A sure way to tell if accel works on any GPU is to see if you get opacity on the finder (side bar, dock, window panes etc.). If not accelerated, you get solid black or white surfaces there.
In addition to the energy saver system settings (where you can specify to always use the more powerful GPU if you have two in your system) there are good tools like gfxCardStatus to set this permanently or switch on the fly.

i tested the hybrid patch, does it enable the graphics accel, or just fix the opacity?

extract latest windowserver crash log from /Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports folder
I won’t have access to my Mac until Saturday at the earliest as I’m on vacation.

Ah great, I found it in AMDSharedIL
strange enough I haven't had a crash on rx560 due to this

Code:
00000000000439bc popcntq %rax, %rax
00000000000439e8 popcntq (%rcx), %rsi
0000000000043a21 popcntq %rdx, %rcx
0000000000065793 popcntq %rax, %rax
00000000000657bf popcntq (%rcx), %rsi
00000000000657f8 popcntq %rdx, %rcx
000000000006f3a7 popcntq (%r15,%rcx,8), %rdx
Could this by why the rx 580 is having an issue?

Macbookpro5,2 running 10.14.5 sometimes stalls on shutdown. Seems to be related to Bluetooth. If I do not use Bluetooth Apple keyboard or Magic Mouse, shutdown works else it stalls. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

yes on my MacBook 5,2 with 10.14.6 beta 1 sometimes stalls shutting down

Since Mojave will be the end of the line for stable accelerated video on non-Metal machines, it might be useful to refocus the efforts on those towards making sure future Mojave security updates apply cleanly on unsupported machines. I doubt this can be done transparently under Software Update but perhaps a utility could be crafted to repackage future manually downloaded security update packages to address potential problem areas like unsupported machine checks or recovery partition updates.

Also on a MBP5,2, I didn't observe this.
Normally I don't use Bluetooth. For a test connected the MBP via Bluetooth with an iPhone SE (no other Bluetooth device available). Tried three times, but no stall on shutdown - this may be not enough statistics?

(MBP5,2 17" 2.8GHz mid 2009, 8GB, APFS ROM patch applied, Samsung SSD 860 EVO with APFS. macOS 10.14.5 installed with dosdude's patcher 1.3.3., then applied jackluke's Mojave10145DualGpuFix #15045 and ASentientBot's Arduino fix #9229)

I would not give up yet ASentientBot post this on the MacOS Catalina for unsupported Macs :) still working on issues with crashes but it looks very promising

Identical systems. Only difference are the GPU / arduino fixes not applied to my machine. Yes, my observation is anecdotal.

RFI from SSD?
Stalled shutdown issue is recent (as of 10.14.5) with no other changes other than upgrade to 10.14.5. I think maybe linked to Bluetooth (this is a guess based on superficial observation). Does not seem like others are experiencing issue (on macbookpro5,2).

Looks like a rev rollback. From a Dev eMail:

A New Build is Available.
10.14.5 - 18G48f is now available in the Software Update pane in System Preferences. Please back-up important information or clone your drive, and review the release notes and detailed installation instructions completely before attempting to install the software.

Installation.
Pre-release macOS Mojave Beta builds are available through Applications > System Preferences > Software Update. This makes it easy for you to install the latest pre-release builds. Before you begin, ensure you are on macOS Mojave 10.14, 10.14.1, 10.14.2, 10.14.3, 10.14.4, 10.14.5, or an earlier seed build of 10.14.6. Please back-up important information or clone your drive.
