Did your screen ever show some weird graphics? like a pink or grey pattern?
Yes long time ago. But not after I did the fix from AppleMacFinder (resvoled thread). And after the Mojave Upgrade.
So now it’s just showing the screen dark with some little and tiny „light“ from the back. But I cannot recognize anything at all.

I don’t know the fix you’re referring to but it seems like your MacBook Pro switched back to the broken dedicated gpu and therefore the display stays dark.

I guess the MBP now tries to boot as default from faulty AMD GPU, and won't let you set or reset nvram, I read somewhere that if removed the Resistor R8911: https://www.jeffgeerling.com/blog/2...o-booting-grey-screen-amd-radeon-video-glitch

will boot again and defaultly from IntelHD3000 that is a very resistant GPU to time wear and stressing I'd say.

Even if I still think if you let few days (powered off) in a cold place your MBP, it will boot again and you from CMD+S will be able to set the IGPU HD3000 through that "long string" nvram command, without removing that Resistor.

Hello, I have a problem.
My Macmini 3.1 works on SSD with Capitan (native), HS and Mojave.
On HS and Mojave with graphics patch and the new Broadcom patch.
On HS and Mojave I have problems with AirDrop.
With "defaults write com.apple.NetworkBrowser BrowseAllInterfaces 1" AirDrop becomes visible in the Finder, but only as a symbol without a name.

Finder.png

DPCIManager.png

If I click there, then Finder crashes.
This problem existed even before the Broadcom patch, because "defaults write com.apple.NetworkBrowser BrowseAllInterfaces 1" works with LAN alone.

Second problem, with 10.14.5 DP1 no longer works graphic patch and accel patch. Is there any knowledge here?

I used this Terminal command to enable AirDrop on older mac: "defaults write com.apple.NetworkBrowser BrowseAllInterfaces 1"
but it partially worked, any pre-2008 machine is capable to discover post-2009 machines, but it's not discoverable, I mean I can drop files from a 2008 mac to a 2010 mac, but not the opposite.

About 10.14.5 DP1 seems apple introduced new HIDDisplay privateframework and "fixed" the OpenGL loophole.

Helps a rollback HIDDisplay.framework from 10.14.3 or 10.14.4 ???

It's a new march 2019 framework that @Larsvonhier noticed it first, but I'd not be surprised that could potentially be an old framework renamed or moved.

Just an example, it's not first time they move or change frameworks names, also HiToolBox was in another place before putting inside the Carbon framework.

So now as Easter fun we all shall look where the old (now perhaps renamed) framework came from... ;-)

I guess won't be easy this time, at Cupertino they mean it!
Anyway I will try something and I'm confident on anyone if got an idea to a possible attempt to allow OpenGL again, unless some easter egg by dosdude1.

That is odd as, prior to upgrading my MacPro 3,1 to a MacBook Air 2013 wifi/bluetooth 4.0 card, I was able to discover and move files from a MacBook Pro 14,1 to the MacPro 3,1 via the 'n' wireless network by using the 'Can't find who you are looking for?' hyperlink as described in https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203106. If I recall correctly, you need a simultaneous dual-band wifi router though. Prior to upgrading to a TP Link A7, I couldn't use AirDrop with a second generation Airport Extreme router.

Then I guess you need to try the CoreBrightness non-patched, the stock one, I don't have at the moment, the one I posted was patched too.

My typing mistake this is the path where you need to replace the file:

open /S*/L*/Private*/CoreB*/V*/A/

please re-try first with my previous file.

edit:

if my previous NighShift patched file still doesn't bring you keyboard backlit, then try this one Terminal:
open /S*/L*/Private*/CoreB*/V*/A/
from Finder replace here
jackluke I did a comparison with the 2 corebrightnesses you post to 10.14.4 the core brightness is 10.14.4 is 768kb the first one you posted is 727kb and the untouched one is 718kb wonder what they added to core brightness in 10.14.4

We could compare all 10.14.3 frameworks with this one with a bash script to find any similarities.

Here is my preliminary check about New or major upgraded Frameworks from 10.14.3 to 10.14.5 beta 1 , the pictures attached represent those Frameworks and PrivateFrameworks new or upgraded by apple.

I'd say all the others out of this list haven't been significant upgraded, so I'd focus only on these pictures I've attached.
[doublepost=1553887172][/doublepost]Another quick test on a supported Mojave MacBook Pro, deleted the "new" HIDDisplay.framework, and Macbook still boot fine and work correctly, so I'd say this new Framework doesn't affect the OpenGL or Metal GPU Acceleration.
[doublepost=1553887565][/doublepost]Maybe one of these GPU*.framework as GPUCompiler or GPUInfo together with the ones used by dosdude1's 10.14.4accel patch could be the answer. For now I cannot test further.

