Tried booting a 27" iMac11,3, 16GB, 1TB SSD with the dreaded ATI Radeon HD5670 GPU into 10.14.3 and it ran just fine, all functions seemed to work. There was no video acceleration but the screen displayed at full resolution and the color tables appeared scrambled with green missing altogether. The display looks great in High Sierra which boots natively. The 21.5" iMac11,2 with the ATI Radeon HD 4670 is on 10.14.6b1, runs like a champ. Seems like the iMac11,3 could join the effort?

Any suggestions?
Put a 4xxx series video card in the 11,3, and it'll run Mojave as well as your 11,2.

Hey Guys,

I’ve a cMP 3,1 with BCM94360CD 802.11ac mini pci-e bt wifi combo card.

I decided to downgrade to Mojave 10.14.1 from 10.14.4 coz it was seriously slower (for me it’s sure).

Everything was fine, i got much faster system, when i booted el capitan, the mouse and keyboard not working until second boot. (force power off, and boot again elcap) I know this, always have an issue, but NOW when i booted mojave again bluetooth unreachable, working with limitations (magic mouse not scrolling, keyboard f keys not changing volume, etc… ), Maybe is it not loaded bt kexts?

i Patched the installer with Dosdude’s 1.2.3 and 1.3.0 tools too, same result.

Has anybody an idea to fix?

I reinstalled OS few times, working well until i boot in El Capitan.

Thank you

Probably the best way to make it work, can musical drivers short of disassembly be an option? Dread taking these unwieldily aluminum-back iMac's apart. Over at TonyMacX86 there are a slew of NVIDIA drivers for every version of High Sierra, should I even try?

5/6000HD are different from the 4000 series. The colors can be fixed by changing the color depth to 24 bit from 30 bit but there's still no acceleration.

Thanks @dosdude1 for making Mojave possible on a late 2008 aluminium MacBook :)

I have one issue, Photos.app quits unexpectedly after a few minutes of use, presenting the following:

Crashed Thread: 13 Dispatch queue: PARenderContextSource

Exception Type: EXC_CRASH (SIGABRT)
Exception Codes: 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000
Exception Note: EXC_CORPSE_NOTIFY

Application Specific Information:
Assertion failed: (preprocKernel), function -[CIDisparityPreprocV3 outputImage], file /BuildRoot/Library/Caches/com.apple.xbs/Sources/CoreImage/CoreImage-750.0.140/Framework/filters/PortraitBlur/CIsDOF.m, line 2616.
Does anyone have any ideas what is happening and if it is related to the patched system and how I could resolve?

I've tried:
Repairing the photo library,
Fixing permissions,
Signing out of iCloud (I don't use iCloud Photos, just a local library),
Rebuilding to a new library with PowerPhotos.

Thank you

My mp3.1 has an updated BT/WiFi card like yours. For Mojave 14.0 to 14.3 the BT part of the card was never recognised. Replacing the following kexts IOBluetoothFamily.kext, IOBluetoothHIDDriver.kext, IOACPIFamily.kext with those from HS(13.6) always solved the problem. Mojave 14.4 and 14.5 recognise the card without any replacement kexts. I have found no speed issues with the later versions.

Anybody experiencing choppy scrolling on old macbook's? Really annoying to use Safari/Chrome, feels like 10-20 fps. cpu and ram usage are ok. Hm...
Nope, fine for me as well on a MacBook7,1. Which MacBook do you have, specifically? Since you say your CPU/RAM usage is fine, is it possibly a touchpad issue rather than actual slowness? Also, I assume that you have graphics acceleration working? If not, that can cause a lot of lagginess.

Thank you for reply boys. I have Macbook Pro Mid 2009 (Macbookpro 5,5), and i assume, that problem in RAM though. I’ve had before Macbook Aluminum Unibody Late 2008 with 6 GB of RAM and used Safari without any issues, now i have only 4 GB on “new” macbook. But still weird, scrolling is smooth only when i had more than a half free ram, but once it more than half (after 10-15 minunets of using), i have choppy scrolling.

I've seen a report of this crash in the blur filter. Someone claims Option-clicking to open Photos then creating a new library solves it. Not sure if this will do the trick for you. Do you have a complete trace or crash log? Only way to tell if it has anything to do with our patches... What version of macOS are you on?

Safari runs smooth on same machine 13" || MBP5,5 || but 8GB ram...

Anyone else having issues with shutdown with MacbookPro5,2? Mine usually stalls on shutdown. Not seen this behavior previously. Wiped drive and reinstalled but issue remains. Current workaround seems to be log out then shutdown.

