SilentKnight updated X-Protect, MRT and SU2021-002 in less than 20 minutes like on autopilot. Rebooted into USB, re-installed patches, rebuilt Caches, perfect, yet again.

While installing the mojave patcher on a MacBookPro8,1,
I can get as far as "Installing... about 33 minutes remaining" - then the computer shuts down and I just get the circle with slash symbol.

Resetting NVRAM + Online recovery + Some terminal command seemed to let me boot - but then brightness keys didn't work, nor screensaver, and the apple logo stayed lit when closed.

Any ideas, fellows?
Reboot into the USB installer and re-install the Post Install patches. Rebuild caches. Done.

How well does it run? I have a 2011 Mac mini, and here are my specs (it has an SSD too). Would Mojave run as well as High Sierra on my Mac?

Can someone please help me? I still have a MacBook Pro 5.5 on which I installed macOS Mojave 10.14.6 some time ago with the help of dosdude1's patcher. Unfortunately, I can no longer remember what I have to do in order to subsequently install additional updates such as this current SecUpd2021-002Mojave update. The internal SSD used here is still formatted with HFS+. Thanks in advance for tips!

Suggest these similar Security & Privacy CP selections to complete the @dosdude1 v.1.3.7 Mojave Patcher installation into /Applications or /Applications/Utilities ƒ by fully enabling all Patcher capabilities without obstructions.

@Dayo wrote a script that does most of the heavy lifting.

@nospamboz , @Dayo , unfortunately the link to the script FixMacUpdates.sh isn't working anymore (404 at GitHub). Could you possibly provide an alternative download link? Thanks! ?

Thanks, @Dayo . Was able to download the script. But despite of your instructions the result in Terminal always is "... : Permission denied" ...

You might need to make the script executable first.

In Terminal...
1. Type 'chmod +x'
2. Leave a space
3. Drag the script file in
4. Press 'Enter'

@Dayo : Doesn't work either. Same result. But I tried 'chmod +x' instead, now the installation runs smoothly. Thanks again for your quick help and your great script of course! ?

Yeah I think it's because I never upgraded to High Sierra (as you say you did). High Sierra is when APFS was rolled out, so my guess is that the High Sierra installer has some sort of built in step that converts the boot drive to APFS -- a step the Mojave installer does not have. I tried going directly from El Capitan (last supported OS for cMP3,1) to Mojave (via Mojave Patcher) and there seems to be an intermediary (or manual) step missing from my process.

I followed dosdude1's instructions to a T, and even installed the extra package to install the latest BootROM as listed in the following paragraph:

But installing that firmware update package did nothing for me.

I think the missing chapter is how to convert your boot drive from HFS+ to APFS and where in the process do you do it. I've tried doing the HFS+ to APFS conversion manually, while booted from the Mojave Patcher USB and from within Disk Utilty's "Convert to APFS" menu item. But perhaps that is not the correct method. Or there are extra steps to take that are not documented or obvious.
Important Note: If you have a machine that supports High Sierra natively, you MUST ensure you have the latest version of the system's BootROM installed if you want to boot from an APFS volume. If you have NOT previously installed High Sierra, you can download and install this package to install the latest BootROM version. When installing, ensure your system is plugged in to power, or the update will not be installed.
The quote you refer to says "If you have a machine that supports high sierra natively" You machine does not. So that will not work.

Try a clean install, that might help with any issues you have.
Back up your data and restore the backup to the fresh installation.
Maybe if you directly format your ssd to apfs it will work better.

Also try recreating the mac os patcher usb from another system if you can. Start over with a fresh install usb and a clean ssd. I have never installed high sierra on my mac pro 3,1 so that can't be it.

Finally got the patched Mojave to run on my Mac mini 3,1. I'm not sure if upgrading the RAM to 8 GB helped or if using a mini-DVI to DVI adapter instead of a display port to VGA adapter helped.

The latter was a smart choice anyway:

Converting a digital signal (miniDP) to an anlog and possibly using a digital LCD and convert it back to digital is just a horrible waste of energy and quality. Get rid of these old analog cables and connectors.

Hello everyone,

I installed macOS Mojave 10.14.6 (18G103) via macOS Mojave Patcher 1.3.7 on an external SSD formatted HFS + (Journaled) on my Mac mini (Late 2009 - Macmini3,1) while OS X 10.11.6 (15G22010) is installed in the internal SSD obviously HFS + (Journaled).

On Mojave I have not made any further system updates (only the automatic ones of XProtect and MRT) nor the updates proposed by the Patcher (News OpenCL Patch, Software Update Patch and Night Shift Patch).

I also have the exact same problem described in this post by @McZobel (to him on MacPro4,1) and that is that I cannot download apps already purchased from the Mac App Store:

@McZobel wrote that he solved with the PRAM reset:

I have not tried this solution because I would like to understand first what connection there is between the PRAM and the Mac App Store and if this operation could create problems with my internal SSD with El Capitan.

Did this solution work for someone else too?

Thanks in advance to those who will answer.

I have Mojave with latest 2021-002 updates and Safari 14.0.3 on my 17” 2010 MBP 6,1.

I was seeing garbled PNG images in Safari. I was able to solve the issue by 1. Enabling the Debug menu 2. Checking Drawing/Compositing Flags ->Disable Full Page Accelerated Drawing

Same PNG issue exists in apple mail -- presumably using the same WebKit Framework as Safari 14. I haven't found a fix for Mail, but I can live with it.

Are you getting any specific error message on the App Store?

Resetting PRAM is very safe and won't create problems with your internal SSD. But before you try that I would try to explicitly log out of the App Store and log out of iCloud, etc.

I've had some odd App Store errors here and there, and usually signing out and back in fixes things for me.
