I made USB disk but it does not boot on my imac 9,1. while pressing option key (alt) boots straight from mainSDD
If i try other Mac it can boot from this USB
It sounds like your machine is just not registering your key press. Make sure you're suing a USB keyboard, and if you're using a PC keyboard, hold down the Alt key.

Has anyone's computer screen gone black for a second randomly? It stopped my music. Some kind of kernel panic? (5,5 here)

I have noticed an issue on my 2009 iMac where the screen brightness controls no-longer work. The screen is stuck in a permanent 'middle' brightness regardless of the settings.

If I boot into 10.11.6, the brightness controls work as expected, but as soon as 10.12.5 starts, the screen dims or brightens to a fixed 'middle'.

I've had 10.12 installed on this for a very long time now and this used to work until, I think, 10.12.4.

Apologies if I have missed this discussed, but any help would be appreciated :)

I have been running Sierra on My MacBook Pro 5.1 from release day and upgraded along the way so it was running 10.12.4 with no issues.

For other reasons I wanted to reinstall so for the ease of use I downloaded the latest @dosdude1 tool. It installed fine and I finally had everything installed, downloaded and synced again. I wanted to enable trim on my Plextor SSD with the "sudo trimforce enable" command like I've always done but now my Sierra installation is stuck on login screen. Can't move cursor :/

Any suggestions why this happened. I was running 10.12.4 with trim enabled (without any issues) before my reinstall with the new versions of @dosdude1's tool. I still have trim enabled on my second partition on the SSD with El Capitan and it works flawlessly

It's not frozen; the USB kernel extensions got disabled, and you'll have to turn off SIP and recreate the kernel cache to get it working again.

So as a further update on this... It still doesn't work, however I have found that when it starts, macOS seems to think the brightness is at Max already.

I tried a PRAM reset a couple of times, and every time when booting Sierra the brightness is at maximum, even though it's dim.

Booting to El Capitan does not have this issue.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Yes. Brightness control stopped working as of 10.12.4 on MacBook5,2s and on supported Macs that have had their screens replaced. Relevant thread: https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...a-10-12-4-beta-3.2033660/page-2#post-24520408, relevant Hackintosh guide for Intel chipsets: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...rol-using-applebacklightinjector-kext.218222/ -- @dosdude1 any updates on this? If it's an unsupported display issue, couldn't we use a display override?

I've been looking into this, haven't yet been able to figure out which file is responsible.

In case it's helpful, I can confirm that macOS is not updating the 'backlight-level' in nvram when you update the brightness.

The brightest for my iMac is %00%04, however Sierra sets a default of %ff%00 and it doesn't appear to read or write the value when you change the brightness (tested by setting it, adjusting the brightness and checking the value again).

Edit: Funnily enough, I replaced the screen too, so my iMac is both unsupported and has a replacement screen.

As already written, same problem on my iMac 7,1 (mid 2007, upgraded with T9300 CPU), with it's original screen (NO replacement).

Hi, :)

I'm running 10.12.4 thanks to the patch, but I can't update my apps via the App Store : I get the list of avalaible updates, but when I try to download them, it freezes.
I also tried to download apps from the store, but it stays in the install state with the progress bar not moving.
I also tried with AUS Enabler.

Macbook Pro Early 2008 (4.1), SIP disabled.

Thank you in advance for your help.

BCM943224PCIEBT confirmed working in an Early 2009 Mac mini (although I'm sure someone has probably already said this). The antenna leads connected with no problem at all.

Yeah, that's the card from the A1342 MacBook. Also compatible with the Late-'08/Mid-'09 MacBook Air.

Yes, but I was happy about the perfect fit of the antenna leads because that was not the case on my Late 2008 MacBook Air. Very subtle change Apple must've made, and even comparing the original cards out of both Macs side-by-side it is difficult to notice any difference.

I can confirm that it works! I did that on my mac mini 2009 a few weeks ago, you just have to be careful putting it back together because the connections snap out of place easy, I just used a old plastic card to cut out the size from the stock one, made the 3 little holes to hold it in place then with some tape to help out you can do it, with a little imagination.

Have my Macbook pro 17" 2009 and my Mac mini 2009 running Sierra like a charm thanks to this thread and dosdude1 :)

In a month or so lets see what macOS 10.13 brings us :p

Don't use AUSEnabler, I'm pretty sure the server for it isn't even up anymore... Use Czo's patch, which is included with the Sierra Patch Tool, or can be downloaded in the form of a script from my webpage.

Don't copy and paste the script... You need to open a Terminal window, and execute the script from there. (./swupatch.sh). Then check the App Store. If it still doesn't show up, run "sudo softwareupdate --list" in Terminal.
