And now this rumor of a new 16" one in September. It is interesting to me, Ill admit. And, I am really happy with this machine.

I bought the Space Gray Magic Keyboard, Mouse and Trackpad. They don't match the color of the laptop.

You just know the next one will. *sigh*

#FirstWorldProblems

IIRC you went with silver. But I know it's gonna bug me.

Im really excited that Apple seems to be getting back to a Mac line up thats hot and fast and evolving. The benefit is that we get competitive hardware, the drawback is you don't get to have the latest hottest machine as long as you did before. I think the latter is fools gold (which Id happily trade) from the perspective of wanting a healthy platform.
Yeah me too. In happy with my laptop but the 16" it's tempting, but in all likelihood well out of my comfort zone for what I'm willing to pay for a laptop

Oh wow. Your uses are platform independent?
Yes, and actually more windows centric. I've been on a mac for years but the tools I use, are windows only, so I'm actually better off on a PC. I preferred the Mac hardware and user experience but it was getting harder and harder to justify the premium pricing and couple that with the keyboard issues, I made the decision late last year to move on to a windows laptop

True and well said. Increased pricing is impossible to justify in USD, and in my country in INR it becomes downright outrageous.

Problem being despite the improvements the 2019 MBP only offers greater portability with still several trade off's. I'm hoping that the next design will focus more on performance and usability not the aesthetic.

Ultimately it's down to Apple if it wants to produce if it wants to design consumer products with a Pro label or actually deliver.

2019 is a nice notebook, equally it remains to be constrained for the wrong reasons, including pricing for many consumers.

I have felt that many of your criticisms have been hyperbolic and overblown. This one feels more fair for some reason.

This is a 2017 4 core. Crazy to double performance in 2 years time.

That score seems pretty low. My 2016 15" MBP with a 2.9GHz quad core i7 (i7-6920HQ) scored 1867 in R20.
Still a great performance increase compared to the previous generations.

I picked up a 2.4 I9, 32 GIGs and a 1TB HD and I'm really happy. It's my first laptop (I've had desktops going all the way back to the 660AV). It's quite a change but I'm loving the portability. The speeds are absolutely crushing the 2012 iMac that I've had for years. The only thing that's going to take some time to get used (to coming from a silent desktop) are the fans. Lightroom and watching YouTube videos seems to ramp 'em up pretty quickly. But I dig the keyboard and I really like the Touch Bar. I don't think its quite there yet but I like the added convenience.

Could be something like that or possibly something running in the background. Even the sample i7-6700HQ shown in the pic has a higher score, which shouldn't be the case against the i7-7700HQ which has slightly faster speeds and slightly higher IPC.

Very impressive scores on these 8 core MBPs. My 2.7GHz 12core 2013 nMP (Xeon E5-2697v2) scored 3345, which seems to be around what the 2.4 i9 is scoring. Wow!

Really goes to show there’s a lot more than megahertz happening under the hood
