Yes my bet is still on 220VI'm taking it from the rear view when you're looking at the holes. Definitely check it out, I'm curious!
Another one with 220V and you can hear the sounds…![]()

Ooh yeah not sure if someone tried it, how does it sound when you run it while it is standing on one of the sides?220v. It does reduce the noise but doesn’t always deterministically stop . Especially on the left side. But note that is the left side when the studio is facing forward. I’ve got it until Friday so happy to run more tests to help you guys until then.
I passed my last hearing test perfectly. My environment is extremely quite. I’m sure if you locked your self in a small room with it on you would look for a window to throw it out of. But if yours is truly dead silent I’m happy for you. I have yet to see one measure under 33DB at idl. maybe I should live near a constant construction zone. ?Three weeks with my M1 Ultra and I haven't heard the fan yet.
Where is your Mac located? On your desk? Is there a wall behind the desk, or is it in the space? Is the room quiet, no background noises?Three weeks with my M1 Ultra and I haven't heard the fan yet.
Time to take your ear defenders off.Three weeks with my M1 Ultra and I haven't heard the fan yet.
Well now you have. M1 MAX base and Apple Studio Display, at idle my one minute average at my seated position is 30.7db. Back of the Studio is 2 1/8" from the wall with the fans pointing toward the wall. The Studio is also on my desk below the right side of the Studio Display.I passed my last hearing test perfectly. Mine is under my desk to the right about 3 feet away and and I hear the high pitched whine while watching YouTube videos. Really is distracting. I never hear the fans on the studio unless it is above on my desk. The electronic beeps/chirps are the killer. Again the fans would not bother me but the whine and beeps certainly do. And for apple advertising under web usage as 15 db is an absolute joke. I can hear the statement now from Apple. The Mac Studio was only disigned for usage inside an actual work studio with a minimum of 4,000 square feet. My ASD has never made a peep. Really impressed with it considering it can power and charge a laptop and stay cooler.Well now you have. Wrong, just so wrong. The thing is that in a proper studio you have a control room and a recording room. The computer noise is never a problem for the recording. When you are mixing in the control room you either use over-ear headphones or loud speakers to hear the sound properly. You will never hear the computer there either. The noise "problem" is only experienced by those who do their recording very close to the computer, i.e. non professionals. I used to work at a school with PM G5 and we had those about one meter from the monitor or on the floor. There was never a problem with any noise from the Mac Tower, despite its reputation for being loud.
I’ve had every power Mac from the G3 to G5 and never once had a problem with fan noise even though the did get warm. The intel Mac pros always seem to run hotter but stil no audible screeching. The thing is that in a proper studio you have a control room and a recording room. If it was fixable by firmware, it would be too easy. I don't believe so.I sure would love to know if the new beta changes anything as it looks like 12.4 Beta has a new firmware version.
Please keep us informed I just ordered a MB PRO 16” that I’ll pick up on Thursday after my vacation. I would still lean towards returning my Mac studio at this point because it’s been such a exhausting venture. But if the firmware drops the fan speed at idle I can still cancel the MB PRO.I sure would love to know if the new beta changes anything as it looks like 12.4 Beta has a new firmware version.
I can’t my Studio will come end of May ?Please keep us informed I just ordered a MB PRO 16” that I’ll pick up on Thursday after my vacation. I’m glad yours is coming later maybe you’ll have a better updated version. As for the firmware update its stated it’s for all M1 computers but that could be a blanket statement or a coverup who knows.I can’t my Studio will come end of May ?
An yes I wonder to if it changes the fan idle or something.
As it turns out there are other post saying the beeping and chirping is because of a bad fan after all. I swear my Mac studio sounds like R2-D2 after a few to many drinks. ?Yay at least someone else has heard what I heard in the Mac Studio but it sounds like it was a different M1 mac.
