Hello everyone, I confirm also that the patch is working on my early 2009 Mac mini (3,1) nicely, except wi-fi and universal copy paste (due to handoff-->no Bluetooth 4.0).
By the way, can you do updates from the Appstore? I have iTunes 12.5 and macOS Recovery HD Update 1.0 stuck at "0 byte from 656 MB - Calculating..." message whenever I press update. Has anyone faced this problem too? I can install though apps from the Appstore without problem.

Problem already solved:

It is only meant for Sierra.

I have a developer build of 10.11.6 beta and didn't even get the itunes beta for that.

Assuming you did a time machine backup before installing the itunes beta into 10.11.5, I suggest you downgrade your itunes now via system restore.

Either that or upgrade the system to Sierra.

I installed MacOS BP and everything went perfectly. All functions working 100%. I have not formatted the partition, upgraded over the MacOS DP.

The patch disables SIP, as doing so is necessary for the patched kext(s) to be installed and loaded.
Ok! I suspected as much and it makes sense. Nice to know!

I stumbled on it while reading a crash report for an application I am beta testing. Testing its behavior in a normal sandbox is paramount. So this caught me by surprise. I didn't want to even go near Recovery partition issues, my MAS reports that I have a Recovery HD update waiting. That's one procedure for updating sip status. Should I anticipate any issues running the softwareupdate. Do I need it? I used patcher 2.5.? updating a DP1 partition on my pro 3,1.

I also noticed that you blow away the PlatformSupport.plist. Will this have an impact if I software update ?

Again, thanks for all your hard work. I need to enable sip on my testing platform.

iTunes 12.5 beta worked fine last night - but - I bit the bullet after work today and installed Sierra Public Beta.
I had already updated my Early 2009 MacPro [4.1 flashed to 5.1] 2.66 Quadcore with 24gHz Ram, an OWC 240g SSD and 7 other drives tied to it - some with eSATA card that is still working (!).

I have notice: "To open “Adobe Photoshop CS3.app” you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime."
I have no WiFi logo in the top bar - it says "Wifi - No Hardware installed"

I tested Siri and Siri works when I have it enabled ...
So far everything else seems to be working ...

That Mac Pro probably has the BCM4321 WiFi card. In order to get WiFi working, you'll need to install a compatible card.

If you want to enable SIP, boot into the (patched) Installer drive, open Terminal, and run "csrutil enable". That will re-enable SIP, however it may cause issues while running Sierra on your unsupported machine.

Any tips to know what I am looking for?
Is this something I can swap where my existing WiFi card was, or do I get a PCI-E card instead?

Did you have an index.plist file in your Library/Updates folder?

Yes, I have this in it (with the relevant files in the 031-63042 directory)

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
<plist version="1.0">
<dict>
<key>ProductPaths</key>
<dict>
<key>031-63042</key>
<string>031-63042</string>
</dict>
</dict>

There is another way to update to DP2.

Go to the purchases tab in the mac app store and download and install the thing called macOS Sierra Developer Beta. This assumes you got DP1 from the app store before by redeeming a code from the developer portal.

Doesn't that download a full install of DP2 rather than just an update though? (and yes, I can do it that way through my rMBP with developer access)

Yes. But it is the full installer for DP2 and will update it to build 16A239m instead of 16A239j.

In that case, I think I'll revert to the Public Beta and get off the dev previews... I suspect it might be easier to update the public betas than the developer previews. Time will tell as a lot of us are going to have this issue when there is the first public beta update out!

Ok. will try that..do you ever sleep :) ?

BTW b4 I read your response, out of curiosity I tried booting into the 10.12 Recovery partition. Had already applied Apple's Sierra PB recovery patch and got the no way sign . Would post-installing the Sierra recovery partition achieve the same effect (allow me to boot off it and enable sip) ?

I know that sip state is kept in nvram so that third parties can't (easily) hack it and is only configurable in one of two states OS X installer or OS X recovery environment. So yes, booting from my patched stick should work. Will try that now. If it works, why not add that as an option to your patcher? I think this is pretty important, especially without a proper recovery option.

You can't access the Recovery partition to modify. However, I'm actually working a recovery partition patch, and when it's complete, I'll update the patch tool.

Siri is working for some time then stops suddenly.
macbook 5,1 late 2008 any one got problem or solution?

Finally got time to install a Penryn in my iMac7,1. Installed Sierra and working great, minus the main volume control not controlling the volume (have to go into sysprefs and adjust the "alert" volume slider). Wifi also works as I replaced the older card with a BCM49360CD some time ago for Continuity.
