In the above YouTube video link showing how to apply Otterbox, that guy talks about spraying some solution that he is holding directly on the body of Macbook, is that safe ? That looks freakin scary to spray some solution directly on the Mac surface ? How safe is that ?

It's perfectly safe as long as you aren't overzealous and hose down your laptop. You have to use some kind of solution or soap/water mix with all of those skins so you can position it after placing it on the surface and so you don't leave fingerprints on the adhesive size.

Sounds a big hassle and not so much of a good idea as a product I would stay away from such a product !

I bought one from their site. It was advertised for the new 13" retina and I'm having no problems closing the machine with it in place. Are you sure you bought the newer model?

Afaik they only have a couple models and they are all the same thickness, 5mm. The lid just doesn't reach the final closing point where the magnets or positive hinge mechanism to keep it shut engages.

Just to make sure I'm not crazy I just took out my Mac and turned it upside down - lid stays engaged and shut! The difference may not be in the thickness but in the width. I say this because when I first got it I noticed that it didn't cover the trackpad as nicely as the same cover I had on my old 15" classic Macbook. I emailed them and got a reply that the retina covers were made that way deliberately because the retina had less clearance between the keyboard and the screen. In any case my machine definitely closes properly with the cover in place.

Its totally fine to do that. Just dont drench your macbook in water. Pray from a bit far so that the water sprays around the surface instead of a jetstream going through the joints. I have been doing this on my ipad's, iphones and now the android phones.
Wet application is totally fine. Look up youtube for wet install screen protectors.

Well whatever floats your boat. People have been using the same types of skins for phones, laptops, and tablets for years and years now. They offer great protection from scratches and in the case of the Wrapsol one IMHO add grip and make the laptop look better.

Looking for a case for everyday train ride, no need for too much extra space. But should have a zipper/closure and handle, don't trust the sleeves (or don't trus me not to drop them).

Also a backback for travels, don't need too much space as I won't put much into it besides power adapter, cables and maybe a mouse.

Oh, I am a sucker for good leather, very happy with my Vaja iPad case, but the Vaja isn't really an option here.

So I scanned through the 92 pages and found some nice stuff, maybe you have some warnings/recommendations or alternatives?

Hard Graft Grab Laptop case
Looks very nice and I like the handle. Not sure how the wool will stand the tests of time and dirt - experiences?

Waterfield Cityslicker
Liked the PS Vita case already, and it has optional handle and shoulder strap plus some extra space.

Solo Executive 15.6" Leather Backpack
Sounds like a good price for a full grain leather backpack. But I could use something half the thickness -any suggestions?

I just picked up the Cityslicker case having been a WF Sleevecase owner previously. I like it a lot, it has a ton of padding, a fake fur type interior which won't scratch anything, and it's not too thick. It has enough storage for a few things and it looks great. I'll take some pictures of it later if you want. I like that without the strap the d-rings are very small and it's very easy to just carry by itself if you want. It's a little thicker than my Sleevecase, I wish it was just a tad thinner, but it looks much better with the leather flap.

Sure make some pics with rMBP in it. From what I have seen for me it has just the right amount of extra space in the pockets.

Here are three pictures. If you want some hi-res ones click on the links. It was a really tight fit initially but is breaking in a bit now, so the sides don't really bow out as much as in these pictures which I took right when I first unboxed it. I was surprised the case has a rigid plastic underneath the nylon, the Sleevecase is just nylon and neoprene and very flexible.

Professional briefcase that can fit a pair of shoes?

Anyone know of a professional briefcase that has a separate shoe compartment? Joys of living in the Northeast with tons of snow and salt and being a consultant that needs to get into C level meetings so a messenger bag or backpack doesn't work...

I have ordered the otterbox skin for the top and the bottom plus the track pad and arm rest, and BSE skins for the sides.
I am still contemplating on getting the PicasoLabs case, as people here mentioned the hadn't received their cases for 8 weeks, infact to some even 6 months.

So I was going to order a sleeve from Pack & Smooch... but apparently they don't ship to California??... You can select USA from their drop-down list, no state of CA.

WTF?...

Has anyone in California successfully ordered from them? I'm a bit hesitant to pay money if I can't even input my address in hopes of getting the product.

What i am not very comfortable about in any sleeve case is the zipper or the buttons to close it. They cause an indentation or mark on your notebook. I am not very comfortable about Pack & Smooch sleeves not leaving small marks or indentation on the macbook.

Any decent sleeve should have a flap or protective ridge (which comes together when zipped) to prevent contact with the zipper. If its they've gone the ridge route its easier slipping your notebook in/out but you have to be more careful you don't make contact with the zipper when putting it in/taking it out. The flap type obviously covers one side of the zipper but is slightly more cumbersome and if your in a hurry you might forget to pull the flap out leaving the notebook potentially exposed to the zipper.

I have had not types (STM sleeve with flap and KNOMO with ridge at moment) and touch wood haven't had the zipper mark my MBPs.

WRT the button type sleeves. If closing/opening the buttons will damage the notebook, the sleeve not likely to protect it anyway so pick one with better protection.

Thanks for your reply. I have the PicasoLabs Leather sleeve in mind, no buttons, no zippers, the entire sleeve made with just pure leather and thread.

I'd seen a youtube video where the owner pointed out the two indentation marks the buttons on the P&S sleeve made on the top of his macbook.

Just returning a Kuzy case that is clearly not meant for new retinas as the bottom doesn't fit properly.

Is there *any* case on the market that fits?

xxskorpion88xx,

I want to understand how the Burnoaa would fit my particular laptop model.

Would you say it's a very flexible or stiff material?

If my laptop is 19mm thick (the inner dimensions of the bag are up to 35mm thick so there's space!) but 11.4mm too narrow, do you see that my laptop would fit perfectly even so or do I need to get a bigger model?

Would be super-happy to understand this about the otherwise quite undocumented Burnoaa bags *and* their support seems to speak very little english -

Thanks!

Anybody who has usèd Cote & Ciel Zippered Sleeves for Retina MacBook Pro 15 Inches, question to you guys, with the zip opening on top of the sleeves being narrow as in it only opens till a certain level both sides is it easy from that much opening to slide the MacBook Pro inside ? Is the zip opening not too narrow ? I have marked the zip opening on the sleeve please see the attached pictures...

Again dont go with zipper bags. They will mark your macbook. Check up youtube videos, tons of people complaining about it.

I personally like the incase sleeves. They're simple and cheap and does the job! No need to spend $100+ on premium leather and wool, because that's going to help my protect my MacBook how??

I decided to get one yesterday from BB for $39.95, hoping that within the 30 day return/exchange policy incase will come out with a sleeve specific for the rMBP. The one below fits, but it's got a bit of slack. I needed one now, I've been paranoid since last week.

ehh, my thumb looks weird.

So...has anyone actually successfully completed an order from pack & smooch? Do you just use their etsy shop and not their direct site? Their direct site is a freaking disaster. Can't select my state, keep getting shipped to their german site, keep getting errors when trying to check out. It seems like they really do not want my money.
