Anybody know what Aravintht is using to display stats in that little blue box above the LCD? I attached the image from his post.

Thanks

Hi Alex,

The LCD and the associated electronics is from a kit I made using IO-Warrior 24 (http://www.codemercs.com/index.php?id=64&L=1).

If I remember correctly, you have to purchase the LCD separately.

The software being used is Hardware Monitor ( you need to buy it, only a couple of quid I think) - you can then choose what to output to the display.

I did write an applescript to update the display, but couldn't get it to work properly once the screen saver started - would have to reboot the mac for it to detect the display again.

Let me know if you have more luck with creating an Applescript to output to the USB display, it's best to PM me if you have more questions, as I rarely follow threads.

Ara

I previously posted this photo in a different thread, but for posterity (I guess) I'll put it here too.

The Mac Pro itself is on the floor to the right of the desk.

I was also thinking, it'd be interesting in a way if people who have posted here previously, post new photos if their setup has changed :)

Although, my idea is a bit of a longshot... just how many people from back then still pay attention to this thread >_>

I have one of those displays for my PC. Here is the website. I used this one with a double height 5-1/4" bezel., looks the same as posted in the image and is powered by usb. There are Mac drivers for some of the displays. Here is an interesting thread on driving the LCD with a Mac.

2.66 GHz 12-core on the left. 2.66 GHz Quad Core on the right, which I mainly just use as a server and net render client for C4D.

Moved my desk a bit, took this pic a couple months ago, fresh install and moved desk meant I still hadn't re calibrated my monitors yet (or adjusted the wall mount for my 24"). The MP is under the desk, but the 4 monitors on the right (24" Dell 2407WFP, 2xSamsung 910ts, and 1 HP P1100 21" CRT, actually a rebranded Trinitron) are connected to it. The HP actually usually isn't connected to the MP, it's usually connected to a dual-athlon machine running debian under my desk, but at the time the pic was taken I was testing some 3d models using the CRT's refresh rate.

And yes, that is a map of middle earth on my wall, behind the screens, the wall is a bit scraped up and I had to put *something* there until I have time to pull everything out of the room and repaint it!

Awesome setup! Just needs a nice mounting solution for those displays to safe up desk space. :D

Just a quick question, do you run a 5870 and a 5770 or two 5770s? In case of two 5770s, how does the card run the three 27" displays? Any slow downs or stuff like that?

Looks like your desk is a Yorkville Apex SD1 - I really like the fact it has the 19" rackmount built in but I found the keyboard drawer was too low. Do you have the same problem?

Hi Transporteur,

Thankyou.

I run dual 5770's.

Because they only have 2 MDP and 1 DVI on the card i have to use an atlona at-dp400 to convert dvi on the 5770 to MDP for the third apple cinema display.

They perform absolutely fantastic for my needs. Ive never noticed any degradation no matter what i do.

The dell monitors are all dvi so a couple of MDP to DVI adapters was easy enough and they work great too.

If you go to my youtube page there is some videos using 3 at a time in bootcamp playing a game using eyefinity. Maybe thats of interest

I just picked up a second 27" ACD and mine don't align properly together. Do your's align perfectly? Mine are tilted slightly differently so the "seam" between the 2 isn't perfect along the entire edge (it starts to "split apart" as you go towards the top).

Also, is it normal to have some kind of "glue" or something behind the bezel of the screen? 1 of mine has some of this glue at the very bottom edge. I think I'll go swap for another one, but I was just wondering if it's a normal problem.

Awesome setup btw, I saw it on YouTube last week :)

Thanks,
