I wasn't aware of that earlier kext possibly working. I hadn't had Sierra on here until PB1. I'll give it a shot, thanks for the tip!

Edit: So the DP1 kext had the same unresolved symbol issue as the ElCap kext. I found out that said symbol should be in IOAudioFamily.kext. I put the DP1 IOAudioFamily.kext in place as well, no errors this time, but still no master control. Put the ElCap AppleHDA and IOAudioFamily in place and boom, working master audio control. Put the ElCap AppleHDA and DP1 IOAudioFamily in place, and also working master control. So Apple made some changes to IOAudioFamily in DP2/PB1. I imagine that any other audio kexts that rely on IOAudioFamily would also need to be replaced if one intends to use them (USB audio probably). Can't imagine that would be an issue for too many people though.

Have you tried this combination

DP1 IOAudioFamily
DP4 AppleHDA
ElCap [Or DP1?] AppleHDAController

?

The script (which is meant for USB installers) replaces /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/OSInstaller.framework with an earlier version (from DP1) that unsets setMinimumRequiredTrustLevel: PKTrustLevelAppleDistributedDevelopment to allow modified/unsigned packages.
Thanks, this will be added to the next release of my patch tool.

@dosdude1 I tried so many times, but update patch won't work for me. It shows me patching successful, but no available updates when open Mac App Store.
I'm stuck on public beta 1. Any suggestion?

I don't have any access to the public Beta. It tells me that me this: "This version of macOS 10.12 cannot be installed on this computer."

Mid '09 MBP.

I'm on a MBP 5,4. Has anyone had wifi break for them after upgrading to PB3?

This was working fine up to PB2 but now I get a "Can't connect to internet" error.

EDIT: It looks like DHCP is now unable to pick up IP addresses. I got things working by manually setting the IP address/DNS etc.

@dosdude1 I have a problem with the macOS Sierra Patcher Tool for Unsupported Macs:
I've got a MacBook Pro 5,5 and want to upgrade to sierra and the process of creating a patched usb-stick went perfectly fine, but after booting into the installer i get the following message:
FullSizeRender.jpg
Sorry for the German... ...which basically means, that the path to '/System/Installation/Packages/OSInstall.mpkg/' either doesn't exist or is damaged.

By the way I'm using the newest version of the patcher tool and the sierra installer is freshly downloaded from the App Store. I of course tried to reboot, reformat and recreate the stick, with no changes.

Could you please help?

THX

The tool currently only works with the Public Beta 1 installer. I'm working on adding support for the later PB installers.

Just resolved the issue with a new release: http://dosdude1.com/sierra/macOS Sierra Patcher.zip
I just tried the latest, as i was having problems ending up with an empty "Untitled" partition after the patch program ran, on my USB drive. But this latest release also has this issue. Im using the public 1 version macOS_10.12_16A238m with the patch tool. 1 partition on the usb disk with the settings you provided. Maybe my macOS file is corrupt?

That could be the case. Maybe try re-downloading a copy?

The kexts will load in this configuration, however the hardware isn't recognized. The only thing that still works 100% is if I use AppleHDA/AppleHDAController as ElCap and the ElCap or DP1 IOAudioFamily. Best I have found so far. Hopefully the ElCap kexts don't break under a future Sierra release.

You'll need to find another Mac that can get the installer, or use an EFI shim to fake your SMBIOS.

"Early 2008" Xserve 2,1 works (it's equivalent to/same processors as a 2008 Mac Pro) if the table in the first post can be updated :) I just installed it in VMware then cloned the disk to the Xserve and added the "board ID" to PlatformSupport.plist, which also works for the previous unsupported versions.

Graphics are of course un-accelerated like all 10.8 and later versions, Apple engineers of course didn't have time to write a few 64-bit graphics drivers as well as design all those watch bands...

Thats not true. ATI/AMD Radeon X1xxx family cards had a working 64bit driver in Snow Leopard and Lion, and this cards works perfectly fine on 10.8 with accelerated graphics and 64bit kernel. Starting from 10.9, Apple depends OpenGL 3.0 and generic shaders to accelerate graphics thats why former kexts/opencl and opengl frameworks not works with Mavericks and later.

Hi guys and thank you for all your hard work. I was able to install Sierra Public Beta 1 on my Macbook (Mid2009). Everything is working just fine. Still have to try to install updates. I'll let you know if that worked too.

Does anyone have a copy of the installer files? I don't have a supported Mac to download the installer on unfortunately. Trying to get my mid-2009 MBP on Sierra.

Thanks

Someone please upload dist and dist patch for the Dev Preview 5 update, so it can be added to my tool.
