To me the quality and the loudness both seem unharmed, but I would have to compare it to a model without the update to be totally sure.
I had the crackling about every hour, now I've been going for almost two days without any trouble.

Saw someone on reddit saying there was less throttling etc and that they pretty much did the same thing as osx regarding throttling but still waiting for my mbp so can't test yet, would be good if someone could test it.

After hard reset to 10.13.6 speakers stop to produce this stupid crackling sound. After reset i don't activate Siri or other settings related with T2 functionality.

A1990 i7 2,6GHz, 16Gb, 512Gb
Don't upgrade from 10.13.6 !!! Until Apple didn't repair this crackle sound.

I've just unboxed a 2018 MBP13 and:

- It has speaker hiss
- I've had it crackle just by turning the volume to mute

Sooooo we're 3-on-3 now for 2018 MBP's.

4-on-4 if we count my 2017.

I mean, yeah, getting different product would be good. Problem is I want a Mac laptop, so I’d need to give up MacOS to move elsewhere.

A coworker of mine got one from work and we checked this hissing issue. He had the same problem as me so we called Apple and asked for a senior advisor. He did some standard things like changing the MIDI settings in that MIDI app and killing coreaudiod. Nothing helped (including updating to the Mojava beta).

He told us that it's useless to return the Macbook because the new one will have it also. He also mentioned Apple is aware of the issue and a fix will be released for it soon.

When a fix is released I might buy one again or wait for the 2019 model, I'm undecided still.

This update sucks with external DAC's. I had problems getting the sample rate fixed between the MacBook Pro and the external DAC (And this is a $10.000+ DAC were are talking about so it's not cheap crap).

It is working now but let's see how long it will be stable.

Looks like this new update is much worse for me.

I didn’t have much crackle issues after replacing my machine with a new one under normal usage (only when I do some specific stuff that I know will cause problems). But now I have sample rate issues.

Now my sample rate is at 384khz for example and I will have to force it back. Stuff like this never happened before the update.

Apple is really poor at testing it seems. I do wonder what their test team is doing all day. Testing if the machine works on Facebook or something?

very frustrating

I would say do a SMC and ram reset as mentioned a little earlier up in this thread...it may help

looks like a wait until Mojave (for some) sadly...to get the best out of these machines
its sad for users but as some experienced users have stated...beware/aware of being a new hardware adopter
I was forced this time to buy at the time of release by circumstances
but ill wait before buying after new hardware/chipset releases (that don't yet have dedicated firmware) in future if possible

If the sound crackling and panic attacks are still there and not being resolved I almost feel like blaming it on all the “microdosing” drugs and other fads in Silicon Valley. It’s creating cognitive dissonance and arrogance. Maybe harming perception and self-criticism too. You can’t see issues if you’re constantly feeling high and good about yourself. It doesn’t just apply here. We see all tech giants and their employees showing careless disregard to get everything quickly to market and then apologize and fix problems later.

Depression is good for you. It was good for hundreds of geniuses. Stop trying to make your life look like Instagram :p

I know we are 30+ pages deep, but that should be more reason for us to try such basic steps by now.

Yes, issue persists after supplemental update 2. I’m on second 2018 15, and first 13. 2017 has hiss.

I don't have any crackling sound issues with my new MBP. It came with the supplemental update 1 already installed, I only installed the Supplemental update 2.
I was listening to Youtube for like 5 hours and nothing...

I'm talking about the 2018 model. My coworker also has the 2018 model with the same issues as mine had.
