Thanks for the tip, trully appreciated. Upon enabling private data logging this is how the repeating log shows:

notify_check(user.uid.501.com.apple.LaunchServices.database) == false

also getting lots of:

Bundle 0x117d9f048 does not have supported regions plist entry. (not quite as many as the previous entry, still running at about 10% of the first entry)

Any take on what's happening and how to proceed?
No idea. Reinstall Mojave over your Mojave? Or do a clean install? Then maybe Migration Assistant to copy stuff from the other install?

Anyone put Mojave on a Mid 2009 iMac? Im running .13 just fine and have found Mojave decent if not faster on other C2D machines, but I just wondering what others have tried. My specs are currently 2.0/8/500GB SSD. I miss dark mode the most and Safari 14 & iTunes 12.9.5 would be nice.

Things I tried rebuilding with no result so far...

- LaunchServices
- dyld's shared cache
- XPC cache
- CoreDuet database

...

all these done via Onyx to no avail, same symptoms. I'll look into rebuilding Spotlight's index in the coming days and report back in case someone's experiencing the same issue.

Re-installing Mojave on top should fix the problem. Force Cache Rebuild after the patches are reapplied.

Mojave runs well on all of the '09 Macs.

Yeah, Ive used it on other C2D machines quite well. I initially ran .15 but it was not a great experience. I dropped 18G8022 on my Mid 09 iMac, works pretty much as well as .13. Brightness is not working but I grabbed Brightness Slider out of the store. Mojave seems like a great place to be with in balance of performance and features.

I'm afraid I had no luck with reinstalling Mojave on top of the first installation and force cache rebuild..I get the exact same console messages propagating from the Finder and CPU is getting hammered periodically like clockwork as soon as I touch the root folder via Finder...

[edit] a few hours and reboots later in order to perform the necessary updates and patches again and again it appears to have been magically fixed itself - no more console reports, no process hogging the cpu anymore...go figure; will keep an eye and report any finding if necessary as this unfolds [/edit]

Occasionally, reports of patches not sticking do occur. A patch re-install from USB, rebuild caches is often the fix. A full HDD or Fusion Drive can dampen installs, taking hours to stabilize. YMMV

Anyone know if you can run something like
Code:
sudo softwareupdate -i 'MAC OS NAME''
targeting a specific disk from the USB patch boot drive via Terminal? Looking to be able to update my main drive normally but apply security updates to other drives without having to boot into them and just do it from the USB boot drive.

After the 2020-005/006 and Safari debacle both my MP3,1 and MBP7,1 are trashed. I "refreshed" the install on my MP to 18G103 and as per the instructions by Mr. Macintosh loaded everything up to 2020-007. I installed 007 and now I can not install 2021-001 and 002. I have already installed the two twice before. But now I get at the end of the install of 2021-001 that it had failed. Also the 3,1 will not boot off the appropriate volume except through the "Picker" OF WHICH the volume is selected as it should be and all I have to do is hit enter and it boots very slowly. Usually everything runs great and all is well. But now I have Outlook and a couple of other apps are going wonky.

I have been running OSs on these machines for years and have never had a problem until the 2020-005/006 & Safari 14.0.1 (which I never use). This is a mess since DosDude1 stopped making Patchers and Mr. Macintosh is all caught up in BS (Big Slurp).

If anyone knows of new resources or info, please let me know!

Unless Apple has changed something, each Security Update includes the ingredients of previous updates. So, the current update will will cover all of the previous updates. Just as important is keeping X-Protect and MRT current. If formatted APFS, SilentKnight will keep everything up-to-date, if HFS+ SK will still update X-Protect and MRT, as required.

18G103 is the most current full-installer for Mojave. It works perfectly with @doddude1 Mojave patcher v.1.3.7. Make the USB and install on top of the existing sketchy install, re-patch, force re-build caches, re-boot. Applicable updates should return. APFS will make life much easier, btw. Other macOS full-installers can be D/L directly from Apple using gibMacOS-master. <attached>

Thanks for bearing with me on this -

Although I'm still investigating the issue, I'm now pretty confident that this Finder ill-behaviour is closely related to having multiple Google Drives installations on this machine. I first noticed that in quitting all (3) would restore the Finder's excessive cpu use back to normal levels and then also noticed that upon right-clicking the respective google drive contextual finder menus wouldn't show. In turn enabling / disabling the feature on one of the clients via preferences > settings > show file sync status icons and right click menu would for some strange reason carry over to the other clients, so I decided to disable all and the finder has been quiet eversince...

I shall report back in the future with my conclusive findings and possibly flag this up with the mac dev team of Google Drive if i find that this is the case on my other systems natively supported by Mojave and not having been put through the patched update process (in case this had something to do with it that is).

There is actually ONE MORE THING that's off with my Mojave installation though and while I'm confident it's been discussed a gazillion times again in the past I might as well try again here one more time. It has to do with how shadows of in-line app pop-up windows are cast / displayed - on NOT to be precise - on this machine. Bearing in mind that this is an iMac11,1 equipped with a Radeon HD4850 512MB, I'm getting this strange phenomena where in Safari for example the downloads window, the iCloud tabs one, as well as the privacy report one - all residing in the status bar won't cast any peripheral shadows around which makes differentiating the content of the windows pretty strange. Same goes for the details pop-up window as well as the adding new recipient pop-up window in Messages, same goes for the details pop-up window in calendars for example when double-clicking any event. No peripheral shadow be in in light or dark mode. Is this a known-issue?

