I used the beta utility then when I saw your message that beta 5 was out I checked the software update :)

So the beta utility enrolled you and system software update kicked in automatically, installed and restarted. At that point , you didn't recreate a patcher stick. So a true update (even though you post-installed with b12) right?

In my mid-2011 27" iMac, I've just change the GC (faulty 6970M 2GB repaired at least 2 times) to a Nvidia GeForce GTX 765M. I've also changed the Airport Card to avoid issues with Mojave and enable missing functionalities such as Continuity, Airdrop... It cost me 110€ for the Nvidia card and 40€ for the Airport+adapter.
Some mods on the dissipator has to be done to make the new GC fit and it's quite plug and play for the Airport card.

I've installed yesterday the b4 on a USB disk just for testing and used the Mojave patcher with my iMac version. I've just unticked the Graphic and Wifi patch.
It works like a charm :)

I used the SWUSwitcher utility downloaded from the software update in system preferences then rebooted got stuck at the 2 min mark left to install then I rebooted tried it got to the second phase of then then near the completion it rebooted so I used my b12 patcher then did the post install then applied the updates from the patch updater then checked my iSight camera wasn't working loaded the patch updater and applied the iSight patch :)

Thanks for confirming. My b4 to b5 seed system software update isn't working as expected. Something weird. From b3 to b4 system update kicked in automatically, popped up a few dialogs, restarted and (of course) I post-installed for the requisite fixes. (relatively) smooth. I was kind of hoping it would follow the same route. I shouldn't need the beta utility at all. In fact, when installed on Mojave, all beta utility does is download the full installer which (of course) doesn't recognize my system as legit unless I create a new patcher stick with it. Strange.

The password box just doesn’t show up. Can you try to fix this?

Don't know if this helps... From Apple's release notes.

Apple File System (APFS) Known Issues • After enabling or disabling FileVault, the volume will become invisible to pre-macOS Mojave systems until the encryption or decryption process completes.

Thank you for trying but i don’t think it does.

There is a software update patch in the post install that allows us to download the update like we did when all updates were in the App Store I used the SWU Switcher utility to enroll my iMac 9,1 in the developers seed and my iMac 8,1 is on the beta seed so when you posted that beta 5 was out I went and checked the software update at first it said no update was available then exited when I looked there was a 1 on my system preference on my dock checked then installed the beta 5 update

I had the issue when I accidentally encrypted my hdd on APFS bur my password box appeared when I was on beta every time I entered my password it said it was not the right one

I’m in the patched installer in disk utility but the box doesn’t even show up.

are you still using High Sierra or Mojave beta 4 and which patcher are you using if you are using Mohave patcher maybe try the High Sierra patcher

I’m running High Sierra officially and I’m trying to use the Mojave patcher to upgrade my MacBook to Mojave but I’m not able to unlock and mont my APFS encrypted SSD in the patched installer. My model is MacBook7,1

@dosdude1 Perhaps that info can help.

APFS does work fine on my hdd unencrypted but I did remember reading depending on how much data is on your ssd or hdd it can take up to a day to encrypt or decrypt when using FileVault

Thanks. I have the Faker dylib installed so softwareupdated should bypass all model and system checks. Also tried the SWU switcher app, but no go. It effectively just does the same thing as sudo .../.../seedutil enroll DeveloperSeed at the command line (also touches a SeedEnrollment.plist in your shared directory) Still a mystery. Now wondering if I need to clean up some internal caches or something. Definitely pretty finicky.

So, I enrolled my MacBook pro to developer beta and received the update request. I applied. When it finishes it appears mojave installer like I wanted to clean install. Of course it doesn't let me.doing it caus it is an unsupported device. What's wrong? No I am making a new USB with mojave patcher and download MacOS Mojave from there. But I don't want to make clean install every time an update appears. What should I do? It isn't supposed to update the system if we select the update patch?!

when the update finishes downloading a popup should appear that says restart to install or later hit restart and it should install the beta 5 update then reboot into your macOS Mojave patcher and do the post install patches

That was what I expected... But no... it appeared the mojave installer only.. strange.

if you can't decrypt your ssd in High Sierra under security and privacy then reboot using your High Sierra patcher and see if you can decrypt in disk utility from the high Sierra patcher I don't think you can upgrade while your ssd is encrypted

If you think that is slow, try erasing the disk using the Gutmann algorithm. 35 passes, mate. :) It doesn't take a day, but several days on 500 GB SSD.

That's why I ran FileVault when my hard drive was relatively empty.
