Agreed. Silver will never get old. It will always be around. The most expensive mac that Apple's gonna sell this fall only comes in silver. It's a testament to how classic it is.
Yes I noticed that. No Space Gray there. And who knows maybe rev 2 but not Rev 1.

Yo @vaugha ! Good to see you here. I love this thing. Def none of the previous ones felt good to me. My wife's 2018 does not hold speeds and truly this is the first model that actually feels ownable. Pains me to say but @Queen6 's assessment that this is the correction model is accurate.

Franky it pains me, and I above all want Apple to get it together as right now they don't produce a suitable notebook. 2019 MBP is a step in the right direction, although I rather feel that's mostly down to Intel and Apple finally being shamed into sorting out the keyboard.

2020 MBP needs to be a spectacular piece of hardware, priced at a point where it actually represents value as Apple has lost a lot of ground with the 2016 design...

Hello. I received the 2019 15 i7 32gb MacBook Pro. I did some tests. The first Cinebench test was ok. After 2nd or 3rd the situation changes, ιt reduces the power to 30-35 watts, the clock in 2.5-2.7Ghz and the temperature around 80 C. Why is that? Anyone with the same results?

Give it some time to settle down, like all new systems lot of background activities occur in the first few days. If it continues to shunt down to 30W I'd be inclined to speak with Apple as that implies a low power state.

Thanks for the answers. This is taken place after repetitive cinebench executions. Have you tried 3-4 cinebench tests the one after the other? The performance was the same? Thank you.

Edit: The room temperature was 28 C.

Sitting across from a friend with a 2018 right now. Doing the same thing. His fans are blazing. Mine are completely quiet.

What color did you get? Space Gray to me always looks cheap after 6 months of ownership but I have it on good authority that its the more popular color amongst employees.

Is space gray really that bad in the long term? I just bought the 2019 13 inch SG, since I don‘t like how the keyboard and TB look compared to the body (too dark imo).

I think so. And I prefer a more classic look.

Some folks will disagree that space grey won't last as long as silver, but it is true that anodized coating will thin out over time. Anodized coating is subject to wear and tear. I have fountain pens that are 10 years old that are brushed titanium that look as good as new.

I also have newer fountain pens that are anodized in black on aluminium and the threads of the barrels have already worn off and are showing bare aluminium underneath due to constant abrasions closing and opening over the years.

If you upgrade your macbooks every 2-3 years, I don't think it's a big of a deal but I use my laptop for 5+ years, so durability of the finish matters to me.

Anodized coating is still mainstream compared to dlc coating. If macbooks had dlc coating, I'd buy space grey in a heartbeat but I'm guessing apple didn't opt for it due to cost concerns.

Upcoming 16" needs be a lot better, as these CPU's are capable of far more. Apple should do thin & light, it should also do performant and usable, not solely variations of the same...

Seen today’s rumor on scissor keyboard redux?

Upgraded from the i7 2018 to i7 2019, and the new keyboard definitely feels like a a more traditional laptop keyboard with mushier buttons. I don’t mind either versions. Pleased with the upgrade so far!
Just curious, why did you upgrade? Should be only a very small performance difference, no?

Got a good deal using my credit card, so I could sell my previous gen for the same price as the new one. It was a cheap way to extend the life of my computer by a year and gain some extra performance as a bonus. It’s also going to be easier to sell the 2019 than the 2018 model, when I eventually upgrade in 2020 again.

Not sure if this is anything but this is the first machine I have owned in some time where I didn't often think man this thing needs a restart. Like 16gb was giving me low RAM conditions feelings and on a lark I just checked my uptime and Ive been using this thing for 25 days solid! On my 13' 2017 3.5ghz with 16gb RAM Id have restarted a couple times already but this thing is just cruising. Some part of me exhales.

Now everyone's had them for a while...

My 2018 i9 is still annoying me massively even with all the patches. I can mess with undervolting I guess and it helps but :/

All I'd like is as close to silent as possible when doing basic web/email type stuff. Do the 2019 15" ones achieve that or are they still prone to a lot of fan noise when not a lot is going on?

Any significant difference in fan noise between the i7 and i9 versions? again not talking when pushing them because I expect it then, just talking about it sitting there doing some web and email ?

thanks!

i9, Vega 20 here. I had a 2018 6 core model. This is new version is *much* quieter in general use.

My 2019 i9, 560X is much quieter than my 2018 i7 6 core was. I'm running with two 4k displays attached and the 2018 would ramp up the fans when doing the lightest of work. The 2019 has to be pushed much harder before the fans ramp up.

ok that's really good news (although does mean I'll have to swap!) but still, I'll do it to get some peace and quiet back

thanks for the feedback
