That's what I'm saying... You don't wanna sacrifice your performance for the sake of some cosmetic stuff of Mojave. Better buy a new Mac and don't mess with all that... Apple developers have dropped out our old machines and want us to buy new ones. It's up to everybody to buy or not but so far for my needs, my old boy is enough way to go)... And High Sierra is gonna be the system supported for a couple of years at least. Why do we need those perversions with Mojave??? When it's the time High Sierra support is dropped out and my needs are gonna be more demanding I'll go for a new machine. The newest software is supported on High Sierra so far as well... That's my point)
No real argument here buddy. You a re right, HS in certain use cases outshines Mojave.

But there are many non-cosmetic related benefits to Mojave - too numerous to mention (again) - from casual use to simply interoperability with other "modern" supported machines running Mojave...To each his own. This thread is doing amazing things...don't knock it.

Question:
I get offered several times a day the "News OpenCL Patch".
I don't want to install it, system is running, how can I deactivate the announcement from the Patch Updater?
Unchecking the box doesn't work.
Thanks.

One can reduce the warnings by deselecting the features in the Patch Updater CP.

I'm planning on adding an "ignore update" feature, but you can just disable the check if you want, using the "Patch Updater" pane of System Preferences. Although, installing the News OpenCL patch won't cause any issues with any system. I'd recommend just installing it.

Hello,

I just downloaded macOS Mojave Patcher 1.3.2. Then I used it to download macOS Mojave. I thought it was going to download 14.5 since that's the latest release. But when I do a Get Info on the downloaded file (6.05 GB), it reports the version as 14.4.10.

How do I confirm what version I downloaded? And how do I make sure I download 14.5?

Thanks in advance.

I've just released the fix for News under 10.14.4 and later via Patch Updater for Mojave Patcher users. Thanks a ton, @Minh_Ton!

I just ran Patch Updater which installed the fix for News in 10.14.5 running on my 17" Early 2008 MacBook Pro 2.6 Ghz C2D 6GB RAM (MacBookPro4,1) and News is now working beautifully. Thanks!

Suggestion: Make Patch Updater's "Installed Patch Updates" windows TALLER so we don't have to scroll to see all the updates.

You can right-click on the „Install macOS Mojave.app“ and select „Show package content“.
Then open the „/Contents/SharedSupport/InstallInfo.plist“ with a text editor.
[edit:] Or just hit Space for QuickView of the file
In several places you should see
Code:
<key>version</key>
    <string>10.14.5</string>
Maybe there‘s an easier way but this seems legit.

Thanks dosdude, too late, I just deleted the patch updater.
Now I reinstalled it, in programs, not in utilities and also the OpenCL patch, I hope I'll survive it...

Hi guys! Who has a MacBook Pro early 2011 with iGPU intel hd3000 graphics please Do not upgrade to Mojave! You will not have the full video hardware acceleration with fully working intel quick sync technology! On top of that you will have bad looking fonts and other glitches etc. You'd better stay with High Sierra I'm telling you!... It works not worse but even better and smoother because of the video card unfortunately(... I've tried both systems compared and chosen High Sierra though...It's not that old fart yet)... Just my advice imho

I have 15in Early 2011 Macbook Pro 8,2. My AMD dGPU died, and I had to disable it. Because I HAD to disable the dGPU, I decided why the heck not try Mojave. While I can't speak to your issue with Intel quick sync (I don't use that AFAIK), I can otherwise verify that my Macbook Pro is running better today than when my dGPU was working and I was on High Sierra. I have not seen any of the other issues you mention. So perhaps it is a "YMMV" thing. I'm exceedingly happy with Mojave on my MPB 8,2...

Step 3 breaks wifi for me every time and requires a reinstall. So just the first two steps is fine + either CAT or the two kexts. I prefer the kext method since the system largely remains untouched. Lilu does on the fly editing

p.s my method posted above is mostly automatic - no searching around for things to replace using nano so it can be fully automated into a bash script (like what i do now)

Thanks for this. I was not aware of Lilu, and after your post (and some reading up), I really like this solution much better than the other solution I found. I'm going to try this ASAP. I agree that having an automated bash script is the way to go.

(I'm still wondering why I don't have any issues with my Step 3 commands. I found those somewhere here, and they work fine for my MBP 8,2 w/CAX WiFi upgrade. What I'd really like is to find a 802.11ac upgrade that fits...)

Just yesterday I downloaded MacOS Mojave from the MacOS Mojave Patcher 1.3.2. Using Command I (Get Info) reveals Version: 14.5.02.
I actually installed/downloaded yesterday too. I'm in Canada, maybe that matters?

You can right-click on the „Install macOS Mojave.app“ and select „Show package content“.
Then open the „/Contents/SharedSupport/InstallInfo.plist“ with a text editor.

I did that too; both version.plist and info.plist says 14.4.10 in them.

