Worked great again. MBP 5,5I've just updated the Software Update Patch for PB3. As usual, the program should update itself automatically when launched (if connected to the Internet), or you can download a copy from here: http://dosdude1.com/sierra/macOS Sierra Software Update Patch.zip
His 7,1 is the 20" model, my 8,1 is a 24".
That's perfectly normal, as Mavericks and newer are supposed to fill up most of the RAM, even though not much is open. It's the memory pressure you've got to look at.
Can someone on PB3 test something for me? Basically I'm camping out on PB1 since HLS (m3u8) live streams became unusable on PB2/DB3.
Basically all I need is for someone to go onto Safari and try to open this link:
And let me know if the video plays or not.
If anyone was having an issue with the Software Update Patch, I wrote up a guide which should help. http://dosdude1.com/sierraswupatch/

I reinstalled the PB1 using English as primary, then the patch works for PB3 But not support for PB2 anymore. However, i use the patch updated to PB3 without any problem. So may be before it's just the language settings problem. waiting for the new update patch for all languages.Click the "Refresh Updates" button, and try patching the update again.
I think "16A270f is DB4"I'm on PB3 and the video plays very nicely in Safari -
beautifully clear with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285 1024 MB graphics card...!
Ok, yeah, that's what you would've needed to type in to the language box. I'll release an update later today that will no longer require that.Hi there, im Portuguese from Portugal and I tried your update patch several times and it didn't work. I followed your guide.
On the language field I wrote " Português " , that's what's on the language settings, but I also tried it in English and still no update showed up, I had to do it manually to the " 031-69393.pt_PT.dist " file, removed my macbook model from unsupported machine, put my board id on the supported line, and went on board id index changed it from ==-1 to ==0, after that everything went super
I think it has something to do with the language maybe, it doesn't patch the right file... If you would be so kind to see Im doing something wrong with the update patch?
Thanks and keep up with the awesome work![]()
There may be an incompatibility with the PB3 installer. PM me your email address and I can send you a copy of Public Beta 1.Is there a FAQ/Wiki in this thread somewhere? (did a couple searches, not finding my answer).
MacBookPro4,1 (2008)
PB3 (heh, I think - I downloaded it again and it's slightly smaller than the one I downloaded on the 29th)
Using dosdude1's patching tool. Beta installer was verified by the tool.
Getting "Failed to open macOS Installer" when booting from the USB drive.
Tried 2 different 16GB USB sticks.
Hard drive (256GB SSD) is already formatted/erased.
MacBook only has 4GB of memory (could that be it? Sierra require more than 4GB?)
USB's were properly formatted.
Edit: Looking at the info.plist of the installer, build appears to be 16A269e, short version 12.0.32, bundle is 1232.
If there's some troubleshooting info that someone could point me at?![]()
Ok, thanks. Sent you a PM - though I'm pretty sure the other installer I downloaded should be PB2 - thinking I could try that one, then use your software update patch to get to PB3?There may be an incompatibility with the PB3 installer. Not according to the App Store ...I think "16A270f is DB4"
There was another thread which stated that they both have the same build number (16A270f)Not according to the App Store ...
According to it, I installed Sierra PB3 last night

You know you should just iterate through every file in that folder that begins with 031whatever instead of using the languageTry patching the PB2 update and installing that first, as that may be necessary. Also, ensure your System Language has been specified correctly. (Detection will be added in a later release, but for now just specify it.) If you recently changed your language, try entering the language you had set previously.
Have you tried applehdadisabler and voodoohda? It could be, then. I had at one point investigated the possibility of getting a 24" 8,1 board for my machine in order to use a 1066mhz bus CPU, and the boards appear physically identical. Might be that the only difference is the firmware. So I would posit that the volume issue on each of our iMacs is exactly the same thing. But at this rate I do wonder if something is different about the audio controller on the 20", since the master volume works for your friend's machine.
I just did that, actually. Just updated the tool a few moments ago, which removes the need to enter the system language manually. For anyone who wants to download, the page is here: http://dosdude1.com/sierraswupatch/ . If you already have a copy, it should automatically update itself to the latest version. You know you should just iterate through every file in that folder that begins with 031whatever instead of using the language

If you used the latest version of my patch tool to create your installer USB drive, there's a patch for the Recovery Partition in the Post Install tool. And you don't have to use the Recovery partition to disable SIP, you can simply run "csrutil disable" in Terminal within the macOS Installer drive. My patch tool does this automatically when it's ran, as SIP must be disabled for the modified kexts to be loaded.Hmm. I'm unable to use the recovery option (get the do not enter type symbol on boot if I try to).
Guessing the "Recovery HD 1.0 update" was required for this? (the update disappeared after I downloaded PB3 - got a message that "this update is no longer available in the app store".
How can I fix that? (want to boot into recovery mode, so I can disable SIP, to try to get my wifi driver working).
Edit2: Grabbed the update - no change - recovery option doesn't work. Anyone have a link how to fix?
