Hi, I've installed O Mojave with the patch and it has been given a Kernel Panic. can anybody help me? The error is this below:

From your system uptime "nanoseconds" should be 156 seconds, so your KP occur after a while of booting.

Try these targeting your Mojave Volume boot holding CMD+S then type:

fsck -fy
(wait a while)

mount -uw /
nvram boot-args=" "
nvram boot-args="-no_compat_check"
chown -R 0:0 /S*/L*/E*
chmod -R 755 /S*/L*/E*
kextcache -i /
reboot

it should work now.

Another (better) source is Apple's own macOS Open source here : https://opensource.apple.com .
They have archives up to 10.14.1 though, but that's my go to source for things like IOKit and IOGraphics code.

I tend to think it's best to always keep matching GPUWrangler and the AGDC bundle of kexts (whether .4 or .5) - way too much dependent code and resources (and reduces complexity).

I will attempt a straight OTA software update from .3 or .4 to .5beta2 applying dude's post-install (legacygpu) out of the box on my mbp 5,3 with dual Nvidia GPUs as a start - and then will see how it goes with acceleration.

BTW, anything happening on the Tesla kext front? Do they even need tweaking? If so why?

Thanks for the insight.
[doublepost=1554939066][/doublepost]
Cool. By the way, I also archive the original frameworks and binaries in their respective folders. So can be used to restore in case one loses a critical backup.

FYI - the Resources folder also holds two files documenting (as best I can) the "secret sauce" behind the 32bit and 64 bit patches of CoreUI. It's in a state of flux right now.

On Tesla kext front I guess the situation was better on .5 beta1 , since after replacing only with .4 those stuffs, Framebuffer worked good, with Brightness HUD control working backlight, NightShift , while on 5 beta2 these things don't respond more.

Anyone else getting lesser Bluetooth performance on Mojave? Under El Capitan with a Bluetooth 4.0 USB dongle it would remember my two different headphones, and I simply had to turn them on to use them. Now with Mojave I have to properly pair them every time.

This is on a Mac Mini 3,1 running 10.14.3 BTW. Not a big deal at all, but I just wanted to see if others had still working but degraded Bluetooth functionality. There are also occasional audio blips on YouTube videos that are not there on my phone.

Mac mini 5,1 was working perfectly on 10.14.3. upgrade to .4 results in grey Apple logo screen that never boots. Progress bar loads at around 60% and that's it.

Was 10.14.3 the end of the line?

Any ideas appreciated.

Thanks, Myles

Used my other mac to re-download the patcher from dosdude - re-installed, now working again on 10.4.4. Worried there for a moment.

Hello Everyone, Ive been following this thread for quite a while and i'd like to thank the devs for their enormous efforts to make Mojave available to older mac machines.

Today I upgraded my iMac 11,2 (iMac mid 2010, 25") from 10.14.2 to 10.14.4 using dosdude's latest mojave patcher and using the suggested patches+recovery patch (I only use official releases) and for some reason the chess app fails to render anything (photo attached), yet if I do a safe boot, the chess app works but very laggy due to disabled graphics acceleration. Ive never faced this issue on 10.14.2, the chess app was working perfectly

id really appreciate your help in this regard
Found that on .4 with OpenGL and on .5 without OpenGL (yet) the version of Chess from El Cap (v3.13) works fine.
See attached zip. You might have to force remove old one (drag and drop chess.app from program folder to terminal after "sudo rm -R ", then hit return & enter pwd) if you want to replace it.
Perhaps newer (Sierra, HS or Mojave<10.14.4) also run, have not checked.

Chess from ElCap worked, even launched from Download folder, just holding CTRL while opening to allow unidentified developers to run it.

Have you tried to replace also Flurry screensaver from ElCap, maybe works ?

However .4 Chess app is another "side effect reason" to don't use 10.14.4 as main system, my opinion, but the others: feel free to use it.

edit:
Of course .3 Chess app (version 3.16) from 10.14.3 works perfectly OOB.
Side note: Chess.app version 3.16 is exactly the same adopted for 10.14.4 and .5 beta2 .

Last edited:
What do you mean "worked OOB"? Works on 10.14.4 with OpenGL? What difference is then in it despite same 3.16 version numbering? Interesting...

No, I meant that from 10.14.3 18D109 , Chess app version 3.16 that is the same version used in 10.14.4 and .5 beta2 works without ElCapitan replace, while Chess for Sierra 3.14 and for HighSierra 3.15 don't worked as replaced app.

Your fix for Chess version 3.13 to use in 10.14.4 worked.
But I guess other "GL surprises" 10.14.4 will reserve us.

