amacgenius said:Believe it or not (stupid as this sounds) it's the security "system" they have on these models, it's glued to the top case, but plugged in via USB. They don't use the security lock, so it'd be easy to walk out of there with one .
So if you unplug it an alarm sounds and the iBook takes a pic of your mug.amacgenius said:Believe it or not (stupid as this sounds) it's the security "system" they have on these models, it's glued to the top case, but plugged in via USB. Do you know where I could get a hi-res of that image (the macbook)?mzlin said:
The smooth dull blackness of the case against the glassy shiny blackness of the screen, contrasting and yet reinforcing each other at once, emanating a cold efficient lethality ... where have I seen that before?
Oh yes! I've got it!
I'm not so sure about that. Link.amacgenius said:Believe it or not (stupid as this sounds) it's the security "system" they have on these models, it's glued to the top case, but plugged in via USB. They don't use the security lock, so it'd be easy to walk out of there with one .

Thanks for emptying my wallet .
Warbrain said:It's a fine looking machine, but I just can't get over the fact that I prefer my iBook more than the MacBook.
The black is nice, though. I loved the Powerbooks when they were black, but I somehow prefer my white iBook and the keyboard. I'll have to go and try out the MacBook at an Apple store to see if I'm willing enough to sell my iBook and buy a MacBook.
And looking at all these pictures is putting Bon Echo to the test. And it's working fine so far!.
DKZ said:Or if someone else have pictures of a 12" ibook and a macbook I would very much like to see them.
joshwest said:DKS, the 13.3" is a totally different form factor than the 12" because its wide screen.
Danksi said:I've started a size comparison thread, for those who don't have access to an Apple store anytime soon. There's a picture comparing a P-Book to a MacBook. The P-Book is a very similar size to the iBook.
DKS, the 13.3" is a totally different form factor than the 12" because its wide screen, im torn as well with my 12" PB and selling it to get the MacBook im holding on mine for a min but i do think that since you just picked up the 12" i would go ahead return it for the MacBook considering how much more your getting and your staying ahead with the Technology with a faster processor and ram.

They are called cable tyies. In the UK, they can be bought at places like Staples (office supply store) and B&Q (DIY store).Moshiiii said:Where can I get those tie things that keep the usb/speakers/ethernet wires togather?
Here in da USA their called zip-ties. Any office supply store has them. It's also useful to have a zip-tie cutter, so you can trim them to size, and cut then off once your done.Moshiiii said:Where can I get those tie things that keep the usb/speakers/ethernet wires togather?

You can see stuff being reflected in the MacBooks screen. Darn glossy screen.
That would drive me crazy.
I too like to go on the hammock with my PowerBook.Electro Funk said:Me too... i went to the apple store to check the glossybooks out yesterday...
They are VERY nice, but i cant handle the glossy screen... i could see every overhead light reflected in the screen at most angles... noticed no reflections on the matte screens of the MBP's... (and never have with my old PBG4)
pictures did look really nice on the glossy's... colors were rich, blacks were black... but just too reflective for me... my office has a big window and overhead lighting.... also like to bring the powerbook out to the hammock with me to do a little surfing... dont see that happenng with a glossy screen...
Go for it. Kick some cables butts!Moshiiii said:Thanks for the info. I'm gonna need to make a trip to staples tomarrow, Whip my cables into shape!
