Yes there is, and one of the first updates to PB1 is a RECOVERY UPDATE. This method of installing macOS Sierra on unsupported machines just does not address patching the recovery partition.
I looked after this update on my unsupported machine hoping it fixed the lack of recovery partition and it does not. I'm prepared to work around this but wish there were a fix. My supported machine has no recovery partition either due to the way I did my DIY Fusion but that is off topic for this tread. Point being, you're right and I too have this issue.

Yeah, I'll add that at some point, once I figure out how to modify it.

Seems to be found some problems on MacBookPro4,1. Auto backlight with ALS not working but iStat can read sensor data fine. Unable to turn on keyboard backlight (maybe due to ALS problem) but with LabTick, the keyboard backlight can be changeable. Backlight and ALS worked fine on DP1. I lost my DP1 installer (don't see it in MAS). Anyone can send me all of the kexts from DP1?

This is really weird... It seems to be working just fine for everyone except a few people... I don't get it. It works fine for me on every machine I tested.
Your patcher has worked like a champ for me many times except when I (inadvertently) ran it on Sierra dp1 itself (see previous post) Could it be os related with some folks? I constantly run it under a stable El Cap. Dunno may be a clue...

Well, it's Internet based and only 700 MB. While changing the usual files will allow you to boot into it for Find my Mac and access to the disk utility and base apps, many of the system files (possibly Kexts included) are downloaded in order to reinstall the OS.
You might have to make a new recovery partition using the full installer.

First many thanks to dosdude1 for providing his help and work!

I installed Sierra on my MacMini 3,1 (Late 2009) this afternoon. Works nice. My Apple bluetooth mouse 1 works.
WIFI I dont need. The overall procedure was easy. Only the download of the public beta.app was a special experience.

Thanks again, good luck all, and hopeful that the final will work same as good as this PB

What I did with DP1 was to manually copy my files from the recovery partition while I was on El Capitan and then copy them back over after I was on Sierra and found that the recovery partition would not boot....and it worked and is working. I wouldn't attempt an internet recovery with it (something I never use), but for Disk Utility, Terminal and Time Machine it works great.

Dosdude or anyone who knows: before you attempt the upgrade to the Sierra PB, should System Integrity Protection be enabled or disabled or does it matter? I would assume enabled...

If you are willing to "start fresh", copying all of the files from an El Capitan-made recovery partition should work.

The only bad part with starting fresh for me is the length of time it takes iCloud Photos to sync with the cloud. Other than that everything I have is either on a server somewhere or tied to iCloud. I'll keep a watch on this thread as time passes.

Wondering now what my next update will look like. I stayed with the developer beta rather than move over to public beta. Hope my next update is the same as this one where I move my drive over to my supported machine and update.

for my case, can I use yr way to make my MacBook pro boot again?

Maybe. When I tried to use the patch, I got stuck at prohibited sign too. Copy manually "PlatformSupport.plist" to System/Library/CoreServices and "prelinkedkernel" to System/Library/PrelinkedKernels (these files are inside the patcher app) and force a rebuild cache on terminal (sudo touch /Volumes/Name) works for me.

Hi, my english is bad but I try explain the situation, I can't install sierra in my iMac Early 2009 (2,66Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, upgrade to 8gb of RAM)

With a 8GB USB formated in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and following the "dosdude1" MacOs Sierra Patch Tool instructions, when process is "Complete" and I try boot the iMac from the USB I get a symbol that looks like a "Prohibition circle" and not pass of it. What I have to do?

Help me please!

Just released a new update to the patch tool, this should hopefully solve a lot of issues people have been having recently. Version 2.6. http://dosdude1.com/sierra/macOS Sierra Patcher.zip

Have you any changelog? It's seems to be nothings changed. Patches that required to run the installer is the same as before (InstallableMachines.plist, PlatformSupport.plist, OSInstall.mpkg, prelinkedkernel) and patches that required by the running system also seems to be same as before (PlatformSupport.plist, LegacyUSBInjector.kext)

Has anyone got an unsupported mac to unlock with the Apple Watch?

I have a late 2012 13" MBP that has all the required hardware (Bluetooth LE, Continuity and Handoff etc) but the option isn't available.

I have your same imac and i didn't have any problem with the patch. Try to download again the new patch and to change both the usb drive and the imac usb port where you connect the usb drive

Ok, I have installed Sierra on my MBP 5,5 using my Retina iMac and run the @parrotgeek1 script and copied the .plist across. The MBP boots into Sierra fine but the keyboard and trackpad are unresponsive. I fell like I am so close, can anyone help me out? Thanks.

You need the legacyusb.kext (mentoined on the first post). Copy this kext to /Library/Extension chown to root:wheel, and remove all files from the /System/Library/PrelinkedKernels.

It seems a third reboot has sorted it. Thanks to @dosdude1 and @parrotgeek1 for their hard work despite the constant stream of questions on here, I along with many others, are extremely grateful to you.

I haven't made a change log, but what I've done in this version is slightly changed how the main patching script is run, as well as improving the reliability of the patching process. Before, people were having an issue where the patching process would fail, rendering their created drive unbootable on their unsupported Mac. This version should resolve that issue.

what kind of issues ?? quote some ..
People creating the drive, but getting the prohibited sign at boot.

@dosdude1 have you looked at that post about ALS / keyboard backlight issues?

MacBookPro4,1 is affected, but worked fine on beta1. Maybe replacement of some kexts or plist solve this problem. Now i installed multiple partitions with Sierra, now i have one with beta 1, one with beta 2, and my mac currently uncompressing the beta1-beta2 patch pkg.

I tried the patch with my iMac 8,1 and it worked flawlessly!

How I'll have to update to public beta 2, I don't have a clue, but I'll guess I will find the solution here.

Many thanks!

Dave

I ran a textual diff on all files on Extensions folder. Seems to be the failed ALS/keyboard problem not came from a changed plist. I need to check what change when i replace some kexts.