Funny enough if I choose the Reduce transparency option within Accessibility / Display all the shadows are displayed somewhat properly but still while in dark mode the white hairline border around ALL app windows is NOT displayed AT ALL compared to a properly supported Mojave system, but I'd rather not go down that route since I find that I don't like said change at all...

Here's some snapshots showcasing the issue between the MacBookPro which is properly supported (Intel HD4000) and the patched iMac (Radeon HD4850)...

Excellent! While the white hairline border is not there - which is a matter of personal preference - all the rest has been restored to somewhat supported-system display now, many thanks!

It's not that Apple changed anything, up until the 2020-005/006 & Safari update problem, I never had a problem and everything was running great. I had installed and played with Catalina & BS. But that was before the update problem and since I had no use for them, wiped both and focused on Mojave. Since the update debacle it's been a mess. Yeh, last night I tore back into the MB that was at 18G103 after a "Refresh" reapplication using my remade USB Full Time Mojave Installer made from the 1.3.7 Installer Maker I Beta'd, that I've been using it since.

Long ago I watched DD1s site like a Hawk and made every move right along with what was posted instantly. When he went away, i.e., I found Mr. Macintosh as the next gen source for Hackintosh's and all this OS stuff. I got a ton of info and was able to add my own. But yesterday in re-re-re-reading the threads and rewatching the video's that haven't been updated in 3-6 months, Mr. M. found a new shiny toy, Big Slurp, I headed back into it as if I was a first-timer hoping for the best. I have a partition testbed that I have been working in that has been refreshed so many times it will no longer allow me to "refresh" it anymore. That's getting wiped as soon as I get through this other stuff.

I was right there before and when the update problem was in full swing and tried what I found fixed things, Onyx, then and it's now only making things worse. I found that Onyx fixed many major problems, but now causes just as many as it fixes. But was able to tone it down a bit and after running just the System fixes, I was able to run the 2021-001 update without errors as I have in the past. But the installation of the 002 release was nutz and took hours.

I have a brand new 4TB WD Black 7200rpm drive in the first slot with a partition that I made as APFS and just want to build it with Mojave and settle in for the duration (until I get a 5,1). But M$ won't let me reinstall Office. The drive change is messing up activation. If it isn't one thing, it's another. Now.

Thanks for the Master app. I will tear into it as soon as I startup and can DL it.

If you made a Time Machine BU which contains a working Office install, Migration Assistant will bring it over intact if these setting are made, #19,260 p.771. enjoy

Thank you! I will go take a look.

I have been reading a lot of that. But when I did it as others have, both fail due to what I was told by M$, the change of the Computer and Drive IDs. This first started in Office 2011 when they put in anti-piracy measures. But then I stumbled on an M$ help section to try to fix the problem. So . . .

I've just installed Mojave on a MacBook 7,1 and it simply will not sleep. I used the most recent Dosdude1 patcher, and allowed the system to update to 10.14.6 (and then had to re-patch)... I do not know if sleep was working prior to the update. I also have graphical artefacts showing in tabs when I roll over with a mouse or trackpad, and sound doesn't work at all (can't seem to make changes in system prefs), there's probably more and I am brinking on simply restoring my CCC backup of High Sierra. Anybody got any clues?

[edit] never mind, I think I’ll just restore my clone and when I have sufficient funds, will buy a new macbook pro which is what I should have got instead of this.

Booting into the v.1.3.7 @dosdude1 patcher, re-install the patches and then Force Cache Rebuild>Restart. It is not at all unusual for your situ to occur. It will eventually work. 😎

Thanks, maybe next time :) I did reboot, repatch and force cache rebuild but it didnt help. Now, I’m back on HS.

I believe the solution to your issue has been discussed somewhere in this thread, it probably has to do with parrotgeek's custom kext (NDRVShim ?) that did not allow sleep or work with an external monitor. You need to replace 3 kexts(taken from High Sierra):

System/Library/Extensions

IOGraphicsFamily.kext
IONDRVSupport.kext
AppleGraphicsControl.kext (or just AppleGraphicsDevicePolicy.kext in Plugins)

sudo chmod -R 755 <path to extension>
sudo chown -R 0:0 <path to extension>

sudo kextcache -system-prelinked-kernel
sudo kextcache -system-caches

If I remember correctly.

Hi, which is the oldest iMac you would recommend to install this on? I know it can be installed even on an iMac8,1, but how much Power is needed for Mojave to really run quickly?

Fitted with a SSD and max RAM even a 2GHz. unsupported Mac is very useable running Mojave.
Yeah I upgraded with a SSD and went from 2gb to 4gb RAM (I'm not sure if using 2+4gb = 6gb would make a positive difference?!)
what do you mean with 2gh? Should I overclock?

So Mojave will work fine? Because I tried Catalina.. work ok for browsing but OneDrive, MS Office is really slow..
