Hi catching up a bit. Are you saying the OpenGL framework is now absent from 10.14.5 beta? Even though the rumors are strong that 10.15 will drop OpenGL+OpenCL this summer (I'm still on the fence on that one...) it wouldn't make sense for Apple to drop these frameworks now. I only ask cause I haven't downloaded a 10.14.5 beta yet.

I was inaccurate, OpenGL framework is still there but I meant for our fallback Video Acceleration, please consider that I've also tried to downgrade the SkyLight framework and 10.14.5 beta1 still boot, stage2 apple logo showed that color transition with loading bar, but after a smooth fade out / fade in at login screen only Framebuffer used (I guess OpenCL?) with no transparencies.

I seriously doubt that the OpenGL framework will disappear from 10.15. Rather Apple will likely just block the headers from being used to compile GL programs when targeting the 10.15 deployment.

I find agree, but maybe they could drop OpenGL versus Metal as video rendering and leaving its framework to support some legacy apps that need it. They are just my suppositions however.

Yes, this is a known issue, and seems to happen only on the MacBookPro5,2. I am currently looking into this.

Hi dosdude! Thanks to you and the crew for this great utility. I'm afraid I have some bad news. I'm on a MacBookPro5,1 and I'm getting the kernel panics. I did an in-place upgrade from 10.14.3 to 10.14.4. It started right after the upgrade on Wednesday and is still happening.

I use this Mac to watch videos using VLC version 3.0.4 and I bluetooth the audio to my Amazon Echo Plus speaker. I'm noticing that when I connect the Mac to my Echo Plus speaker and watch videos it the crashes seem to occur. I haven't noticed it crashing when I don't connect to the Echo Plus speaker. One last thing, I noticed an error message from Little Snitch v4.3.1 that it detected a problem. I haven't investigated that yet.

Reporting back on my 10.14.4 experience on my Mac Pro 3,1

Messages (along with a number of other programs I use) no longer functioned.

So I: -
1. Tried the suggested fix for the inability to login to Messages of logging out on all machines, clearing the PRAM, and retrying - no luck
2. Fresh install of 10.14.4 - no luck
3. Reinstall 10.14.3 over my 10.14.4 install - everything is now working again

I'm unsure what to do next, to be honest, but it looks like sticking with 10.14.3 is the only workable option.

I find agree, but maybe they could drop OpenGL versus Metal as video rendering and leaving its framework to support some legacy apps that need it. They are just my suppositions however.
Before I throw my hat in the ring again on these graphics/gpu issues, please confirm the following:
- video acceleration is broken under 10.14.4 unless 10.14.3 GPUSupport and OpenGL frameworks patches are applied
- The current 10.14.5 beta is borked on video/gpu acceleration even after the 10.14.3 GPUSupport and OpenGL frameworks are applied

If simply retrofitting the 10.14.3 GPUSupport and OpenGL frameworks restores gpu acceleration, has anyone cracked open the two frameworks to analyze the differences? Can that add some light here? I don't want to rehash someone else's findings. While building the latest 10.14.4 hybrid patch, key material offsets changed for the first time since early Mojave betas, so I suspect that a lot of code has changed in some key frameworks between 14.3 and 14.4-14.5

I can confirm regarding the video acceleration --- 10.14.4 has it, 10.14.5 does NOT.
I did a shasum comparison on both GPUSupport and OpenGL frameworks down to the lowest level (for example ../Version/A/*.*) and I did not see different shasum values.

Although I do not use them (did on 10.14.3), Thanks for your excellent coreui and hybrid patches.

Yes, this is a known issue, and seems to happen only on the MacBookPro5,2. I am currently looking into this.

Saw the same on my spouse's 15in MBP 5,1. Sporadic kernel panics w/10.14.4. 10.14.3 was fine. Never had a chance to re-clone her backup w/10.14.3, and so the backup disk was still her High Sierra install. Just decided to do a restore, and let her stay on High Sierra unit/if it gets worked out. Since she is back to HFS, how do I remove the APFS support patch that was installed using 10.14.3 "after install" patcher?

In case anybody is wondering...I did a clean install of 10.14.3 on her MBP (from a prior High Sierra install), and then used the transfer settings app to move all her stuff from her High Sierra Backup clone. For 10.14.4, I did OTA update and then booted from the patch USB disk and ran the after install patches. When that kept crashing with kernel panics I did another clean install of 10.14.4, patched, and transfer-settings app again...still sporadic kernel panics... She was a bit impatient, and so we decided just to restore back to High Sierra since she had zero problems with that...

Thanks and thanks for the added info. Your findings point to changes in other 10.14.5 frameworks that affect gpu acceleration.

EDIT: On my MacBook Pro 5.3 , I just jumped from 10.14.2 to 10.14.4 after software update and latest post-install with no problems. Video acceleration (without 10.14.3 retro patches) is working just fine too. So I concur. I'll download the .5 DP to start scanning for other changes between 4 and 5.

I tried installing 10.14.5 but as after I logged in the screen went black and got a spinning circle so went back to 10.14.4 reapplied the the patches got a KP a few times then replace the openGL and GPUSupport framework the dosdude's accel and seems to be stable no crashes on my iMac 9,1

I had troubles to upgrade from 10.14.3 to 10.14.4 via System Preferences on my MacPro 3,1. At the end only solution was a fresh install and time machine restore.
Everything seems to work fine except for OneDrive dropdown window that does not open. OneDrive itself is working. When clicking on the OneDrive icon no window appears anymore.
On my new MacBook Pro there is no issue.
Did you experience something similar?