First try to reset NVRAM and set boot args to something more typo-free, actual setting is
next-dev-mode=1 -no_compact_check -no_compat_check

and should read
kext-dev-mode=1 -no_compat_check

Then, run the patcher from the boot stick and patch for your machine, do not forget to rebuild caches.
Should do the trick then and boot fine from your installation.
[doublepost=1554969071][/doublepost]
Which version is it? .4 or .5beta(2)?
Solution depends on that.
.4 can be re-patched with v1.3.0 of dosdude1´s patcher when booted from the installer stick.
.5betas need other treatment and will not yet have OpenGL acceleration.

Hi! The version installed is.4, unfortunately the patcher version is 2.4.1, and right now I didn't have another machine to create a new patcher install, so my question is: it's possibly to install an older version of mojave without lost any data???

Thank you very much for your help!!!

Yes, you can i.e. install 10.14.3 atop of an existing 10.14.4 without losing your user data/programs/settings etc.
Just run the installer with the desired version and do a "normal" installation. Might take a bit longer than on an empty volume, but works reliably.

When you say "works on .4" do you mean .4 + post install retro-patches (.3 OpenGL and .3 GPUSupport)? If so, then this (sort of) makes sense. Like Flurry, we should then add Chess to our set of very OpenGL "sensitive" app test suite. Good find.

So far my experience upgrading from .3 or .4 straight to .5b2 and tweaking has been extremely miserable:
- normal workflow with latest post install : boot loop (as expected)
- customized post install with set of .4 kexts and gpu related frameworks : stuck in non-accelerated mode - no login.

@Larsvonhier workaround to use Chess.app 3.13 from ElCapitan has worked on mine 10.14.4 with stock .4 OpenGL and GPUSupport too.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Later I'll attach all the file I have used to reach the loginUI and allow using .5 beta2 either for dualGPUs and single GPU.

First of all delete NDRVShim.kext and rebuild a new kextcache without it.

Then it's very important to fix SLE permissions from single user mode target Mojave, doing from another OSX to me doesn't worked and stuck on "IOConsoleUsers".

edit:

All the files I attached haven't been modified by me, they have all the original apple "touch".

Using these files will allow to use the stock .4 OpenGL, .4 GPUSupport and .4 GPUWrangler to achieve acceleration on 10.14.4 and the same files could be used for allow Framebuffer on .5 beta2 but you need these in addition.

The folder 10145b2 will allow booting from DualGPUs machine and single GPU also.

It's very important to fix permissions and rebuild kextcache from single user mode directly on the target disk, rather than from another OSX.

Frameworks don't need permissions fixing.

Yes, indeed. 10.14.4 with the retro-patches runs the older Chess v3.13 (from El Cap) fine on i.e. Nvidia and HD3000 with working OpenGL acceleration.

I forgot to mention, but tried also to use old flurry.saver from El Cap (has same version number as latest Mojave version). Does not work when replaced. Same gray screen. Did this before the Chess issue came up and forgot about it.

Thanks, that will help keep track of all these different paths. The only way stay sane through all of this is by keeping copious notes.

I also make confusion when replace/rename/move/delete .

If on single IGPU system you still can't boot use these instead.

This archive contains the AGC kext group from .5 beta1 and GPUWrangler from .4 , this is only for singleGPU to load Framebuffer.

For Dual GPUs .5 beta2 see my previous post.

Of course no OpenGL acceleration in any case, I guess I achieved that broken transparency only with IntelHD graphics, not Nvidia Tesla, however the Nvidia Tesla Framebuffer was better with .5 beta1 that I still have on another drive.

I've had nothing but problems trying to get Mojave to run on my late 2015 21.5" iMac. I even installed an external SSD thinking the problem was y slow fusion drive. My problems included repeated bouncing beach ball, frequent frozen apps requiring force quits, unreliable Finder, etc.

I finally reinstalled High Sierra, which runs super fast with the SSD.

I believe the problem is the limited 8 GB memory. Too bad that Apple did not design a way to upgrade the memory on the late 2015 model.

Has anyone got Mojave to run properly on the late 2015 iMac?

Hi all,
I did not have time before but that's it is done, I have transparency effect in light mode and in dark mode with my MBP 5,3 mid-2009 under Mojave 10.14.4 (18E2034).
Many thanks to pkouame and all those who contributed

Do I read this wrong? Or a new Mojave build(18E2034) is already out? I am still on 18E226.
I believe so but Im not going to install it yet until the issues with KP's are fixed

I’ve tried reinstalling macOS 10.14.4 again, and whatever I do, it always gets caught up in the “too many corpses” loop. This what happens if I boot with verbose and safe mode enabled...