Oh I just realised that I said 10.14.3 and 10.14.4. I meant 10.14.4 and 10.14.5

Restore from a Time Machine backup or any other backup / clone you hopefully made before you upgraded to Mojave.
In case you didn't, use Time Machine or CCC to back up your system now.
Then do a clean install and restore your files manually. Migration assistant won't allow you to transfer data from a newer OS. (At least to my knowledge)
Maybe someone else will come up with a better idea, so you might wait a little longer before you start wiping your disk.

Just done few tests on 10.14.5 beta1 to attempt achieve Acceleration with Macbook 7,1 mid 2010 , using verbose mode, here are my observations after applied all the known patches:

- I noticed a kind of "warning" about IOAHCI* kext and apfs.kext but they seems to continue boot fine;
- I noticed many refused *USB* kext from prelinkedkernel but the main ones are working and all internal devices still responsive;
- there aren't any Windowserver crashes, instead apart a "busy timeout" that will pass after 20-30 seconds, Mojave will boot correctly with Framebuffer but w/o OpenGL driver that seems completely ignored by the kernel;
- tried to downgrade OpenGL and OpenCL framework with 10.14.3 and replacing also the GPU*.frameworks, system still boot and work fine but OpenGL is completely ignored again.

@parrotgeek1 I've done a non-clever test from a supported Mojave macbook and deleting this HIDDisplay.framework doesn't affect OpenGL/Metal and nothing else I'd say, system will work properly, maybe that new framework is required for external displays or other stuffs.

please send me the output of (sorry this will take forever to run, yes there is a space before /Library)

sudo fgrep -R HIDDisplay.framework /System /Library
I'm running this now on 10.14.3. That's the version you wanted it to be run on, correct?

Hi Guys,
Today I installed clean Mojave 10.14.4 to the MacBook Pro 5,2. I used Patcher version 1.3 and installation done smoothly. Setup and other things all done. I also install all the recommended patches.
It was working fine until 5-10 mins later. Its randomly shutting down, and warning coming to the screen about push a button or wait for startup! (something like this).
Later I came here to look for solutions. And I saw there is another MacBook Pro 5,2 users they have exact same problem with me. And also i saw some solutions, like 14.4 accel patch, and I apply this solutions but still no luck.
I did some test for why this happening in my computer, I think its maybe about the graphics. Opened iTunes and play my music list and lock the screen, and later screen went sleep. In this station there is no issue. But when I visit some web sites and use MacBook Pro for daily jobs, its restarting always. Sometimes 5 mins later, sometimes 20 mins later. Please help me guys, because Mojave looks fascinating on my MacBook Pro 5,2.

I have this configuration btw;
MacBook Pro 5,2 Mid 2009 17"
Core 2 Duo 3,06 GHZ
8gb 1333 mhz Ddr3
Nvidia Geforce 9400M 256 MB
SSD Drive

And this is my Problem report for OS X;

I think it's not there the key to bring OpenGL back, that HIDDisplay framework is irrelevant, but somewhere else, already tried replacing 10.14.5 privateframeworks with all 10.14.3 GPU*.framework s, system works fine with Framebuffer, brightness control, maybe sleep function too, but no OpenGL bundle loaded, so no transparencies and slower performances overall.

I mean from verbose booting apparently even OpenGL Nvidia features are loaded, but at the loginUI I got the illusory apple logo from cold grey to warm grey transition, but it's only the Framebuffer, no transparencies and so no acceleration showed. I had the impression has been dropped before 10.15 . I hope I'm wrong.

Hi Guys,
Today I installed clean Mojave 10.14.4 to the MacBook Pro 5,2.

I have this configuration btw;
MacBook Pro 5,2 Mid 2009 17"
Core 2 Duo 3,06 GHZ
8gb 1333 mhz Ddr3
Nvidia Geforce 9400M 256 MB
SSD Drive

And this is my Problem report for OS X;

Yes, this is a known issue, and seems to happen only on the MacBookPro5,2. I am currently looking into this.

Hi catching up a bit. Are you saying the OpenGL framework is now absent from 10.14.5 beta? Even though the rumors are strong that 10.15 will drop OpenGL+OpenCL this summer (I'm still on the fence on that one...) it wouldn't make sense for Apple to drop these frameworks now. I only ask cause I haven't downloaded a 10.14.5 beta yet.

I seriously doubt that the OpenGL framework will disappear from 10.15. Rather Apple will likely just block the headers from being used to compile GL programs when targeting the 10.15 deployment.