Safari and Firefox work great on my MacBook5,1 with only 4GB of RAM. As I mentioned recently, the true memory test happen when you go to About This Mac/Storage/Manage. This is when I can see memory pressure spike into the red for a brief moment and stay in yellow.

No problem here with shutdown. Works well with 9400M and 9600M GT.
10.14.5 installed with dosdude patcher 1.3.2, and then jackluke's Mojave10145DualGpuFix applied (#post 15045, pg 602).

I remember that without jackluke's additional patch, I had problems during boot after a shutdown in 9400 mode, esp. after having switched GPUs. NVRAM reset fixed this then (seems to reset the gMUX as well). 9600 always worked.
No such problems after jackluke's patch even when having switched GPUs multiple times.

Greetings... I bought a MBP4,1 thinking it was the 17-inch. Turned out it was the 15-inch. I wanted to use its parts to repair the olde 17" which screen had died and everything was - well - dying piece by piece. The owner said the MB was faulty. Since it was only £5 (yes!), I was philosophical about my loss (£15 for freight). Out of curiosity, I plugged in the laptop, and was astounded when it gave the startup sound which, I thought, meant the MB was OK. I put in a blank spare SSD (120Gb), and used @dosdude1's patcher to put Mojave on it, in the process, converting the SSD's format to APFS (not intentionally, but...). Imagine my surprise when, after the post-install, it ran. For 2 days...

A follow-up to this post. The problem turned out to be the 120Gb SSD (Kingston) that I used. Once I changed it, the machine was fine - except for AirDrop. It would not work. The laptop had the original BCM94321 WiFi card which I patched using the post-install patch tool of @dosdude1 Mojave patcher. Finally, I put in the BCM94322 card from the old 17", and AirDrop started working. I am not sure if it's just a one-off. Perhaps others would report on their experience with patched BCM94321 WiFi cards.

About the incompatibilities with APFS and SSDs apart the controller and the negotiated link-speed, I guess the clue is in the SATA revision, I mean with old machines (pre-2011) I usually prefer and use SSDs with SATA2 (3Gb/s) interface which require less power from the board than SATA3 (6Gb/s), and SATA2 SSD sometimes are even more expensive than SATA3 and some with MLC cells are also becoming rare to find.

Mine is working fine natively, (after post install of course) (10.14.1) without any kext replacing until i restart in ElCap.

I did kext business from final release of HS. Are u sure is it solve this? I got reboot loop, tried to reset pram, repatch, same: apple appears about few seconds, boom restart.
What you think?

Thank you :)

Im having two issues guys:

1. When downloading larger files, the wifi just stops working. I have to turn off and on the wifi toggle in order for it to work again.

2. Everytime someone calls me on my iPhone, if I have a tab open with a youtube channel open, the youtube video will start playing.

Anyone have any suggestions?

@dosdude1 I wanted to say thanks for all the work on "macOS Mojave Patcher" (thank you very much, I can now use Xcode 12.2.1 as there is no way I could afford a newer "new or used" MacBook at this time)

For Anyone else with a:

* MacBookPro8.2 (Variant: The 15-inch, Late 2011, 1680 x 1050, Broadcom BCM43xx, 16GB RAM)

My experience:

* "macOS Mojave Patcher" went great creating the installer volume (to a USB-based hard-drive), zero issues
* "macOS Post Install" went great (I did have manually select the Broadcom patch), zero issues

* "MacBook Pro dGPU Disabler" I tried this approach but lost the brightness and sleep ability (the sleep ability really was a pain point for me)

* Using https://luispuerto.net/blog/2017/12/11/disconnecting-the-dgpu-in-a-late-2011-macbook-pro-third-way/ as a guide:
** Manually un-did the changes from MacBook Pro dGPU Disabler (it would be nice if there was an installer for this ;-)
** Simplified version of that blog post is to move the "AMDRadeonX3000.kext" out of /System/Library/Extensions and then load it via kextload after login, that is all that was required (that is with the nvram cmd, but dGPU Disabler already handled that since I tried it first)

This has brought back the brightness (via keyboard and System Preferences) and sleep works correctly now and I have not found anything that does not work correctly in the last few days.... :)

How does one, un-do the changes from the MacBook Pro dGPU Disabler? Would you so kindly be able to provide the steps you took? Thanks in advance!

My HackBookPro 5,1 (Penryn T9300 CPU, 8GB DDR2 RAM) is amazingly responsive. Here are a few things I did to improve performance on this early 2008 laptop:
  • System Preferences > Accessibility > Display > Reduce Motion (checked)
  • System Preferences > Accessibility > Display > Reduce Transparency (checked)
  • System Preferences > Spotlight > Uncheck all search results
  • System Preferences > Spotlight > Privacy > Add all volumes
