Got my 2.4ghz, 8-core, 32gb, 555x, 2tb w/ applecare+ in silver 2 days ago. Cost me a grand total of 6.1g after tax in Canadian dollars. Ouch...my friends tell me it's not worth it to spend that kind of money on a laptop that will be outdated in a few years and I agree to a certain point.

I've always had good experience w/ macs and I'm a huge sucker for slick designs on laptops. Apple leads the entire industry when it comes to design. Reliability used to be 2nd to none also, and their reliability status tanked in recent years at least in macs.

Anyhow, this thing is fast, very fast. My keyboard is covered for 4 years and given what they said, the materials changes should appease some concerns. Temps are good also, around 5C lower than my 2018 2.2ghz mbp 15" I returned. I honestly cannot discern any difference b/w 2018 and 2019 keyboards feel wise.

So yip I don’t feel at all bad now for staying with my i7 2018. I knew choosing the Vega 20 was in the long run the better idea. Turns out my thoughts were right. My use case is not CPU restricted but graphics restricted.

My 2C about the keyboard.

I’ve had the chance to try the new model.
Well, the sound is DEFINITELY softer and deeper, giving you the feeling it’s more firm than the MY18.

If you not consider the sound, the feeling on the click is the indeed the same.

The trackpad instead is mooshy and less clicky, even with the “hard” click setting.

The one thing I am noticing is how warm the 15" (8 core 2019 model) gets when it is on my lap! I am not running anything special, just multiple email systems, web, word, etc.... is this normal? My 4 core 13" doesn't really do that....and advise/tips etc?

I have experienced that with my i9 15" 2019. But that was only while it was under heavy load. There's not much you can do about it.
Normally when using it on my lap it's not doing much more than some browsing and a little Xcode that doesn't make it heat up as much. Xcode is pretty bursty and won't make it unbearable hot.

My new Mac has not long been delivered. So far I have set it up and had a little play around with my new machine :)

Microsoft Word and Excel as well as Google Chrome seem to be the apps that heat machines the most. Quit those and see what happens.

Nice congrats!

Thank you, so far I really like it, it's early days but I love the design, it looks great and I can't believe how thin and light the 13" is, i'm glad I got the 13". It feels only a fraction heavier than my 12.9" iPad Pro

Also it's weird how different it seems compared to in the Apple store, actually having the device at home, moving about with it and using it in a real world environment.

So far I'm happy, provided I have no keyboard issues I will be very happy with this machine :)

This is an interesting interview with Craig Federighi and Greg Joswiak. At the start of the interview they mention a rumour site that they read , also later in the video Craig mentions about dialling it back a little, it's a very interesting interview and worth a watch.

It sounds to me that they are actually listening to what Pro's and people want.

Anyone noticed how brilliant the speakers are on these Macbook Pro's? I've been listening to music while writing this morning and I did it through this new Mac in order to test the speakers. I was amazed at how great they sound, even on a 13" MacBook Pro

My 2018 sounds so good that I don’t even see the point in plugging it into external audio.

Exactly, they sound really good. I was surprised to be honest. I have so say that so far I'm impressed with this new Mac. The build quality is awesome, the speakers are amazing, it's ultra portable and I actually like the keyboard (I just hope they have fixed the issues with it). So far even the battery life is pretty good :)

Yeah honestly with how good those speakers sound for a laptop in that form factor there is no excuse for any other laptop to have bad quality audio.

Since Apple bought beats they made the internal speakers for every product far better, the normal imac is still on the last tech ..

Mbp speakers are industry-leading, and the best of any laptops. I just don't see a point buying seperate speakers when I have portal speakers that are so good. One thing people don't usually mention is they're hdr speakers. They pick up even the slightest noises of any soundtrack and it's something that I was amazed at when I was going through the system alarm sounds. I could hear all the noises in the background!