If I understand correctly, you mean the APFS patch that launches at boot with black screen with text? That can be removed by mounting the hidden EFI partition and deleting the APFS files you find in there.

On my MacPro 3,1 since I upgraded to 10.14.4, Messages and all the other programs are working. I noticed only one glitch : there were during the week three "savage" reboots :the computer stops without any reboot key stroked by me and reboots but after that no problem. I verified my Energy Saver Prefs Panel but no reboot is programmed either.
Strange bug.........

Hello to all. Apple News worked perfectly with 10.14.3 but installed 10.14.4 and after the Apple-side fix it still crashes. I have a 2011 MacBook Pro. Anyone else with this problem? Can I, somehow, reset the app by deleting plist files etc? Please let me know. I have attached the error in the txt file for all to see.

macmini 4,1, prepared a new USB flash drive with @dosdude1 patcher 1.3.0, OTA upgrade to 10.14.4, reboot from the flash drive, ran post-install for this model and rebuilt caches, reboot back to regular disk, everything works as intended.

Works now – great achievement dude! However performance seems to be decreased significantly now. First boot after installation took around 10 minutes (compared to 4 usually), even briefly prompted a crash report, which then closed itself automatically, so no data there – sorry! Oh yeah and Wifi doesn't work.
[doublepost=1553817761][/doublepost]Hey by the way – has anyone ever re-applied thermal paste to their older Macs' CPU, like 2012 and down? Mine (MB5,1) seems to be running unreasonably hot for mostly idling.
I’ve released an update to fix WiFi. You need to reinstall macOS before patching with the new version. I recommend a clean install if possible but it’s not required.

That's why I asked if you could fix the 10.14.3 binaries , since it is stable and trusted build for our unsupported mac, and the GPUSupport and OpenGL frameworks used for 10.14.4accel dosdude1 are directly taken from 10.14.3 but they are not suffice this time to bring OpenGL on 10.14.5 beta 1.
Many users get random KP with 10.14.4 , 10.14.3 binaries offsets for hybrid patch shouldn't have been changed so much from 10.14.2 .

That might be something else...I had similar issues when the old memory DIMMS started to die...Replaced and it is ok.

Exactly what I was going to say. I had a horror show last week after upgrading my MacPro 3,1 to a MacBook Air 2013 ac/bluetooth card because it happened to coincide with a DIMM failing as well as the cache one of the HDs going out. Which actually leads to a question. What is the expected behavior of a MacPro 3,1 with a failed DIMM? In my hands, it seems that the boot can actually be blocked if the failed DIMM isn't in the last bank(s) of failed DIMMs. That is, if the failed DIMMS are in the middle of the DIMMS, it can block booting. Does that sound right?

Hello guys, any one can help me figure out why i'm getting so often and usage uncorrelated kernel panics? I own a mid-2009 MacBookPro 17 inch, that's my report:

please send me the output of (sorry this will take forever to run, yes there is a space before /Library)

Here is the output. Seems useless to me.

[doublepost=1553940021][/doublepost]Can someone give the size of their HIDDisplays.framework from 10.14.5?

Do anyone in this thread experienced a immediately kernel panic in 10.14.5 beta? My MB5,1 boots into the desktop, when I open an application, the MacBook automatically restarted and kernel panic (appears to all apps).
Any ideas to solve this problem?

Well I've done deeply experiments about 10.14.5 beta 1 on Macbook 7,1 mid 2010 and I can affirm that to have a bootable 10.14.5 b1 even with the OpenGL driver prelinked into the kernel (but w/o Acceleration only Framebuffer) these are the requirements:

- Replacing from /S/L/Frameworks/ the OpenGL and OpenCL frameworks with those from 10.14.3 ;
- Replacing from /S/L/PrivateFrameworks/ the GPUSupport.framework (as the dosdude1's accel patch)
- Replacing from /S/L/PrivateFrameworks/ the GPUWrangler.framework with that from 10.14.3 ;

A weird fact is the "GPU Wrangler" should be used for externalGPU (feature for HighSierra or higher), but this updated framework prevents 10.14.5 beta1 booting.

I can assure that replacing only the GPUWrangler.framework any machine can pass the stage2 apple logo, without stucking on "busy timeout (60s)" or "IOconsoleusers lock screen" and with this replaced framework anyone can reach the loginwindow and use Mojave 10.14.5 beta1 with Framebuffer only, not so bad as I expected.

I advise also to use the "OpenCL.framework" from 10.14.3 for a better stability.

Anyway still can't get OpenGL Acceleration and transparencies. That's all for now.

edit:
For those who don't have the required framework (in my humble opinion) to pass always the loginUI from 10.14.5 , I attach it taken from an untouched 10.14.3 .

Even using only this GPUWrangler.framework without applying the dosdude1's 10.14.4accel patch, Mojave 10.14.5 will still boot correctly, but as I stated replacing OpenGL, OpenCL and GPUSupport is almost mandatory for overall stability, for example video web surfing from Safari.

Hello guys, any one can help me figure out why i'm getting so often and usage uncorrelated kernel panics? I own a mid-2009 MacBookPro 17 inch, that's my report:

It's a known problem, and the experts are working on it ;)
I have rolled back to 10.14.3 for stability.

Can anybody check System Information or the receipts plist for the updates on Gatekeeper? It seems that, at least in some situations, Gatekeeper gets corrupted. Alongside the normal updates, some older updates, like form June, get installed first. Gatekeeper is an important security feature. Even if we run Mojave on unsupported Macs or Hackintoshes, we still need it. On my Hackintosh I so this issue. Please check it out. I hope @dosdude1 sees it as well.
