@dosdude1

Hi - my Sierra PB is missing its PlatformSupport.plist in CoreServices. Does your post-install remove it? Won't that be a problem for updates etc...?

Also what do you tweak in OSInstall.mpkg ? I noticed that it is different than the one Apple ships.

Thanks again.

Great work by @dosdude1 ...Thanks

This is exactly what Im doing and still the forbidden sign, m8...

1. Insert your desired USB drive, open Disk Utility, and format it as Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
2. Open the "macOS Sierra Patcher" tool, and browse for your copy of the macOS Sierra Installer App....*Ensure that the tool successfully verifies the app.
3. Next, select your USB drive in the Target Volume list, and click "Start Operation."
4. When the operation completes, boot your target unsupported Mac off the USB drive you just created.

The installer OSX Base system won't boot for me as it gives me a forbidden sign....is there something that I should do before that Im missing ?, Do I need to Replace the PlatformSupport.plist in /System/Library/CoreServices/

Im really trying here, can u help me?

m8, I have exactly the same problem...the forbidden sign on booting ....I hope Dosdude1 can find a solution...

Yes yes yes. This is great. You will need to prepare a simple step by step website that explains how to allow updates with your clever work arounds. Maybe a wiki. Keep us all updated! :)

@dosdude1
I just updated to sierra public beta from El Capitan, and all works perfectly on my MacBook 5,1! Siri and MAS works too. Thanks a lot for time used to sharing your great work to all of us!

Till now I cant install anything as I cant boot to the OSX Base System at the beginning as it gives me a PROHIBITED SIGN.
I did correctly all the steps from the guide of Dosdude1...Im stuck in stage 4.

Sorry for the formatting of my above post, I was on my phone while watching the GP.

I finally managed to get Sierra to install, it took about four attempts with each attempt getting further. Eventually it installed and I rebooted into the USB and ran the post install patch and rebooted to be met with the forbidden sign.

It seems a few of us have had this problem recently, I'm hoping that @dosdude1 can help us out, I don't know about the others but I'm well out of my depth fixing this.

I've a question. When a new update of Sierra comes out from the store we need to re download the full iso and re patching it or we can do the update from the store without any problem ? thanks in advance and thank you so much for your hard work ;) I've got an iMac early 2008 24"

Did you run post install on your target disk before booting up? It is a required step or else you get the no entry sign. Don't touch your platform plist mine is missing and it boots up in Sierra PB fine...

I've just option booted with my USB installer inserted and have two drives showing - "Macintosh HD" which is my hard drive and "OS X Base System" which is my USB installer. When I run the post install patch there is no option for me to select "Macintosh HD", only the USB installer.

I did run post install and I'm still getting the sign.

Yep, I can reproduce this on MacBook 5,1 with PB1 and latest tools... First reboot from USB Stick (pressing alt while booting), selecting the usb stick will result in "forbidden" sign (before the macOS installer will show up)

Did you have the option of selecting the hard disk? I only had the usb installer in the drop down.

m8...I cant boot to the installer drive at all, Im at the beginning trying to boot after patching macOS sierra...
I verified with Drive genius if something was wrong with the external drive where I patched it and everything was ok!....I can boot all my external drives but not the patched one!

Many Tanks Dosdude1, only with youi patcher v. 2,5, my macbook alluminium late 2008 with macOS Sierra.

Sure, there's my actual ElCapitan and the USB Installer... When booting the USB installer I'll receive directly the forbidden sign with PB1, unlike first DP1 where it worked.

So I'm unable to jump in the installer, install sierra, reboot again from usb to run post-install... Sounds like the same issue like @MrCrispyBacon.

Im gonna try it again...when I boot it gives me the prohibited sign and then screen goes dark...shall I wait to see if a miracle happens, lol?

welcome to the club, m8!
we need serious help! :)

@dosdude1 When I run the post install patcher, only the usb installer shows up in the drop down list, not the disk I installed Sierra to. Do you have any tips as to what I can do?

Thanks
