Anyone else having issues with Mojave update from App Store or Software Update? I usually don't have a problem updating from one or the other. I tried with Patch and got this version of Mojave Beta; 14.0.17 dated 7/10/18 6.01GB.
Current version is 1BA353d

Patch is 1.12

Try editing manually with "plist editor" (text editor is inapt for this scope)

or maybe try this adjusted script from your Mojave Terminal:

defaults write ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.AppStore/Data/Library/Preferences/com.apple.appstore.plist AutoPlayVideoSetting -string "off"

defaults write ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.AppStore/Data/Library/Preferences/com.apple.appstore.plist UserSetAutoPlayVideoSetting -bool true

edit:
I guarantee that giving both those scripts from your Mojave's Terminal, after a reboot New App Store won't crash more, unless you playback a video from there.

Thanks again to ASentientBot for discovered that tricky real path plist responsible file.

I'm working on a GitHub project to script all system preferences:

https://github.com/tiiiecherle/osx_install_config

I`m not done yet but I just pushed the current state of the mojave work. I will push further changes the next days.

I was stuck with this, too, and you brought me on the right track, thanks.

As far as my testing went I needed to do both settings and reboot for it to work
defaults write com.apple.appstore.plist AutoPlayVideoSetting -string "off"
defaults write ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.AppStore/Data/Library/Preferences/com.apple.appstore.plist AutoPlayVideoSetting -string "off"

It is included in
https://github.com/tiiiecherle/osx_...app_preferences/11c_osx_preferences_mojave.sh
but as said I'm not done with the scripts for mojave yet. Hope this helps.

if you look under the software gear it says you are enrolled is the apple beta software program which is public beta if you were enrolled in developers it would say enrolled in the developers beta program
Strange as I can login to Developer site and registered as a Developer. Perhaps I need to reregister. Argg!
or just wait for Public beta

Provided that there are many workaround to this, there are three main requirements that should be met to gain access to a Developer Preview:

1) A Developer account with annual fee subscription 99 usd
2) A supported Mac
3) Developer Beta Access Utility dmg

Anyway I guess Public Beta is tomorrow, so I consider it a safer way.
Just enroll in Public Beta with your Apple ID, no need to re-register.

The first one can be easily circumvented.

Update worked via System Preferences | Software Update for DP7.

This is the first time I was able to do an "in-place" update on my mojave unsupported MBAir4,2.

Just letting you know I used macOSBetaAccessUtility Package for this to work.

*EDIT* Correction on the package name used: macOSDeveloperBetaAccessUtility.

Is it correct to assume that Developer Preview and Public Beta releases are now being pushed at the same time? I ask since usually DP comes before PB is released.

Didn't renew $$$, my bad. Forgot Apple sent email for $$$

Once they were more flexible, for ex. with iOS Xcode sideloading apps they reduced the certificate expiration time in the free dev account provisioning profiles from the previous 90 days to 7 days.
Anyway we are close to GM, if anything use a Public Beta for this year.
Totally forgot that Apple sent me an email to renew Dev Account a couple of weeks ago and I put it Apple Mailbox, just slipped my mind to review it. On the fence on whether to dole out 100 buck.....AGAIN & AGAIN

When I beta tested Kodiak -OSX, Apple was pretty begging us to beta it's software, how times change. There was never any mention for $29.95 for beta. At least for me. Possibly because it turned your Mac into a kp machine.
