Here's the new link for this ebayer's ram (s/he sold out of the other batch!). This is even better than the dabs offer in my previous post, no? Has anyone actually received/used this? They are based in the US, which could cause problems. What does everyone think? And let me know b4 u buy it yourself! :p ;)

MattQiu, your post has taken a huge wight off my shoulders!! I've had my RAm (from the same seller) for what seems like an age now, just sitting there on my shelf begging to be used! My Macbook should ship by the end of this week (possibly tomorrow according to the apple woman on the phone), so will hoepfully arrive next week.

The assurance that yours works makes me feel a whole lot better, and am now looking forward to using my macboo rather than thinking of the thigns that could go wrong!

Ordered mine on Saturday, it was dispatched today and should be with me tomorrow or Thurs. No-longer a sourcing issue it would seem.

I'll keep y'all posted.

Dave

Yes Yes.

Received the ram today (Orcalogic), ordered it on Sat. I've also just received my Macbook! I type from it as we speak. :D

I've put the 2 gb from Orca straight in my Intel iMac 1.83. I've put the Apple stock ram (the 1gb stick that I bought my iMac with - its Micron btw) in this Macbook along with the other 256 stock that was already in here. The Macbook's running 1.25 ram, and it seems to be flying (oh and btw the way it is the quietiest Mac I've ever used!)

I've run the memtest Terminal application on my iMac to put the Orcastuff through its paces. I ran three sessions, as it suggests in the notes that come with the download. It's just finished and it passed all the tests 3 times. Not sure if there is a more complicated way of breaking down the results, but it confirmed that every single test it gave the ram was 'OK', so there we are.

Now to get a 7200 HD!:p ;)

Your warning is a bit too late :( i've already ordered a 1GB stick from ebay and it's on the way...are u sure it's the RAM that was faulty? and anyidea what the problem was?

I am sure it was the RAM. I have even since reinstalled it in the machine (since things work SO much faster) but faults soon emerge. I get unexpected errors a lot with it in. So I am just saving up to by 2 x 512.

And the Scan stuff works just fine. What a beggar to put the RAM in though. Is this really better than the old pop the keyboard off way?

It's a right pain with all the screws and especially having to push it in that hard. I got 2gb of the 'Adata' stuff from ebay. Arrived in a letter like envelope. My macbook now flies. with 512mb I was not yet properly and fully in love. Now I am!

UPDATE: MACBOOK SUDDENLY CRASHES. Since I installed the ram I have only made 2 changes. I have brought over my Mail from my macmini and plugged in the tvmini both of these have never given me problems. I ran the ramtest with flying colours ... could it be the RAM is faulty and causing the macbook to crash? Help :|

Any update on this stuff? :)

Crash alert. My MacBook has now crashed twice with the Adata RAM discussed earlier in this thread. Searching for the errors in my logs I came across this thread about RAM re: MacBookPro's but it seems pretty similar.

http://www.macintouch.com/readerreports/macbookpro/topic4139.html

They have plenty of posts from all varieties of generic RAM with people surprised how intolerant the MBP / MB is. The only RAM which seems to make it is the Samsung RAM (is it the same as the ebay stuff - I haven't checked).

I don't like my MacBook randomly crashing so I think it is bye bye time for the Adata stuff (was too good to be true) and Samsung here we come.

Phew! I almost ordered some of that ADATA stuff last night as well!

So where can we get this Samsung stuff from then? I'm not paying £420 to get it from the Apple Store, that's for sure!!!

Edit: Is this the stuff? http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Samsung_Memory.html (The one at the bottom of the page!)

I mixed Corsair value ram (from scan) with crucial ram in my macbook and it's working great!

No problems with the 2GB of A-DATA RAM from eBay here either. It's been working fine for the past two weeks since I got the MacBook.

Ran the machine through several hours of memtest without any sign of problems.

Same here, the only problem I have is that the end of my pointing finger on my left hand is still numb from pushing in the memory sticks, took three attempts to finally get the machine working. God those little screws are annoying :)

Also the 'r' key keeps getting stuck in the pressed position, hoping it'll work itself out, as a trip to the trafford center when you don't drive is a bit of a nightmare. :)

Well, I've just ordered the Corsair Value stuff from scan.co.uk for £112. I avoided the rather extortionate delivery cost of £7 by agreeing to pick it up at the warehouse

Unfortunately i had to pay a very high shipping charge because i'm in ireland. Next time though i'll organise DHL myself to go pick it up. It would be a damn sight cheaper.

Is this through scan.co.uk? Will they not have their own delivery service which you have to use?

They truly are a remarkable company. I ordered my RAM literally 45 mins ago, and I've already got an email saying I can pick it up now if I want as its waiting behind the desk. I might go round this afternoon; it only takes an hour to get there by train.

Kudos to Scan!

I so really want my Adata RAM to be fine! I've emailed the ebay guy and he's getting someone to contact me. I've also run Memtest lots and it isn't producing any errors. The crash logs suggest it's the RAM though.

How can I find out for sure it is the RAM?

Got mine through the other week, also ordered it from scan, and with a little (well a lot) of help from my boyfriend, installed it with no problems and my MacBook is perfect, more than perfect. No problems here!

I would definitely recommend Corsair Value RAM.

Cath.

I just installed a stick of the 1gb corsair value ram into my macbook as well. Works flawlessly.

The multitasking/loading performance is so much improved over the stock 512mb RAM that I dont think I'm going to replace the other 256mb until leopard.

Well, I picked up my 2 x 1GB Corsiar Value RAM from scan.co.uk, although my Macbook has yet to arrived.

What have I learnt from the experience? That Horwich is a bit grim... :(

Wey!Macbook arrived this morn. Installed everything with the stock 512 RAM. Have put my 2GB in now (same as below) and is working fine. Was quite hard toi get the ram in, but not as hard as some were making out.Anyway, running memtestosx at the moment-if anythign goes wrong, you can expect to see a new thread started asking for help!!
