8K you are limited to 8-bit or 48Hz at 8K for 10-bit with dual DP1.4 inputs.
Have you dared to try the new 10.15.4 beta? It fixes a lot of enterprise bugs we’ve been having, particularly with AD. Maybe they also enabled 8K@60? One can only hope.

Not yet. I doubt they would implement it out of their good hearts unless many people requested the feature. I've personally sent numerous feedback mails with regards to the UP3218K but never heard back.

So I’m asking everyone here, What Display or Displays will you guys and girls be Using ?
Maybe a better word than "afford" would be "justify".

I can certainly afford a couple of XDR displays (my checking account could easily do two with stands without shuffling funds), but there's no way to justify that expenditure.

I have just got my new mac pro (2019) and have connected up this ultrawide samsung monitor via hdmi
However I am not getting the 144 hz refresh rate that it says on the box:-
Displays:

C49HG9x:

Resolution: 3840 x 1080

UI Looks like: 3840 x 1080 @ 59 Hz

I have 2 of these
AMD Radeon Pro Vega II Duo (Slot 3, GPU 2):

Guys, I'm looking for a 27"or larger display for my nMP and do you guys have any recommendation other than XDR?

By the way, is the LG 27"5K display still a good buy since the technology already 2+ years old

depends extremely what your requirements are.
Eizo is a good choice if you need reliant colors. But most models offer no HiDpi

Im using a HPZ27 (32 available too)
I’m happy with it. Overall colors and contrast are very good (not measured just a subjective opinion)

The Dell UP3218K is great and comes factory calibrated with the measurements included on paper and signed.

4K HiDPI looks amazing on the 32” monitor. Downside is that we are currently stuck at 30Hz refresh rate because Apple being Apple.

I'm using an older NEC PA301W and an HP Z32, the latter for full 4K display. I like'm both. A lot. If I had to choose one over the other, I'd take the Z32.

It seems like the many votes on the HP Z27 or Z32, I might consider it though.

Is the 30Hz refresh rate only happen on 32" monitor or all 3rd party monitors?

Can't wait to hook-up my LG 38WK95C-W (38", 3840 x 1600 Pixels). Looks already great on my 5,1. Excellent screen and a huge amount of workspace. Maybe I'll get another one...

the HP27 or 32 are both come with a USB-C cables wich gives me 60Hz on my Mac Pro 2019 (HDMI or DP work too with 60HZ)

It only happens on the Dell 8K monitor because it requires two DP1.4 cables to run 7680x4320 pixels @ 60Hz.

If I take 2 DP1.4 cables from my nMP then I should be getting 7680x4320 pixels @ 60Hz, right? By the way, is it worth to get 8K monitor now?

I wish it is a 4K monitor though.

Great! Currently I already have a Asus 4K monitor, and thinking that would it weird if 32"monitor sitting next to a 27"monitor? I meant 32"monitor should be taller than 27"monitor, right?
