Update: Room is much more alive with plants + color over the white white walls. Even only if my big corn plant is just peeking into the shot on the right!

A brief moment of clarity...

When my office is clean, I thought I'd celebrate the moment.

Sorry, I don't follow this forum too closely.

Isn't your neck going to lean to the right a little after continuous usage? I don't know how you can have your chair facing away from your display like that...

He's left handed. So the chair will face the monitor mostly while he manages the KB with one hand - looks like.

I am indeed left-handed, but I type with both hands. I moved the monitor a bit further to the left after taking this photo. I think that desk was only a day or so old when the photo was taken. My neck is just fine.

By the way... nice shot.... what did you take this with?

Thanks. I shoot with a Nikon D700 and I used a 14-24 f2.8 for that photo. EXIF information should be in the photo. I think I used an off camera strobe shooting into a white umbrella for lighting. Judging from the shadows, it was to my left.

Taken on a T-Mobile G1, sorry!

Bedroom setup in my new city apartment. No room to spread out at all! Needs some colour on the walls too...

What's the Samurai sword for?
When you get mad at the computer?!? :p

Heck no!

The katana is there for the computer's use! Seriously - city apartment? People break into those places. The KatanaPro (connected via FW800) is the perfect security solution for your MacPro! :D

Nice Wacom screen, BTW.

Just finished moving into my new house, here's my setup:

P.S. I don't want to hear any whiners about how big the picture is, I'm on my 10" Netbook and can see it just fine! ;)

For security, and cos it looks cool? :D I doubt I could ever use a sword on an intruder if it came to it... might swap it for a baseball bat. My apartment's pretty damn secure, anyway.

That wall clock is awesome jnc.

Thanks!

Yep... littleclockshop.com as ironfixxxer said. They do 'em in black or white. I saw someone else on another thread with one, and had to have it... :D

Pictures of my new Mac Pro

I have been using MacRumors for a while now... I have mainly used it as a resource to follow-up on technical issues related to Mac's. When it came time to build my new Mac Pro I did a lot of research here. Here is what I came up with:

Mac Pro Quad Core Nehalem 2.66
6 GB RAM
80 GB Intel SSD Boot Drive
1 TB Western Digital Caviar Black Data Drive
640 GB Western Digital Caviar Blue Data Drive
EVGA GeForce GTX 285 1 GB
2 x Apple 30" Cinema Display

Let me say this Mac Pro is wicked fast. Once again, thanks for everyone's help in providing objective information. I have added some pictures for your viewing pleasure.

Very nice! I love the how you've bolted(screw? attached?) the Mac Pro to the bottom side of your desk, so it just hangs there! Jealous!

I am a consultant... It is a machine which serves me both professionally and personally. From the professional standpoint I use it for:

  • Microsoft Office
  • Final Cut Studio
  • Aperture

I work with large corporations on customer development and I develop all my own material which is graphics intensive. I also create DVD's of my work for distribution.

From a personal standpoint I use it for:

  • iLife
  • iWork
  • iDVD
  • GarageBand
  • iTunes (I am very particular about my music so I import all my CD's uncompressed, AIFF, then I compressed them as needed depending on what I am doing)

I have an iPod shuffle so it is great when I run or workout to be able to compress the music to 128kbps when syncing the shuffle. The Intel SSD is just great... period!

I also use it as a pseudo-server in my house and on the road with MobileME Back-to-my-Mac. I figured it was a good time to invest in a machine which will truly handle everything I throw at it. In addition I think it will provide a good return-on-investment.

I just ordered an iDowell iPack (http://www.idowell.eu/eng/ipack.html?countrytabs=0) which should be here tomorrow. That is the only item missing. Oh, yeah I am upgrading to Snow Leopard tomorrow.

The device which is called MacCuff Pro is supporting the Mac Pro under my desk. It is made by Sonnet Technology and can be found here: http://www.sonnettech.com/product/maccuffpro.html

I bought it at Other World Computing: http://www.macsales.com/

Other World Computing is just a great company to deal with... period! I also bought the Intel SSD and EVGA graphics card there. The desk is IKEA and everything else is from the local Apple Store.
