How would these ibooks compare to the G5 iMacs? I know obviously the graphics are on-board, but processor wise does anyone have an idea?

Indeed there's a replacement on its way. Unfortunately the machine also makes the intermittent fan noises (or 'moo' sounds), and goes into thermal throttling once the CPU load hits 100%.

I'm pleasantly surprised by the clarity and brightness of the glossy screen however. The keyboard is also one of the better laptop keyboards I've used.

I am currently an owner of a ibm t43. I really like the black mac book. I visted the local sydney store on broadway and it seems that the keyboard is marginally better than the one on my t43!

My gf recons the new keyboard on the mac book looks like a scrabble board. So, as of now, the new mac book keyboard will be known as the scrabble keyboard.

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to take a picture of their macbook keyboard like y0zza but in focus. I would be really grateful.

Cheers but is it possible to have it 'in your face'. I dunno why but i prefer the close up ones. I saw one on the close up of the apple key but in the dsame style as the other one and that looked good but as i will be buying a macbook, it seems appropriate to have that.

Thanks for the other picture

It is in focus. (look at the 'A' key) The picture just has a shallow depth of field :p

Me too... i went to the apple store to check the glossybooks out yesterday...

They are VERY nice, but i cant handle the glossy screen... i could see every overhead light reflected in the screen at most angles... noticed no reflections on the matte screens of the MBP's... (and never have with my old PBG4)

pictures did look really nice on the glossy's... colors were rich, blacks were black... but just too reflective for me... my office has a big window and overhead lighting.... also like to bring the powerbook out to the hammock with me to do a little surfing... dont see that happenng with a glossy screen...

Edit: oh yeah... if you buy a black one... get some touch up paint! the black macbook on display at the local store had only been out that day and already had a big scratch all the way through the paint on the top of the macbook (white underneath)

well after bashing the reflective screen on the macbook, my fiance kept begging me to get her one of those cute new macbooks.... ugh......

so i caved and bought her a blackbook.... i must say when using it at home i have yet to see a reflection on the screen at full brightness....

this thing is really nice... i might even consider the new screen when i purchase a new MBP!

Just got this baby today.

Hey, a question for anyone with the glossy screen or even without: I noticed today that for the first time, I can actually use my laptop outside; even in direct sunlight my MacBook's screen is still viewable (albeit the colors are a bit off) and slightly angled away it looks just beautiful. No longer am I trapped inside with this. Does the MBP's glossy screen do the same? Am I the only one who's noticed this huge improvement over past models?

Nice pictures, I'm just wondering what is the advantage of the black MacBook besides the fact that it makes you look more like a Windows user? I'm just wondering where the $200+ you pay goes?

with a nasty problem:

:(

My Black MacBook kinda does that. Not to that extreme, but it does push out a little more than the rest of the lid. The thing is, other than that it has no problems and that slight bulge doesn't ever bother me so I don't know if I should do anything. Also, I bought this thing a month ago, would they even fix it or would they just say that I could have done it so they won't take it....
