I just received the neon party for 16 inch M1. It’s actually not the neon party and is the same one sold on Amazon for half of the price I paid for this. Instead of a sleeve titled, “My gadget”, it’s just wrapped in plastic. Very disappointing. For those that can wait a little longer, I would not recommend these new hard shell cases. The lack of protection for the back corners is a problem and I expect top brands to remedy this issue. Given I have bumped the corners in the past, this is an accident waiting to happen.

Disappointing to hear, but appreciate the update. Looks like ALL these cases are being made at the same factory, despite branding differences. Hope time gives us more options beyond this disappointing first round.

Sure thing. Yes, seems that way. I don’t think the final product for at least the moshi or other top brands will include an exposed back. Protection for the back corners, even if it’s pretty subtle, make a huge difference for drops even if it’s lightly bumped. It seems the neon party doesn’t exist yet, and the fact they are advertising this on their website with that title shows they have no problem using false pretenses. Disappointing.

Just got this. UGH, doesn't fit -- despite the advertising. Too bad, since it's SUPER nice. I had a feeling + another member warned me after I ordered. Yet another return...

Was this the UESWILL one? I got that off Amazon and it's pretty nice. A bit bummed it doesn't support the back corners of the computer but I understand with the design. Still some protection is better than none!
Have no idea. So many of these are just the same thing rebranded

May Chen Compatible with MacBook Pro 16 inch 2021 Release A2485, Rubberized Frosted Matte See Through Hard Shell Case Keyboard Skin for MacBook Pro 16 inch with M1 Pro / M1 Max Chip & Touch ID, Black https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B09KRPV8B6...t_i_YFXVS38X32Q1EZJHY6MY?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Cool they have the same one here

just was not sure between the gradient purple or the cream pink..do you like your case..does it seem to cover up everything properly? How does the keyboard skin look?
Read the review and someone stated that the case on the back doesn't seem to fit the vent on the bottom and on the right perfectly is that true?

Finally a review from YouTube on the Mosiso. I do agree with many on this thread that all the current designs for the M1 max hardshells are identical. Must be the same Chinese product. He shows why the back is exposed, but still this seems to be an accident waiting to happen. Dust will easily get underneath the bottom case and will scratch that area overtime. I recommend a thorough cleaning every week for the current design. I am hoping moshi will come up with a solution. Their iglaze always seems to have a better design than the Chinese amazon products. It comes out in March.

I ordered this, should be in Tuesday. Cheap but looks like it will provide what I need.

does Moshi do MacBook cases? I haven't seen them at all, even for previous models.

Yes, for a while. I had the 2019 mbp 16inch iglaze. Light, durable, and better designed and protective than the typical amazon options, especially ibenzer and mosiso. I tried many cases for 2019 16inch mbp and the iglaze was the best. It’s much more expensive than the Amazon options though. However, I’m willing to pay a premium.

HARD SHELLS SECOND THOUGHTS

I think I cannot longer trust, hard shell makers.
Though I really like the concept of a clear hard shell for my mac.

Here is a photo, of my mbp, after eight years of hard shell enclosure. A bit dusty, but cannot be more clean anymore.
Believe me, I am very protective with my mbp all the time.
It seems that happened without even realizing it.
It deformated my mbp, and the screen lid cannot close anymore.
Not just a simple gap, but rather a big one!

I am surprised that I am the only one with such problems.
The bottom part of the shell, that I no longer have it as I nervously trashed it some time ago,
played a role, in not keeping in place the bottom of my mbp, I guess.
It seems to be a combination of
- bad materials
- many years of use
- I do not know what else, but surely it should be additional reasons.

I do not know if you keep your macs just a couple of years.
Then maybe everything it is ok.
But unfortunately this solution did not worked for me.

I wait to hear your thoughts on my misfortune.

The moment they have one available for the 14in I’m all over it. I usually prefer real leather but these feel quite special and not vinyl at all.

Tried the 13in and it NEARLY fit, but not quite.

The pro case is available now. Looks like the same design as the others, albeit with a soft rubber-like coating. I’ve heard good things from this brand, though I’ve only tried ibenzer and moshi products. If anyone wants to try it, let us know how it works.

Wow! That is really unfortunate.

I refuse to use any type of shell for my MBPs/MBAs. I would rather use a skin. One of the reasons that I am so leery of shells is the dust and dirt that get trapped in between the surfaces and needing/wanting to remove the shell frequently to clean. Also, if the bottom isn't grated, I was afraid of any heat build-up.

Granted, a skin does not provide full protection against dings, etc, but I use a sleeve/backpack for portability and my laptops have always been sold or traded in in pristine condition.

Yes, even the advertising matches that of the other cases. I'm going to bet that this is identical to the other cases, whatever they claim might differentiate it.

That would be nice if they had it available for the 14 inch macbook pro..and also available in purple
Edit: Found the 14 inch case but its only available in black and clear

I wouldn’t be surprised, as it seems there is only one design. Hopefully they will alter the design to include the protected corners, but I’m starting think it would be very difficult to avoid jamming the hinge. I guess the best bet is using a skin and a case, albeit installing and removing a skin is a pain.

Yeah, this looks like other cases and same manufacturer as well. I'm holding off until a reputable brand releases a case.

Wow that is horrible. It’s hard to tell from the picture, but what is causing that discoloration? Was it gunk that built up over time? Or some kind of friction?

I’ve had a hard shell on my 2012 MacBook Air since… 2012. I just opened it up and checked it and it’s pristine. So I’m wondering what could have cause that for you

Sadly that won’t be till at least the spring. Moshi won’t be available till spring and there’s not too many other reputable brands. Ibenzer used to be a reputable brand as it’s based in New York and incase has a bad track record for cracked shells.

I honestly don't trust Ibenzer, it's just another drop shipper. They may have a New York office, but they are just importing from Aliexpress. Someone mentioned Moshi before as well, but they dont seem to have anything for 2020 models MBP or Air. Since Incase is listed on Apple's store as well, my money is on Incase or Tech21 (they are on Apple's store https://www.apple.com/shop/accessor...age=1&f=13inchmacbookair2020m1&fh=4598+8a4b3a)