I guess I'll download again and see.

Edit: I downloaded again, and this time I did get 14.5.02.

Thank you both.

There is no newer replacement for my 17" MBP5,2 which I am using a lot when travelling by train. I'm very happy with 10.14.5, I find it as stable as .3. I don't need many apps though, xCode, Affinity Photo and Arduino are among the more exotic ones, and they work well. Plus I don't need new glasses... thanks 17".

Thanks to all contributors! Looking forward to 10.14.6 final and 10.15. It is good to try and stay on top of macOS development.

Even stranger here on .6b1 - green LED goes on with start of facetime, but blank black window (not grey with no-cam-sign). After a while message pops up noting "no camera video signal - restarting computer might help".
This is on my MBP4,1.
Will restart and see, helped back in .3 times with patches in place...

Edit:
Restart/Reboot does not help. Photobooth also affected (which is plausible), also with LED on but black screen.

It would probably help to provide more background info. What is the last OS you had installed? All the Macs that natively support APFS must have High Sierra installed first since it is provides all the necessary firmware updates. Have you tried a clean install?
[doublepost=1558426103][/doublepost]Facetime (isight) seems to be working on my MacBook5,1.

Mac mini 4,1:
Installing MacOS 10.14.5 or OTA 10.14.6 Beta 1 using the MacOS Mojave Patcher Tool works very well. After the install the MacOS Post Install Patches are applied for the Macmini 4,1 followed by a Reboot. The system boots just fine. On the desktop pops up the Patch Updater with a Legacy Video Patch. This patch is applied followed by a Reboot, but unfortunately the boot hangs forever with the apple on a white screen and progress bar without any progress. If the Legacy Video Patch is ignored and not applied everything seems to be OK.
Also the News app seems to work properly without any intervention.

Well could you boot to verboose and give us screen what happens? Well I have some thoughts that there is something wrong with patches. Same happened to me, after Update screen was flickering so I booted and installed patches and now I am stucked on MACH reboot

I guess you should re-install again Mojave over your current drive (you won't lose your datas by reinstalling), since a "kernel panic cpu mach reboot" in your case occurred mainly for mismatched core extensions (resulting in a wrong prelinkedkernel) and won't be simple to keep track of them.

I suppose it's due to some mismatched IOUSB*.kext, since 2010-2011 machines can use the Mojave stock ones so if they were "patched" that could cause issues.
I'd esclude frameworks issues, but easier solution is re-installing Mojave and this time don't select any "USB patches" in Post-Install.

I guess your issue isn't related to extensions/frameworks, but maybe to some wrong cache earlier generated, since "opendirectoryd" isn't loaded from single user mode (unless manually "launchctl load") so you can try fix it in this way, boot holding CMD+S , then when you land into Shell type:

fsck -fy
(this will take a while)

mount -uw /
cd /var/db/caches/opendirectory/
mv mbr_cache mbr_cache-backup
reboot

Something slightly off topic. I am very impressed with the IINA player performance on my MacBook5,1. It actually plays 4K video files! The file I tried has this profile: VP9, 3840 x 2160, 25 fps(might be some video/audio synchronisation issue but nonetheless impressive). Obviously it plays 1080p60fps like it is nothing.I am probably the last to learn about it but decided to mention it regardless.

Hello everyone,
I would like to know if someone also met the same problem (same bug as High Sierra), on my 3 machines upgraded to 10.14.5 the Terminal does not record history bash when the window is closed (Cmd + W) , to force written commands to register in bash history, I have to write the "exit" command before closing the Terminal window. (I realized that writing a command and closing the window without typing "ENTER" saved the last command into the file "~/.bash_history" (which is not very convenient).
In any case the folder "~/.bash_sessions" is incremented by one more file each time I close the Terminal window which is correct.
- I checked the permissions of the file "~/.bash_history"
- I deleted the folder "~/.bash_sessions"
- I do not have a file "~/.bash_sessions_disable"
- I also did a sudo rm .bash_history followed by a touch .bash_history to make a new one.

SOLUTION #1:
1- Show hidden files
2- Edit the file "~/.bash_profile" and add "SHELL_SESSION_HISTORY = 0" in the first line without forgetting to save it.
3- Hide the files
4- Close and relaunch Terminal

SOLUTION #2:
1- Open Terminal and write: nano ~/.bash_profile
2- Before the first line write: SHELL_SESSION_HISTORY=0
3- Make "CTRL + X" then "Y" + "ENTER" to confirm the writing
4- Close and relaunch Terminal

I noticed this problem too in High Sierra. Simply running touch ~/.bash_sessions_disable solves the problem for me. I believe it does the same thing as your environment variable setting.

You don't need the legacy USB patch if your USB/keyboard/touchpad/iSight are working. However, it shouldn't cause any issues since it's a clean USB injector kext, not a crude 10.13.6 version replacement like we used to do.
