If I'm not mistaken, aren't these the Incase sleeves everyone was waiting for? They updated their site recently to include a "Pro (2016)" section. I apologize if someone has posted about this already.

https://www.incase.com/shop/devices/macbook/mackbook-pro-2016-with-touch-bar/

Edit: Although some of them say "New", they seem to be the same cases that were available for the previous generation MBP. Also, one of the sleeves that is supposedly for the Late 2016 13 inch shows a picture of the cMBP (non-Retina). I think I'm gonna wait to hear from Incase officially. What do you guys think?

Dang, I got really excited!

Yes, the Incase Ines haven't been updated yet but some retailers have updated their listings to say they're for the new TouchBar macs. They're compatible but they're certainly not designed for them as there's a bit of space in them so they're not a perfect fit.

I have the Pack and Smooch case for my 15 inch and I have this to add:

Pros

  1. Fit is perfect as the case was actually made for the TBMBP line
  2. The protection offered is strong as wool is naturally shock absorbent, water repellant and insulating - P&S claims the latter helps conserve battery life, but this remains to be seen
  3. The construction is excellent. The merino wool felt is thick and finely stitched, whilst the authentic leather grip is a pleasure to handle
  4. It's a very attractive case that compliments the SG colour especially well
  5. The front pocket is useful for cables and screen cloths etc and is well protected from the main compartment by a thick layer of felt. You could easily add an iPad mini to this compartment but I wouldn't recommend this due to the potential stress it could place on the laptop.
  6. You can charge you laptop whilst its in the case - this is very useful
  7. The magnetic snap buttons prevent excess force being applied to your laptop when you button up the sleeve

Cons

  1. I have my reservations as to how well the wool will hold up over time - this case will start to look awful if it bobbles, frays and warps like an old jumper. Given the price of this sleeve and the decrease in protection such wear would cause, this could be a considerable downside to the case.
  2. The case has reinforced edges on the left and right sides of the case which will suit those who place the sleeve in a bag vertically. However the bottom of the sleeve does not have this edging and so if you use a briefcase/satchel style bag like myself, you won't have that added layer of protection. There is some reinforcement with the leather grip but the patch is not particularly thick.

All in all it's a great case and IMHO, it's the best sleeve on the market right now. I'd say go for it if you have the cash but reviews down the line as to its resilience will be interesting. I will post further thoughts as and when they arise.

WWHG.

Couple questions... so if I understand, it's the same model for iPad Pro 12 inch, the Macbook 12 inch, and the new 13 inch touch bar macbook pro? Amazon lists them as separate products:

https://www.amazon.com/Acme-Made-AM36924-Shuttle-MacBook/dp/B0125A3040?th=1

and

https://www.amazon.com/Acme-Made-AM36925-MacBook-12-Inch/dp/B0125A3040/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1480561096&sr=8-2&keywords=acme+made+macbook+12&th=1

and

https://www.amazon.com/Acme-Made-AM10121-12-9-Inch-Tangerine/dp/B01F8H2O9O/ref=sr_1_2?s=boost&srs=12034488011&ie=UTF8&qid=1480561122&sr=1-2&keywords=acme+made+ipad+pro+12&th=1

???

The one thing I don't like is the laptop goes in horizontally. Leaves a lot exposed. I liked my crumpler fug cause it goes in vertically.

Does the case function without the strap, or is it too lose to not use the strap?

I just don't super love that design, lol

Hey just to clarify, the case is not the same for the 12" rMB. What I meant was I had used Acme Made skinny sleeves (of different sizes) for past computers and loved them.

Although having the long edge exposed (horizontally like you said) there is enough overhang of the neoprene (1/2" or more) where I feel the machine is well protected at all times.

I suppose the sleeve would function without the strap, its a nice snug fit, but the strap is stitched into the sleeve so you'd have to surgically remove it!

$56 and they're not even shipping until next year? No thanks

Hmmm that's odd, I ordered it via Amazon Prime on Sunday 11/27 for $39.95 and received it 11/29

The case is also available through Acme Made's site for the same price, shipping immediately:

Oh... darn about the models, good thing you clarified, I almost ordered the 12" macbook model last night thinking you meant they were both the same.

