I just received this hard case.
Ordered Nov 19th, arrived Dec 22.
AliExpress link
Mine is “Matte Black”

All in all, I have to say I’m pretty dang impressed. Now, I’ve purchased these type of cases before. The plastic tends to be more brittle than something like an Incase, or some other name brand. Over time, it’ll start to crack around the molded clasps. Whatever. I don’t lose sleep over it. The fact that it’s a) available and b) protects and looks good. It’s worth it.

There are 2 photos of my thumb in frame. NOTE The small amount of play in the case. I think this is just because there’s no where for the case to clip onto. It’s not a huge deal, but worth mentioning.

Also, this case came with silicone port guards, a keyboard cover, and a screen protector.
One more question regarding your case and the additional accessories, is the screen protector, that came together with the case, so thick?
And are you planning to apply it to the screen? If so, please let me know and comment on this. I just applied a screen protector a few days ago but then I removed, because the lid felt like it was not closing properly. I was afraid of damaging the display.

It feels pretty thin. I’m not going to apply it. I’m super careful with my stuff and prefer to not have to look through a plastic lens if I don’t have to. This stuff is like those cell phone screen protectors; with a back and front protective layer.

I am same as well but sometimes my screen gets dusts and I get stressed when those are on there. And I am usually afraid of scratching the screen while wiping it etc. And also the staingate might be an issue as well

I would use it if I decided I needed the keyboard cover. I’d hate for the silicone or whatever this thing is made from to damage the screen by leaving an imprint or stain, when closed.

This is why I bought a rechargeable Air duster thingy. It's pretty powerful and it's so nice using them to dust my screen . Since here it's so dusty. And dust always accumulates on the screen

My new case just arrived from Etsy for the 14-inch. It's glorious.

FYI if anyone is planning to get this Woolnut Zipper Sleeve for the 16" MBP (specifically from Amazon), it doesn't really work that well with the new MBP. My wife ordered this for me and while it did barely fit the 2021 16" MBP, it was an extremely tight fit and I was worried that the zipper would scratch my machine. For those wanting a Woolnut sleeve for the new MBP, I suggest ordering directly from their website, and not Amazon. Their Amazon storefront doesn't seem to have the new ones.

That being said, if there's anyone on the fence about Woolnut in general, I can highly recommend it. I had a sleeve for my M1 MacBook Air, and my wife has a sleeve for her 2019 16" MBP. Very high quality and it's as good as new. Great brand.

FWIW, I tried the zipper sleeve with her 2019 16" MBP, and it worked like a dream. While it wasn't a tight fit, it was snug enough that the MBP wouldn't be moving around.

There is book book, very similar and more real book looking.
Like it! Especially that it also zipper closes.
But looks like not yet…

>> Our current BookBook is not compatible with the 16-inch or 14-inch MacBook Pro (2021) ...yet.
We will be making new BookBooks specifically for these devices, however, due to pandemic-related manufacturing delays and current supply-chain issues, we anticipate it will likely be Spring 2022 before they are available.

Had anyone used the Peak Design Everyday Backpack V2 with the 2021 16”? Considering buying one but would love to know how it fits.

Wrapped the wife's 14" MBP in a skin from Fishskyn ($25) and got her a Joli Originals sleeve (Smooth Brown Leather with Brown Wool).
Fishskyn did a nice job with the apple cutout and there's about 1mm on all edges left. The only shame is that you cover up the etched MacBook Pro on the bottom cover. Nice cutouts on the bottom for the feet and the vents. The adhesive wasn't too aggressive, so it can be peeled up a few times to get the alignment just right.
For the Joli Original - Really great product and presentation from H & J. It's a great fit to the MBP with just enough tightness/friction for removal. Great quality and feel on the leather. Definitely completed the package for the wife and she's loving it.

Looks lovely, do you need to stick those skin on? Is it easy to peel off?

Yes, it's a sticker basically. It does peel off very easy. On first application, it was not too strong so you could adjust it before really smoothing it down - and it didn't stretch. After full application, if you remove it, expect it to stretch and be unusable after that. At $29, it's not too bad of a hit. Definitely not trying to sell these, but if you want the link:

I started w/ Dbrand skins and love it on my own MBP but they didn't have designs the wife like to her taste. These guys use 3M film, so it's a bit stronger adhesive, but really well made, too.

Applied the SopiGuard "Forged Carbon" skin to my 16" MBP last night, loving the way it looks. Still deciding on whether want to keep the skin on the trackpad.

Now just waiting for my Joli sleeve!

If you do try and remove the skin from the track pad, I recommend warming it up a little with a blow dryer. Not too hot, but warm to the touch...should help loosen the adhesive a little.

Has anyone bought the Toastmade custom Macbook case? I've been thinking about it but a) it's expensive and b) I think I read something that's it's really hard to take off...

Hmm it has been 2 months since the release of these new MBPs and there are still no hard cases coming out from those reputable third-party manufacturers. Probably having some design difficulty?

Does anyone have any suggestions for a backpack that would fit the 16” in a Woolnut sleeve?

Dimensions:
Width: 27.5 cm (10.8 inches)
Height: 39 cm (15.4 inches)
Depth: 1.5 cm (0.6 inches)

I was looking at the Waterfield bolt or Mezzo but both won’t fit the sleeve… Thinking about a Herschel Little America which looks like it might work.
