I followed the explanations of DaniloGeekDude (Thanks ;))

  1. System Preferences | Software Update, then click on "update now".
  2. It will reboot and then show "installing software update ...xx minutes remaining)
  3. When finishing step 2, it will again reboot. Now the next step (4) is important.
  4. Option-Key and boot to "Mojave Patcher" 1.2.3 thumb drive.
  5. run MacOS Post Install. Check on "Force Rebuild Cache" and then reboot.
  6. It will boot with the message "Finishing Update" on black screen.
  7. Then you are done!
Fast update without issue :apple:

Followed the above steps and it worked perfect on my 3.1 booting w/native APFS support.

MacBook Pro 6,2:

Update to 10.14.2 using OTA worked.
However, after updating the Mac directly booted up correctly and reapplying patches was not needed…
BUT, no sound.
So I booted my patcher stick and reapplied all patches and forced cache rebuild.
Now sound is working ;)

Hi,
is hybrid v1.3 still the thing for 10.14.2 or should we wait for an update?
Thanks! :)

MacBook7,1

System Preferences was acting a bit odd, so I installed 10.14.2 with `softwareupdate -i -a`. After the reboot it went into a bootloop. So I booted into my Mojave Patcher'ed 10.14.1 USB stick and re-applied the patches.

Seem to work.

I note that Patch Updater under 10.14.2 does not have any items under the list of all installed patches.

For me it seems ok:

Tried this before (just in another way extracting), modified the Distribution file and removed my ModelID from Blacklist (MacBook5,1). Didn't work either :(
Will give it antoher try this evening, else creating a new usb installer image (would take more time).
Don't forget your boardID. And thanks for reminding me of the blacklist.

I have a MacBookPro6,2 (mid-2010) running High Sierra 10.13.6. Upgraded myself to SSD a couple of years ago, and 8GB RAM.
Created the USB stick yesterday with latest Patcher 1.2.3 that downloaded Mojave install pack; I assume it's 10.14.2
Booting from the USB stick works as it should, but when I reach the stage to start the install, nothing happens. It says 29 minutes left and the progress bar does not move. Waited 5 mins, nothing.
Any clues?

@ivankuraev Ok thanks, will try :)

@tchek Yes „install“ is the wrong word, it’s indeed just replacing the files :D

@LukeWorm I have the identical hardware (besides 2,53Ghz processor), so it’s not your machine. Try to build the usb stick again. My first try also was not successful because of a corrupt installer on the stick...

The steps from @DaniloGeekDude are the same steps I took on my 10,1 iMac and all is fine. it feels much faster than 10.14.1.

Prior to those steps, I downloaded 10.14.2 and used the patcher version 1.2.3 to update my (first wiped) thumb drive just to be sure.

Mojave Patcher still at v1.2.3. Any word on when can we expect v1.2.4. Even if it does not need fixes to support 10.14.2, I think for clarity it should be updated to 1.2.4, so we connect a specific version of the Patcher to a specific version of the OS. This will avoid confusions in future.
And the same goes for Hybrid mode v1.3. It is better to wait for 1.4, than to put old libs and risk problems, which are hard to notice at first.

Yeah, I'll be updating it soon, I expect I should have time to do so later today.

Shutdown, press simultaneously CMD + Option + R + P and Power button.
Thanks - resetting the PRAM cured the booting issue. Sorry for the noise, I had forgotten about that. So no problem at all with the boot eeprom.

I've applied the post install patches, forced cache rebuild, and my MBP5,2 is now successfully upgraded to 10.14.2.

Yes, I am scheduling an update for early next week. Had to take a small break from this project, but will have a little time to update and test for 10.14.2 support this weekend. Stay tuned.

Thanks, did that but got the same result. Install freezes right at the beginning.

Just an FYI. I am now on 10.14.2 Final on my Mojave unsupported MBP5,3. And, I'm also using Hyrbrid 1.3 for CoreUI and HIToolbox and seems to work fine.

@dosdude1,

I went ahead and did a Tools|Download|MacOS Mojave Install from your macOS Mojave Patcher v1.2.3 app.

Checked the version on the downloaded file and verified it downloaded the latest 10.14.2 Final version.

On my successful update from 10.14.2 beta to 10.14.2 final, I used the USB installer that still had the 10.14.1 final version. In other words, I didn't need to update the USB installer.

Thanks again for your awesome patcher apps.

I did the same as well and successfully updated.

Anyone tried installing the 10.14.2 Combo on an HFS+ drive (after modifying the Distribution file as before).
comes up with the error that it is only for SSD drives.
Has anybody managed to overcome that, or experienced the same.

Tried it again, but later when choosing the install drive it complains about missing APFS. So patching the Distribution file only won‘t do it. will make a new installiert Drive when Dosdude updated his tool

Maybe i will make a fresh install with APFS

Yeah that's what I get, says it can't install unless file system is APFS. News to me 10.14.0 and .1 were happy on HFS+.
No one here seems to be addressing this, even Apple has not said that from 10.14.2 Mojave is APFS only, or did I miss something from what is becoming the dark side.

@dosdude1 I am running Mojave 10.14 on an Mac mini 3,1 without any real issues. Honestly, I've lost track now :) Whats is Your currently suggested procedure to update to 10.14.2? Or should I a wait for another few days, will there be an "safer" way to update?

Greetings from Austria
Michael

Hi! After install Mojave I received weird colors on my Mac mini "Core i5" 2.5 (Mid-2011). I am set up all after install options as default for Mac mini 5.2. How can I fix it?