Amazon sells the reddish strap one and the black strap one. Unfortunately both are out of stock. I go on a trip Monday and need a case for the trip. Not sure how I could get one at this point. I wish there was SOMETHING for the damn laptop. It's so frustrating having a laptop with no cases available.

My bad! but it appears they are shipping the same exact case for the 12.9" iPad Pro & the 2016 MBP 13", the iPad one has a hole behind the strap for the apple pencil (this is the one I was able to order on Amazon prime a few days ago for $39)

Yeah, guess I'll just have to do this trip with a floppy oversized case. Gosh I miss my Crumpler Fug sleeve already. I hate zippers and straps, that one was just perfect :-(

I just placed an order for the black and red sleeve for the new MBP 13" via their website, and shipping is free. Already got a shipping confirmation email.

Sadly since I'm flying out Monday am, the only way to get it would be overnight, and the only way that's a reasonable cost is via Amazon. I'm going to go to Best Buy or Frys and going to take a pile of cases from the shelf and just start trying them on on the TB MBP, LOL...

Looks like a nice case, but I am not a fan of velcro.
I just wanted something simple. I don't carry my MBP around that much. I actually tried ordering from ColacSac (where I get my 17" sleeve from) but it appears their website it the only thing still running as I didn't hear anything back in two weeks. Ended up having to do a chargeback via my CC company.

Haha I was about to do the same thing, but I'm gonna give this ACME-made sleeve a shot first.

I got the tomocco sleeve for the older 13 inch but I will be keeping the ibalson case on my Mac. So would be have any fit issues with that combination??

Thanks

I got my Picaso Lab black & red leather case in the mail today. It's extremely well built and hands down the best sleeve I've had for a MacBook in all my years! I'm very pleased with the build & material quality!!

Any feedback on the Thule sleeves? The gauntlet 3 looks rock solid, while the other one looks waterproof and handy too.

Returned the Incase Icon Tensaerlite because of the extra space for the 15". Apple advertises it as compatible, but by that logic they might as well sell a house there because the MacBook can be put inside, but they obviously don't judge the extra space...

Anyway, ordered this now (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Inateck-Ul...1307&sr=1-6&keywords=14+inch+laptop+case&th=1)

Its a 14" case, do you think it should fit the tb15" better than Icon? I've been comparing dimensions of that one, the MacBook pro and the TomToc case one that isnt available in the UK yet...

Just got the InCase Diamond Wire for my 13" and I'm pretty happy with it. Doesn't seem to have nearly as much extra material as I had feared since it's advertised for the rMBP. It's close to a perfect fit, and that may be helped since it's stiffer than the neoprene sleeves they sell that always seem to be a bit floppier. Probably about as much cushioning as my old one, but it feels like less since it's a suede-like material on the inside instead of the faux fur like the two I have for my 15".

I am worried that a 13 inch sleeve for the new Mac's would be too tight to support the Mac with a hardcase.
Nope, it'll be lose, I have 4 13 inch sleeves and it's all soupy-sloppy in there, could double the thickness and it'd be snug, lol

It really pisses me off that case makers do this so often and get away with it. I understand they want to get business as much as possible, but this tactic is just dishonest, especially given the shift to so much online shopping. If in store you can try it on and see it's not a fit, but online you have the process and expense of ordering it, waiting for it, having it delivered, then having to ship it back. Really bad business for them. And they know it's floppy. I have ordered several sleeves just hoping one will be tolerable, nada...

I'm doing it out of force since nothing is available for delivery tomorrow. I'll check out what's in stock at BBY and maybe Fry's and report back :)

I am following up as I promised. I went to Best Buy (two locations) and a Frys.. neither had ANYTHING even close to a good fit for the MBP w\ TB. Insane that it's been out over a month and a half and still nothing. The sales guy at both places tried to convince me that a 13" would work. Yeah, of course it would. A 15" or 17" or 400" would work too, but it's not fitting. I could wear a XXXXL shirt and a size 18 shoe too but doesn't mean it's the right fit. Sigh.

Back to the drawing board.

Weird, I tried this one and it was as loose and floppy inside there as any of their other 13" sleeves. :-(

I agree that it does have some extra room around the sides, but I more meant that the material feels more rigid than the neoprene (that it can stand up holding one edge whereas the neoprene will just fall over, for better or worse). Maybe when they come out with dedicated one for the tbMBP I'll think of picking one up. And hopefully there will be 50% off again when they do.
