I'm using a Timbuk2 messenger bag (classic model) now and really like it. Very well-built, holds everything I need (I don't like to pack to much). I feel that the built quality is well enough to last me for many years. Just wish it had 2 water bottle holders instead of just 1.

Timbuk2 bags are basically bomb proof, and it should hold up well for you. I've owned quite a few of them over the years and have never had any problems. In fact, the largest messenger bag I own from them was purchased in the 90's and is still going strong.

thinking of buying one of the hard shell cases for my new 13" rMBP. Are they worth it? they seem cheaply made for the price. Do they help with drops etc? Any brands better? speck vs incase?
My old 17 from 2010 still looks like new, but i didn't take it out much as it was massive! haha

i just picked this one up. bigger than it looks. I also picked up a Jansport Onyx 35, but it was more like a school bag.
The Timbuk2 fits my MBP and Wacom Pro medium tablet - plus the normal extras.

Wow I like this one a lot. Could you tell me if it's big enough to feature 2 maps, 1 tablet, 1 13 - 15 inch MBP and a few books or would that be impossible?

My favorite case is this one here: https://www.amazon.de/URBAN-Schutzh...3862&sr=8-2&keywords=urban+armor+gear+macbook

i haven't used this bag since i bought it several weeks ago, however i am looking at it now, and it is massive. It is deceptive looking. Initial gander, it looks small - but you could carry an iPad pro, 15" MBP, an Wacom Intuos Pro Medium and another tablet - and still have room for a mouse, book, power cords.

check and see if your local REI has it. I work for REI and my store sells them.

Thank you looks really nice but I guess I'll think with the Tutor from Eastpak, it's a hybrid between a backpack with special laptop case.

got this bombshell

mbp is not slippery anymore, not afraid of drop it. no heat issues (tested XLD flac encoding, Resolve12 video editing), no issues putting it on. very satisfied.

Guys,

Whats the latest and greatest shell case for the MBP 15" Retina (Mid 2015) ??

I had the "InCase" one that I got from Apple - but the corners all cracked (despite being well looked after) and some broke off - after just three months light use.

I had a look at the "Tech21" Impact Snap case that Apple also sell as an exclusive (for 50% more than the InCase one) - but reading the reports on the Apple store there are lots of complaints of a very poor fit - and also the case causing lots of marks on the MBP itself.

So what would be the best case to get up to say £70/$100 or so??

For that kind of cheese, I would just get a high quality sleeve. Hard cases for me have been a waste of time.

Looking for the slimmest possible sleeve for a 15" (old, 2015) Macbook Pro Retina. The laptop fits in my bag with about .5" of clearance... any ideas?

Does anyone know of where to find a good protective macbook pro 13" holder? I would like to get something for when I need to travel with it. I ordered the new 13" one today. Any insight is appreciated!

Ordered the new 15" rmbp and it will need a nice sleeve. So I'll make one out of leather since I do some leatherworking. ^^

Example of a slingbag/case for the Nintendo 3ds I made recently.

Hey, that's really good! Love the Transformers logo. You should make a line of retro 80's sleeves...Transformers, GI Joe, Ninja Turtles, etc. They would sell well.

Glad you like it! The deceptions logo is something I put on everything I make for myself.

My experience is that custom handmade leatherwork is hard to sell since its hard to compete with pricing. Most are used to pay for cheap leather goods that don't age well and won't hold for long. Also this is a hobby so I won't ever mass produce anything without getting proper payment since it's boring since it becomes work. ;)

You might check Waterfield Bags (http://sfbags.com), I've used quite a few products in the past and have been very happy with them. They have all kinds of sleeves, bags etc. for Macs.

I have used their leather Muzetto bags for years and been very happy with them.

If you just need something thin and light they just released their Maxwell sleeve that looks pretty nice.

A black or blue leather sleeve with a red Cobra logo (from G.I. Joe) would be dope.

Has any company come out with or has a preorder for an official microfiber sleeve for the 15" yet?

The only one I've heard of so far is SF Bags. Here is a link to the sleeve they were promoting for the new 2016 MBPs. They were promoting it as a pre-order for $20 off before the new MBPs were announced. Now it is back to $99, not including the optional add-ons.

I want to get an InCase sleeve (mine have held up well) for my upcoming 13-inch and there's just a signup for e-mail updates on new designs. Wondering if I should bother with one for a 13-inch MBA but if it's not going to fit well I guess I better wait until they release official versions. Probably going to pick up one of the "Diamond Wire" designs as soon as I can.

Edit: Just remembered that since the MBA uses a 16:9 aspect ratio, there will be way too much space side-to-side. I'll have to compare dimensions between MBP models to see how well it would fit but it looks like they're only millimeters apart from each other.

Looking for laptop bag suggestions. Currently using a case logic rucksack with my 2012 model. It's not great as very little padding at the bottom of the laptop compartment so I had to add some neoprene layers for extra protection after dropping it once and denting my maccbook a little bit.

I need something about the size of a Wegner Gigabyte as i carry a computer toolkit along with cables and testers etc alone with the new 15" MacBook and its power supplies and som dongles. It's got to have plenty of protection as I don't really want to use a sleeve with it, just slip it into the bag, although I might use a sleeve at first to double protect 'my precious'

I'm really happy with my Thule EnRoute Duo 2. The laptop compartment is well protected, and it has a little extra pocket for an iPad or eReader or what have you. As far as extra stuff goes, it has two front pockets and two side pockets. Very useful.

One minor nitpick I have, is that the bottom does not contain enough padding for my tastes, like you described. If you let the laptop slide/fall into the laptop compartment, it'll bump into the floor.
