Hi, :)

I'm running 10.12.4 thanks to the patch, but I can't update my apps via the App Store : I get the list of avalaible updates, but when I try to download them, it freezes.
I also tried to download apps from the store, but it stays in the install state with the progress bar not moving.
I also tried with AUS Enabler.

Macbook Pro Early 2008 (4.1), SIP disabled.

Thank you in advance for your help.
Can someone help me or tell me if this has something to do with the patch ?
I've got this software update problem since the 10.12.3 upgrade (I don't remember if for the previous 10.12's successful software updates, I used AUS ENABLER or APPLE's catalog, sorry)

As far as i know, patch or AUS Enabler are for OS updates not AppStore updates. You should google about how to reset AppStore app and then try to update your apps.

Hi guys,

Restarted my MacBook today and the trackpad and keyboard are completely unresponsive.

I can use the keyboard to navigate through the start up disks. I can boot into windows using bootcamp and they both work flawlessly.

However booting into OSX they both turn unresponsive at the login screen. I've tried numerous external devices and the same results.

Disk checks using recovery disk made no difference. I would like to reinstall sierra. But came across the problem of my MacBook not being supported. Will I have to clean install Yosemite and reinstall sierra? A little lost as to how to go about this. Thanks

You need to reboot to recovery, disable SIP and then:

You can simply re-run the post-install patch with the LegacyUSB patch selected, and then select "Force Cache Rebuild" before rebooting.

NightEnabler
This little applet uses PikerAlpha's proof of concept to enable Night Shift on older systems (pre-2012 Macs).

Note: To remove the patch, simply run NightEnabler again, and select "Remove Patch".
Backups are kept in ~/Library/Application Support/NightEnabler

I can't run this patch in my macbook late 2008 model, I wonder why, is there something that I missed?

Thanks for the prompt response. I have SIP disabled anyway. Will probably need to make a new USB with the patch tool on it.

Odd how a random restart has borked it. It's been running flawlessly since Sierra was launched after following the steps on this thread (5 months easily).

I will try what you mentioned tonight and report back.

That didn't work, thanks anyway.
I did a clean install and it seems to work now.

@Vanyos , @Brale - what both Czo and Foxlet did with their patches was to disable the platform check that the Mac App Store / SoftwareUpdater did for any OS updates (they simply used different mechanisms for "tricking" the service/daemon to providing these updates).
I honestly can't think of any Apps that care which Mac you have - it's possible that there could be Apps out there to query the service, but I'm not aware of any.

Anyone using Foxlet's AUS Enabler should switch to the latest version of dosdude1's tool and patch their system, which utilizes Czo's patch to disable the platform check locally.

There really haven't been enough kudos thrown @foxlet 's way - he really opened himself up to the Apple Legal evil empire by doing what he did. Most people don't understand just how aggressive Apple is with trying to police their software licensing.

How that new script works (here)?
Do I need AUS Enabler anymore?

Or is this script only update script to AUS Enabler?
Czo's original posting of his patch's info here: #3982
You can see more info in the links on page #1 (Using dylib injection to fake out system checks...)

No, you don't need AUS enabler anymore - it's an either/or scenario. Both are workarounds for the platform check.

@foxlet , @dosdude1 - if AUS Enabler is deprecated, shouldn't it be removed from page #1? (Will only cause confusion otherwise).

Is it possible that you don't have anything to update? Which update are you looking for?

my mac version is 10.12.5 beta ( 16F43c) , was wondering is there anymore updates after this beta or this is the latest? If there is more update after this version, then somethings must be wrong as i did use Czo script and appstore still show no updates available.

I am trying to install on a 2009 Macbook (5,2) and the installer keeps giving an error at the end of the install process that says MacOS cannot be installed on your computer. Insufficient Privileges. I tried to install a few times and even tried a clean install and still receive the same error. I'm in a bind now that my hdd has no OS installed. Any ideas on what I can try to get the installer to complete?

Hi, I have an iMac 9,1 (early 2009) and I used the dosdude1's Sierra patching tool. After installing and letting it reboot, it will not boot up, so I had no opportunity to run the post-install utility. There is no startup chime and there is a gray screen with the prohibited symbol. After a few seconds it shuts itself off. Holding Option key or any key combo for recovery or any sort thing will not work. I cannot select any medium to boot from, CD or USB. Searching leads me to believe the hard drive has failed, but I was using the iMac just fine before doing this install, so I am unsure. Does that seem likely? And if it is kaput, would I have to format a new hard drive in any special way?

Thanks for any advice.

Hi, Sorry if asked before but this discussion goes on forever and i can't see to search. I did the sucessful install on an early 2008 iMac.

The wireless, as noted, does't work but ethernet option fine. I have an audio issue which is that i have only one volume, flat out full on. So, yes in some, for example video playback i can reduce the volume using their sliders, but the system volume is always maxed out. When i use sound mute or up or down keys, i get the graphics and all suggesting the sound is being increased or lowered or muted, but that doen't really happen, the sound stays full tilt on. Anybody had the same issue and resolved it

Run "sudo softwareupdate --list" in Terminal after installing Czo's patch.

Did you apply the volume control patch in the post-install tool? That should fix that issue.
