UPS have now decided they don’t know when my studio will be delivered! I suspect it has now been added to the massive pile of stuff stuck in HK. Ah well. First world problems etc.

My original delivery date was June, but suddenly this week it got pushed up to April. Here in Canada, seems like supply is improving. It's in HK right now, should be here Monday.

Got the Ultra 64 Core 64 GB 2 TB SSD.
Whoa! That's a huge difference. When did you order? I ordered March 21st and have first week of June as my expected date. (Ultra 48, 64GB, 2TB)

Update from me (Studio arrived in Hong Kong 2 April, 7 days ago at time of writing).

Email this morning from UPS to say that my delivery is now Tuesday 1200-1600.

However, checking on ups.com it says "Package is delayed in transit. Delivery will be rescheduled. Check back or signup for UPS My Choice® to receive updates." !

This does remind me of post-Brexit where UPS was a complete shambles with delivery dates for a single parcel changing many times. It's clear their systems can't cope with any events that create a large backlog.

There might be an additional 2 week delay due to the Covid situation in HK.
New customer Mac Ultra orders look to take 4 months! This is the new normal, Apple will need to start thinking about bringing factories back to the US. This whole global lowest wage arbitrage looks to be breaking down.

It's been stated here a bit, but Apple underpromises and overdelivers. They'll catch up with demand quicker than you think. We're already seeing deliveries 1-2 months "early". However . . . there is also the additional strain that all of their current processors are binned from the same chip fab. Which, depending on how you look at it, means that they can pour all of their resources into one wafer which makes them more efficient, but also there's only one wafer to pull all of their chips from.

It's like when a Mexican restaurant runs out of tortillas. How could they run out of tortillas!? And yet . . . if anyone did run out of tortillas, it would be a Mexican restaurant.

Ours are definitely in the same pile at the back of a warehouse somewhere. Mine briefly showed a new delivery date of Tuesday before reverting to type with the same “package is delayed” message.

Since some have been shipped out of HK recently hopefully it won’t be that much longer now, but who knows.

Completely agree, seems we are in identical situation ! Looking above at the threads the ones at the front seem to have got out quicker. As I wrote, I had a bit of experience with UPS before on this and it was pretty chaotic.

"TNT Express" ...

This morning there was (finally) some movement in the order progress bar to Preparing to Ship for my Studio Max 32GPU 1TB to Belgium, ordered 22nd March and delivery window 22-28 April.
Later today I received a SMS (=mobile text message) with a tracking number for DHL Express stating my Apple is on its way. Checking the tracking it just states a label was created in EINDHOVEN - NETHERLANDS, THE but that the shipment was not yet handed over to them... meanwhile the status on the apple site remains Preparing to Ship with no mails in my mailbox.
I hope for a swift delivery.

Not sure if you can expect a swift delivery these days. I'm on the very same status (shipment has not yet been handed over to DHL) for 12 straight days now and counting... Shipped 28th of March, original estimated delivery window ending 13th of April. If I get the Studio before Easter, I'll consider it a huge success. If not, well all I can do is just to sit tight and keep waiting🙃.

After an extended vacation in Hong Kong over the last week to 10 days, my MS teleported to Pensacola overnight. Probably will make the UPS claimed delivery on Monday.

My Max 10/32/64GB/1TB Studio ordered on March 9th and scheduled for May 8-22 delivery has moved to “preparing for shipment”. I’m in China so the shipping time may be shorter than most.

It’s more likely to be a shortage of commodities or fab yield than labour.
Yep, it seems to be related to the higher density RAM chips. This was the same with the MBP. However, it seems like people with higher specs are getting bumped up the queue as well as down it, so maybe they're fiddling with the batches a little.

I noticed a load of people got pushed back, then got shipping notifications soon after. Has anyone been pushed back substantially (multiple weeks) without any movement?

Posts in the last few days, several of which show significant shortening of estimated delivery, suggest that Apple is being cautious about delivery windows. I wonder whether we'll start to see some preference for higher priced orders, or whether it's all first come first served. From a business perspective, there's an argument for doing batches of high-spec machines sooner rather than later. You probably don't want to tell people who are buying fully loaded machines that they're at the end of the line.

Bah, I can hear the damn fan in my office room when it's quiet, it's not very loud but I can notice it.

Well, he said the Apple agent claimed they already expedite such re-orders for lost items, but who knows if that is true or not.
I wonder if they expedite the order or the delivery… the latter being all well but if your order is scheduled to be built in 10 weeks, it doesn’t really help
Apparently the replacement order was different than the usual. It was listed as a replacement order and not a regular order, and the agent assured him that meant the order was expedited.

However, even after all this time (~10 days), there has been no movement at all on the order build/fulfilment. So he ended up just getting one from the local Apple Store, delivered to him by Uber Eats. It's a smaller SSD, so not an exact replacement, but good enough given the circumstances. His supposedly expedited replacement order still has a May delivery date on it.

My friend says he hears absolutely nothing and can barely feel any air coming out. However he has the base SoC, M1 Max 10/24.

It's more of the whoosh of air, there's a slight whine, but not that noticeable unless I'm really listening for it
There seems to be three camps, it's not noticeable, fans are noisy, a metallic whine. For me, fan noise is acceptable to a limit, but a coil whine will not be at all. I had one of the first gen intel MBPs that had coil whine and it was migraine inducing. Thankfully Apple replaced it then. I'm still unsure if it'll live on my desk or in my rack though. The lack of dust filters worries me in the rack.

I do have a pretty quiet room, but I'd be fine with hearing a normal fan whoosh. I assume a non-whine Mac Studio is certainly better than my 2020 iMac 5K, and that didn't bother me.

Just in case for anyone waiting for an ASD VESA Mount to be delivered end of May - Early June. I was able to purchase today a pair from Best Buy with store pickup for April 20th. You have to go to the store in person and check with your local BB store if it's available for store pickup in your area. Chat doesn't work, you have to go in person:

I haven't canceled my order with Apple just in case. My order with Apple for a pair of ASD VESA Mount is scheduled for May 27 - June 13.
