So if your HD is the only issue, you'll be ok!! :) great design on everything else, if you love the glossy screen, awesome.

I have a vertex 2e on my MacBook pro 13" with 4gb connected to a 30"acd, since having the new ssd, it's amazed me more than I was expecting, get one for your iMac and have an external HD :)

my only option for that is either paying owc to replace the drive or doing it myself

The current iMacs have two hard drive bays, so he doesn't even need an external. :)

Who on earth told you that??

Go configure a 27". You'll see you can add BOTH an SSD and a hard drive. They've been shipping with dual bays for a bit.

Optionally:
http://www.apple.com/imac/features.html

"To give your iMac a real performance boost, configure your 27-inch iMac on the Apple Online Store with an optional 256GB solid-state drive. You can choose it as your only drive or have it installed in addition to the built-in hard drive, allowing you to store the operating system, critical applications, and important files on the solid-state drive and your other files on the hard drive. "

I see. I doubt it is a "dual bay" since the HD tray is clearly only built to hold one 3.5" drive. Wonder where they put it?

On another note, you could buy a lot of external drives for $750. lol :p

As I said, it's dual bay. The two drives are entirely in separate bays, they aren't on the same tray. :p

Somewhere out there is a picture of the machine opened up with both drives in. Nothing too interesting. Just two drives in an iMac. :)

Edit: Here you go, not an easy bay to reach. :)

As far as I am aware, you only get the dual if you go for the ssd drive + the standard stock, you don't get it if you get the standard drive.

As detailed in the link, all 27" iMacs have the second bay. The link was someone installing an SSD that did not originally have one.

Requires the sled and the cable, but aside from that you can install the drive.

Little update:

Side screens now mounted on Ergotron LX arms.
Center screen will be mounted soon as well. A longer post on a single LX stand plus a post clamp will do the job, resulting in only a single post on the desk for all three displays.

Dell UK doesn't have them anymore, too. I was lucky to buy them before they ran out of them. Only black ones are in stock right now.

Pity that all display manufacturers went to black bezel displays.

It's finally all finished. Put the Craftsman tool chest in this weekend. It mostly hold cable and repair tools for guitars.

The white box on the front right leg of the desk is actually a Belkin remote. I've wired the desk so that when I hit that switch the 3 displays, audio monitors and all USB controllers will turn on.

I hate wires showing so I went to great lengths to hide them.

Looks great, nice and clean. Where did you get your art work?

Do you not bump your knees against the side strengthening of the table? And on the other table your shins at the lower board with the keyboard on it?

The two paintings next to the window are identical, it may be hard to tell due to the sun. I picked those up at local art store. They were on discount so I couldn't pass them up.

The main table is tall enough that I have no issues bumping my knees. At the height I have my chair I still get a good 4-5 inches of clearance.

The side table feels normal to me although it is a bit shallow. I sit the same distance from that as I do on my upright piano and have no problems hitting my shins.

Ive been starting to save up some money for a Mac pro, should be a great upgrade from my old mbp. Figured by the time of the next update I should have enough saved up, but looking at all these great setups is making it near impossible to wait! I just want it now! lol
