No viable options available through the Apple Store yet?
Just ordered a new back pack bag and waterproof sleeve for my new to me MBP. Its Purple in color along with the matching purple sleeve. Always had black before; needed something to step out.

I've ordered the Icon Tensaerlite without realizing it's going to be a loose fit for the 2016 MBP. However, what I'm hoping is that when I get a hard shell for the MBP, that extra bulk will fill out the case.

Well, that's the plan anyway…
I'm now using the i-blason hard shell with the Icon. The extra bulk fills the Icon really really snuggly, so much so that I'm hoping it will stretch and loosen out. There's about 5mm empty space at the end with the opening – not a problem, as the MBP won't be sliding around at all in there.

Does anyone have any experience with the following bags for use with the TBMBP:

AER Duffle Pack https://bearandbear.com/product/aer-duffle-pack-24l/?gclid=CMnn08amx9ECFcW4GwodcL4Pkg

Goruck GR1 http://www.goruck.com/gr1-rucksack-black-/p/GEAR-000574

Both look like solid options but I have no experience with either brand. The GR1 claims the laptop department can withstand a bomb blast in (!) but I wonder what the fit is like. The AER is a more versatile work/gym bag and I have seen reviews state that it can accommodate the 2015 MBP at least.

I have to get a new backpack and that goruck looks like a good option. any feedback from other users?

Nothing as yet. FB would be great as it's certainly a pricey option.

I think I'll e-mail the company about the laptop compartment - the dimensions and materials used on the inside.

How long did it take you to get yours from the day you ordered and shipped to ontario ? I just ordered one thanks to your review to BC.

Hey, glad I encouraged you. Nice choice!
Well shipping is another story. I went with the most basic priced shipping service, which had an estimate of 3-5 weeks (yes weeks!) to get to get to Toronto. It arrived right around 3 weeks to the day. There were other shipping options - but that's what I went with. I'm hoping for your sake that you were able to order at a faster shipping speed. Good luck!

gorucks are super overbuilt. for me too much wannabe gijoe. you can pay 1/2 for more function in a timbuk2 or tnf pack. but it is made in the usa. aer look interesting - very trendy-fashion forward yet functional duffle bags designed in sf. but made overseas i believe.

for functional yet semi-professional appropriate bags/packs made in usa, take a look at tom binh. love my pilot. if you're even more minimal the cadet may be to your liking. or synapse 19/25 if you want a backpack

I have a question for those that have the Pack & Smooch, the inside pocket area pictures show it can hold a phone and obviously it can hold cables but can it also hold the power brick or will that stick out too far and not allow the case to be snapped closed?

It looks like Amazon is selling it for $69.90 vs Pack & Smooch website for $79.60 I wonder why it's $10.00 difference.

There's no way the power brick would safely fit without placing pressure on the laptop. At most, I use cables and/or an iPad in mine.

The price difference may be because it's the older model - make sure it has the magnetic snap buttons.

Thanks for the recommendations! The GR is silly expensive for what it is - I just liked the straight forward design and robust materials.

Really liking the timbuk2 and TB bags but they don't have the extra room the AER provides as those with laptop compartments are mostly day bags. Will keep them in mind for general use back packs though.

i have the iBlasion case for my 15" tbMBP and it fits extremely well. no gaps or fitment issues, and the matte texture allows it to be slightly grippier when i take it out of my sleeve/bag or move it from one location to another (less likely to drop it). the rubber feet are awesome as well. no complaints here.

Anyone with the iBlasion see dust getting in through the bottom vents? I was considering getting one but my brother works at the Apple Store and says they dont recommend getting bottom vented shells (at least with the previous generation) because the fan vents are on the sides. They say it doesnt do almost anything for heat disbursement and allows for debris to get in and scratch up the bottom, much like the iphone cases with cut outs for the logo.

Luckily I dont take take mine off my desk very often so I can wait for Speck to come out with something for the 15" touchbar. They are coming out with the Presidio shell for the 13" next month if this is still accurate. https://www.macrumors.com/2017/01/04/ces-2017-speck-presidio-cases/

i just opened mine up to see if there was any significant dust build up and i couldn't find anything. there was no dust or dirt in between the case or the laptop, and there was nothing unusual in terms of the vents themselves within the MBP. i'll keep an eye on it as suggested by your brother, but so far so good. my laptop doesn't see too much abuse as i only carry it from home to work, and its always in a sleeve in my bad during that time, so it's not susceptible to debris.

I ordered a CaseLogic purple backpack: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DGGY6R8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I've always used a briefcase, but I'm retired now, and the back pack seems more useful. I also ordered a Lacdo water repellant sleeve for additional protection: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016V9XKLY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

And since if you order enough, you can get something else instead of paying shipping from Amazon, so I ordered a USB 3.0 SanDisk 64 GB flash drive giving up to 150mb/s.

New MBP(to me) needs some new peripherals and cases, right?

Just received an email from Incase this morning; they updated their site. Not a single nMBP product yet, looks like I'm getting a Waterfield Dash.

Just received my WaterField MacBook SleeveCase for my 15" tbMacBook Pro and I am very pleased. Computer fits very snugly and is well protected. The case has an angled pocket in the back that will hold my charging brick and cable, iPhone 6Plus, and iPad Air. Mine is black made of ballistic nylon. I wanted a smaller case and this fits the bill.

I have one from 5 years back for a 2011 13" MBA I ordered. I use it now for my 13" MBP, They make very good stuff. The style changed a bit but the quality is still the same.

Any case, even ones without vents, will allow dust to get in and potentially scratch. For example, you see dirt between the lid and the shell on macbooks with cases, and there's no vents on the lid. You may be at a lesser risk with keeping your MBP at your desk, and even less so if you regularly take off and clean the case.

Safest bet is definitely a sleeve, and you won't be at risk of wearing out your hinge with a heavy case.

The case I had on my MacBook Air had hundreds of small, round perforations by design. I recently removed it after almost six years because the bottom had cracked and was beginning to separate. After cleaning the computer with a soft rag, the metal surface looked just like it did when it was new, with no scratches or dents. Although I took good care of it, the MBA has traveled with me extensively, including several trips to the middle east.

Sleeves are great—I have a bag (Waterfield Designs calls it a SleeveCase) that I used to carry my MBA and now my MBP. But at some point you have to take the computer out. I like the hard shell because it protects against scuffs and dings that can happen when handling the laptop.

So the 11.6" sleeve fits the new 13 inch MacBook Pro nicely? I'm struggling to find a case that is a nice snug fit for it.

Nice. Do you mind adding a picture which shows the edges ?

Ok so now I finally managed to take some photos...
In the photos it looks like there is more space than there actually is because of that protection flap (or however one might call that), which goes right around all the edges (not only where the zippers are...). That provides also some "drop protection", not much I would think but better than only a felt case or so...
(For the photos I tried to push the macbook in one corner so that you can see the maximum left over space...)
There is about 5-7mm left over space to the top zipper but because of that it is easier to close without worrying about scratching the edges with the zipper. The macbook doesn't move around inside the case like it did in my felt case. It is bulkier than a felt bag though but that was to be expected. One can also charge it inside the case.
It also wasn't to expensive and I could order it from Amazon in Germany what wasn't possible with some of the other mentioned cases... All in all I really love it... ;-)

I hope that helps...

I got the Caison as well (also amazon.de) and it's a great fit for my 13" pro as well. Was thinking about the Harbor sleeves, but I honestly didn't want to spend so much money on a case that's probably less protective than this one. Of course the Harbor ones look much better.
