Update on my progress
.......How did you get Sierra on a MacBook 4,1? And surely if we can work out the bugs in Sierra quickly, we can make a suitable X3100 kext. I remember Mavericks on my MacBook 4,1. God if I hadn't needed to upgrade I wouldn't have. But no seriously how'd you get past SIP?
I still haven't gotten past SIP however my X3100 Kexts are now responding fully on both El Capitan and Sierra (without OpenGL support) like they did with Mavericks and Yosemite.
GMA 950 kexts, however according to a user in the El Capitan Thread, show the 'system is not compatible and the kexts are not recognized' but I don't have a testing model to see what's happening. He did manage to get my old beta USB Kexts and a couple others to detect the chipset and get the keyboard and mouse working.
I meet someone who might have a solution for this as well
Code:
Can't load kext com.apple.driver.AppleIntelGMA950 - requests to user space are disabled.
Couldn't alloc class "Intel915"
Can't load kext com.apple.driver.AppleHDAController - requests to user space are disabled.
Couldn't alloc class "AppleHDAController"
...

So 'quickly' is a strong word right now... I get back to 30 days from now

I don't own a MacBook 4,1 anymore so I don't even have a leg in this fight. I'm honestly just tired of my YouTube comments being "I tried this on my 4,1 and get a slashy thingy. You said this would work. Help?" I even put the requirements in the description. No dice.

I have a Macbook4.1 is there anything I can do to help?

If you can't get your macOS Sierra recovery partition to work, despite having 10.12 installed, you CAN get an older recovery partition working side-by-side with Sierra as follows:

How to run macOS Sierra with El Capitan recovery partition.

1. Download the Lion Recovery Update from https://support.apple.com/kb/dl1464?locale=en_US . (And before you ask, YES. I mean LION recovery update!) Make sure it is in your downloads folder. If you still happen to have the el capitan 10.11.5 full installer somewhere, right click on the Install OS X El Capitan.app file and click Show Package Contents. Go to Contents/SharedSupport/. Copy the InstallESD.dmg file into your Downloads folder. If you don't still have the el capitan 10.11.5 full installer, you can get it from the mac app store.

2. Download and decompress the file recovery.sh.zip from http://4unitmaths.com/recovery.sh.zip and move recovery.sh into your Downloads folder if it's not there already.

3. Open Terminal and type the following commands:

chmod +x ~/Downloads/recovery.sh

sudo ~/Downloads/recovery.sh

@dosdude1 bro i cant enable 3-finger drag .. is it there? please sort it ..

In order to enable 3-finger drag you must to go to Accessibility -> Mouse and Trackpad -> Trackpad Options -> Enable Dragging -> Three finger drag... Hope it helps, m8!
[doublepost=1468391815][/doublepost]@dosdude1, m8....I have successfully Sierra on my late macbook 5.1 late 2008...

I installed and patched Sierra upgrading it on my El Capitan backup, run it checking out and cleaning old stuff, uninstalling apps that I won't use often, etc...no issues at all, the system runs flawless, Siri and updates working...so I decided to copy it from my backup to the macbook....all runs smoothly and fresh as a lemon!

Concerning the Sierra patching issues, I had to buy a usb flash...it worked

Brilliant job! and thanks a lot for taking the time helping me!

Hi Guys, I have a early 2009 Mac Mini running El Capitan okay, would I be able to install Sierra with a patch or something similar on it?

Many Thanks

That requires handoff, which isn't supported even in El Capitan on these older machines.

My machine supports Bluetooth LE (this is the main requirement) continuity AND Handoff as mentioned in my first post. See screenshot below. This is why I can't understand what is stopping it.

Oh, you have a supported machine. Yeah, I'm not sure why it wouldn't work, it's probably just some glitch with Sierra in its current state.

hello, thanks dosdude1 for your work. Can I upgrade the system (El Capitan) to Sierra without erase the hard drive?

Yeah, just install without erasing in Disk Utility.
thank you. so, I have to patch "Install macOS Sierra Public Beta.app" with your "macOS Sierra Patcher" then double click or cmd+o on patched installer to start the upgrade and fingers crossed :D

Unlock with Apple Watch requires a Mac 2013 or newer.

I'm aware of that. My question is I'm wondering what is stopping it and had any one gotten it to work on a 2012 Mac with the required hardware like mine.

Guessing, but since this requires two factor, Apple is aware of the machine and age you're unlocking and so blocks the feature from authorizing. They set the limit, excluding machines that could in theory work. Just like running (or not) Sierra on the older hardware.

I'm not so sure it's that as I don't even have the option to enable it in the security settings.

They must be somehow limiting the machine due to age regardless as you say. I wonder if it's the firmware?

Anyone been able to get this to work with the Public Beta 2?
When I attempt the install, I get the following error:

The operation could not be completed. Operation not permitted. Quit the installer to restart your computer and try again.

Any advice would be appreciated.
k.

Hello everyone, I confirm also that the patch is working on my early 2009 Mac mini (3,1) nicely, except wi-fi and universal copy paste (due to handoff-->no Bluetooth 4.0).
By the way, can you do updates from the Appstore? I have iTunes 12.5 and macOS Recovery HD Update 1.0 stuck at "0 byte from 656 MB - Calculating..." message whenever I press update. Has anyone faced this problem too? I can install though apps from the Appstore without problem.

those updates worked fine for me and I also had updates for the apple voices too

A thought, not sure if this would work - go into system prefs and then app store, click beta software updates, click it off and then click it back on and see if that helps
