Have to quote myself :D

This thing looks and feels good, but it is not for the retina MacBook Pro!
I just got confused by the title saying "MacBook Pro (Retina)".
Its for the bold books :(

Gonna get something else.

After weeks of searching and reading in forums.... I just found the perfect sleeve I think :)

I wanted one sleeve that fits perfectly without any more pockets or whatsoever.

Booq Taipan Spacesuit

I will inform you whenever it arrives.

Rutledge BookBook from TwelveSouth

These just came out, and look like they're actually made for the 13" MBPr. I was wondering if anyone had tried them out yet.

The previous model seemed to be hit or miss as far as the 13" MBPr was concerned.

Again dont go with zipper bags. They will mark your macbook. Check up youtube videos, tons of people complaining about it.

And tons of people, me included, using good quality neoprene sleeves without any issues. Sure, get the cheapest possible sleeve from Amazon, and you might have a bare zipper against your laptop. YMMV. But a well made sleeve has a protective ridge to guard the laptop.

First post on here, due to only getting my rMBP 13" yesterday but been an iMac user for a number of years so I'm glad I found this forum.

As a temporary hard case, for home use I bought an 'Ion Factory CandyShell Ash Slim Hard Shell case' and will supplement this with an 'outdoor case' soon.

First impressions are very good with all the ports accessible and build quality seem fine for under £30.00......ooh and the logo shines through nicely too

Looks like this will be my goto forum now...

Got my hands on one of these for my MacBook Pro. Never heard of the brand before though (Woolnut)....but the sleeve does it's job in a pretty sleek and nice way! :)

Got my brown leather sleeve from MintCases about 6 weeks ago.

Has held up wonderfully; stitches are all still perfect. I carry it with me daily, inside of a backpack and out. The leather is soft to the touch and will look better and better the more scuffed it gets (it's not scuffing easily with minor care by myself). The wool lining has not scratched my 15" MBP at all, and it fits snugly.

It is much less shiny than the pictures on their website. The pics on the website almost look like it has that shiny, synthetic leather look. None of that here; no mistaking it for faux leather. The leather is quite thick too, they definitely didn't skimp on materials.

I am staying with these guys for when I need an iPad sleeve.

Is the brown as light as it looks in the pictures on the website?

Microphone ports on late 2013 15" rMBP?

Is it for the 2012 or 2013 MacBook Pro with Retina 15"?

I don't think either (or any) case yet accounts for the new side microphone ports on the 2013 15".

I purchased a new 15" rMBP two weeks ago at an official Apple store in the UK. The receipt, serial number and information in About This Mac state it is a late 2013 model. However, I do not have side microphone ports. In the photos on the Apple UK website, it shows these ports on the 13" model but not on the 15" model. Should my 15" have these ports? I'm in a bit of a panic right now!

My 15" late 2013 (October) absolutely has side (left) microphone ports. As it should.

I will have to go back to the Apple store next week and see what they say. But from the official tech specs, it shows the mic ports on the side of the mid 2012 and early 2013 models, but not the late 2013:

Odd. Maybe they have slightly different versions in different parts of the world?

As this has been playing on my mind, I have spent some time searching the Internet. I found this somewhat comforting:

I will pay a visit to the Apple store later this week and see what they say. My MBP says it is a late 2013 model in the About This Mac info and seems to have the right model/serial numbers.

TO BE CLEAR: I am referencing the 2013 15" (not 13") Retina MacBook Pro.

I have the late 2013. There are two new microphone ports, on the left side. They are not under the grille or anywhere else but on the left side.

That photo is of the 13", which does have the holes on the side. The newest 15" does not. Look at the photos here:

https://www.apple.com/macbook-pro/features-retina/

Also click on the dual mics tab under the Audio and Visual section and it shows that the twin mics are under the left speaker grill near to the top.

Jesus. I have the late 2013 MacBook Pro with Retina Display 15". Before that I had the 2012 Macbook Pro with Retina Display 15".

The 2012 did not have two microphone ports on the left side.

The 2013, which I am now typing on, DOES have two new microphone ports on the left side.

Maybe it's different for European MacBooks. My late 2013 15" rMBP doesn't have the microphone holes.

It might be a region thing. I was at the Apple store this morning and none of the many 15" rMBPs on display had the holes. I asked one of the Apple employees and he said he has never seen one with the holes on the side. The 13" ones do have the holes. Odd that is seems they are different in different countries. Now that I am sure I have a late 2013 model and need not worry about the holes, I ordered the Speck case for it.
