So I ordered my 32gb black wifi ipad2 from B&H on march 31st. These people have the WORST customer service I've ever encountered. I've been calling them for a week now to try and get information on my ipad. They will never tell you when or how much of a shipment they are expecting. They will never tell you where you stand on the wait list. When I ordered my ipad, they told me 2-3 weeks tops. Its been almost 6. When I asked them to upgrade my shipping they flat out said NO. I would never order from them. I've been calling around to see if anyone else has them in stock and by far J&R has been the most helpful. They tell you exactly when and how much of a stock they'll be getting.

Shipping upgrades cost companies money and reduce their profit margins. So they have less money to pay the people we're harassing on the phones. It doesn't hurt to ask and it's nice if they give you one, but are you really entitled to a shipping upgrade?

I agree with you in that it does cost the company money. But they've had my money since March. It's been 6 weeks. I would think that if you tell someone that they will have their item by a certain time, you stick with the deal. If not you do everything possible to get it to them as soon as you can.

LOL Nice try.. They aren't charging anyone's credit card until the iPad2 actually ships. So no they don't have your money.

Actually YES they do charge before it ships. We're talking about B&H here not macconection. They DEFINITELY charged my credit card on the date that I placed the order. Maybe you should do your research before calling someone a liar. Thank you

Also, B&H - like macconnection - are at the mercy of Apple for their supply. In my experience, both have been great companies and quick to get my orders out, but that's difficult to do when demand so far exceeds supply.

B&H is a good company, I just feel like they haven't handled the situation correctly. You shouldn't tell someone there going to get something in 2-3 weeks when you don't know that for sure, but to their credit they don't do that anymore.

There's a valid point here. My impression is that everyone is at Apple's mercy in terms of receiving units and that nobody knows what's coming, when it's coming, and how many are coming. However, all of the online retailers seemed comfortable telling you when your order should ship. My guess is that they downplay the uncertainty in order to keep your business, but it would be cool if they were a bit more upfront about it.

FYI - I talked to macconnection today and they said they might get a shipment friday, but she was clear that this was unsure, as was the number of iPads they were expecting. However she said that based on what Apple was telling them they were pretty hopeful that they'd have enough to fill all backorders by the end of the month.

She also said that the delay was due in part to Apple shipping so many units internationally. This jibes with what my German friend told me - that pretty much every iPad 2 model is in stock and readily available for them.

I ended up picking up a 64GB wifi black at my local Apple store today and canceling my macconnection pre-order. Yippie!

my 16gb wifi placed on 4/1...still no update.
i chatted with them every week, every week being told expecting next friday..
6 weeks now, for saving the sale tax..

End of May!

My latest chat with mcconnection.com isn't going to make anyone here feel better.

[Me] Hi, So we are coming up to yet another "possibly this Friday" tomorrow for the ETA of back order #xxxxxxx. What's the latest? Thanks.
[Mike B] no, not this Friday. Apple was in here Yesterday and they said that all bckorders should be filled by the end of the month. That's the only info we have this time.

Hey, look at the positive side. Apple would have fixed all the backlight bleeding issues by then, right? :)

You got this from macconnection.com?

I ordered on the same day for the same model. After I saw your post, I contacted them. They claim that they have not received any units of that model since my order date.

April 4 Order Shipped!

Same here - Ordered 16GB WiFi Black on 4/4 from macconnection.com, and just got my shipping notice with expected delivery on 5/18.

Only 6 1/2 weeks.

Why is it bad for movies, light leaks under the frame ?

A white frame around the whole movie when you are watching it, is bothersome. But, if you don't care, then it's great for movies. ;)

I agree. Didn't get the white iPad for this reason alone. Played with it in store and found the frame distracting.

The white is great for browsing
But I travel quite a bit so I'm on planes a lot so it's movie time for me.

The white bezel almost glows in the dark. It was sooo freaking distracting I finally caved and sold it on eBay - with fees I lost $45 from what I paid w tax so I had to buy from b&h to avoid paying tax. So it really became time and a $$ loss ($398 no tax from b&h)

But it's worth it - god it was worth it

I had the yooboa case first which hid a lot of the white but then went with the switch easy and bam!!! All white border
