Is anyone aware of what will happen when subsequent updates come out?

So, if I use the patcher, and then 10.12.1 comes out, will software update through the App Store just work normally?
Possibly, but if not I'll just update the software update patch tool.

This is a good question for dosdude1 . . . but I bet he will say that if you are on a supported Mac, you can use the App Store directly; and if you are on an unsupported Mac, you will have to continue using his macOS Sierra Software Update Patch tool for as long as you continue to use that unsupported machine.

If anything about how the betas worked is the same here, the new updates will still have checks in the distribution file for VMM (which by default excludes most CPUs used in unsupported macs) alongside specific model checks, which means the updates won't display in the App Store.

Those issues have already been circumvented using local patching or custom servers.

That's correct, in theory the patching process will be the same for the 10.12.x updates, and if so, I'll be keeping the Software Update Patch tool up to date.

Ok, thanks guys, I tested the patcher a while back on one of the beta's (MacBook Pro 5,3 - mid 2009) external usb, and everything worked perfectly, I was just reluctant about upgrading since I didn't know if the tool would be continually updated, etc.

And if I understand correctly, you don't need to download a new disk image every time an update comes out, correct?

Once the final release comes out, no.

Once the final release comes out, no.
Is anyone planning on updating the wiki or at least post #1 when the final release lands? May eliminate some of the noise from newcomers who, in all fairness, may find it challenging to navigate the 2K+ posts on this thread.

To date, I count no less than four methods of supporting our old systems:

@dosdude1
@foxlet
@parrotgeek1
@TMRJIJ

Plus , for the unlucky few, some characteristic failure patterns:

Sierra loads with some unsupported hardware (kext incompatibilities)
Sierra loads with some kextcache corruption (maybe pre existing condition)
Patched boot disk fails to load
Patched USB boot is slow and users are impatient
General user failure (rtfm, need better docs , faq etc...)
Sierra will never work cause system is way too old.

Installed in MB 5,2 mid 2009. Everything works fine, except for the trackpad, the button works and I can move the pointer just fine, but the clicking on the trackpad itself does not work anymore. The preference panel only shows a option for a bluetooth trackpad. Any way to fix this?

Here's the deal. I have OS Sierra pb7 n I need the Win1064 bootcamp files and I also need a recovery for macOS to fix whatever is causing my I/O device failures. Windows does fine, but once mac boots up it won't use the track pad, keyboard, USB or BT, Everything else is fine. It randomally quit working though after going from Win to Mac. So if anyone knows what the issue is that'd be great. But I wiped the Recovery partition on accident and now only have the Win n macOS partitions

Re-run the Post Install patch. If that doesn't work, try it again, and select "Force Cache Rebuild" before rebooting.
I'm having similar issues. Except I've been on PB7 for a while. I have the two tools but no sierra install. I need to make a bootable version of your post install it seems. Also I have no recovery partition. I need to remake that. Please help. I am not a fan of being stuck on Windows

Use a different install of OS X to re-create a patched USB drive, boot of that, and just re-install. That'll be the easiest solution.

forgive me if i wont read these 93 pages so sorry if that question was already asked . its impossible to use drivers from El Capitan to bcm4321 ?

No, it's not possible. You need to upgrade that WiFi card to a newer one.
i have imac 8.1 its hard do things in it. i already was changing hd not while ago and it was hell so just trying to avoid it and i live in small town so no any apple services near. i would have to drive like 50 kilometers. i think i will just buy router

btw what wifi card i can use for this model ?

So, you're not comfortable taking it apart then? (might want to review this: https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/iMac+Intel+20-Inch+EMC+2133+and+2210+AirPort+Extreme+Replacement/996)
Yes, I saw that you've already replaced the HD - a few different steps in that tutorial.

If you do decide to replace the internal airport card, you could go the route I did with my MBP and get an mCard from QuickerTek ($79 US) - and get 802.11AC as well as BLE 4.x.

If you buy a router and hardwire your iMac, some wifi-only services (such as airdrop, airplay and the unlocking with apple watch feature) will be unavailable.
You can likely find USB wifi adapters - but the system knows that they're USB devices, so some things as "find my mac" and unlocking with apple watch will not be available.

If you DO go with the mCard, you'll need to either patch your system manually or use CAT to get all of the continuity bits working (as our systems are blacklisted by Apple for the feature).

Do you have an idea of what other wifi Bluetooth card can be installed in the
Mac mini 3.1 late in 2009 so WiFi is working again with Sierra?
Thanks for tips

I tried to update my Mac Pro 3.1 with dosdude1 patch but it fail. I made an installer in a USB hard drive (with the last installer and the GM) but when I want to boot from it, my computer start and then shut down. Somebody know where the problem is ?

Try a different USB device, I had to try a second identical USB stick for mine to work, or it had the same symptoms.

The windows way of doing this?
That's not going to be a good option, I have your GM copy. But i only have Win. So if you could either tell me a way to make it bootable so I can upgrade my current system which would probably fix it and then I could post put a recovery on it

It can't be done with Windows, you need another machine running OS X.

Dosdude1 - with regard to the sound issue - on both iMac 8,1 is there anything I can try to sort it out as its unusable whenever anything sound related is needed thanks
