Update on this for anyone who wonders: Apple is working on getting me a replacement though their stock is a little short right now as we all know. I'm just glad progress is being made.

And a great update, Apple has shipped the replacement. It will be delivered tomorrow.

Thanks to Apple for handling this so quickly and so well.

I hope none of you have to be in this position ever anyway.

It’s here! Woo-boo!

Ready in one month! I'm guessing the estimated 10-12 weeks is being kept incase supply chain slips back?
Yeah, I was shocked when my cc was charged so early and thrilled when it came on Tuesday, July 5th. Apple had changed its initial est. of Aug 30-Sept 13 to Fri July 8, so it even beat that estimate by 3 days!

Works amazing though. Couldn’t be happier.

Just ordered:

Mac Studio M1 Max
64 GB
2 TB

Coming from 2011 27in iMac (upgraded 24 GB RAM, 2 TB SSD internal HD). Honestly, my current iMac is still going strong, but I can't run the current Mac OS, can't run the current version of Logic, and other software is deprecating. So I guess it's time. I feel like my current iMac still has some life though, so thinking about how to keep it useful or selling it.

Estimated delivery: July 27-Aug 3. I could have purchased the same setup and got it in 2 days through B&H, but I qualify for the edu discount through Apple, so it's worth $300 to wait a couple weeks. I think..
Update: I also placed on order on a refurbished unit. 32gb/2tb. I've been having second thoughts on splurging for the extra RAM (that Apple Tax is painful), and the refurbished unit arrives tomorrow! Just need to check it over for whining...

Been tracking this thread and it's been very helpful. Thanks all.

As for me:

May 19/Ultra/20-core CPU/64-core GPU/32-core neural engine/128GB ram/2 TB storage

The original delivery estimate was (and remains) August 15-29. BUT, my card just got charged yesterday, so I'm hopeful that the status will go from "processing" to "preparing to ship" very soon.

Update: It's been two days since my card was hit up for my purchase, but I'm still in "processing."

How long did others wait in "processing" after the credit card was hit?

That's a hold on the funds, not a draw of the funds. The charge can remain pending for several days. The funds won't be drawn until after the computer has shipped.

Thanks. So, I should still expect it to move to "preparing to ship" sometime in the next few days, I suppose.

Does anyone have an idea of the scale of the Mac Studio section of the factory? How many units they can prepare in a day?

Yes. In the midst of the lockdown in China people reported a few instances of Apple dropping a hold and reviving it later. Also, the length of a hold is regulated in some countries, and may be the subject of credit card company practice in others.

However, Apple appears to have made significant progress on production and I don't think that anyone here has reported a lengthy hold prior to "Preparing to Ship" in some time.

Someone with their hands on that information in the last few months could have made a good buck buying and selling Apple options :)

On April 28th, during Apple's quarterly investor call, Tim Cook said that Apple expected production to return to "normal" by the end of June. By all appearances, the company made faster headway than most people expected.

I had this happen last week. Ordered June 28th then had a hold a few days later before disappearing. No change to my order status or dates.

My order was a Ultra 20 CPU/48 GPU/128GB/1TB and Studio Display with tilt only stand. I figured if anything that just the Studio Display would ship and that’s why the charge was processed, but its status didn’t change either.

Just pre-ordered my Apple Studio display (glass tilt) at 20 june from a local reseller here in Indonesia. They said it would take 30 days to arrived (21 July).

But still i don’t know the exact progress, hopefully it will not pass the 30 days.

Check you local (or not so local) Apple Store for stock.
Looked today at UK stores, every store within 150 miles (which is far in the UK, about 10 stores) has base Max for collection today.
A couple have base Ultra today.

No luck, my order is made via premium reseller. I think we don't have any Apple Stores in Finland.
