Hey boys. Can someone give me instructions on how to update Catalina in future? Do I need to install it over the current version with post install using Catalina Patcher? Thank you.

I still can't believe that my "new" (bought it three days ago in perfect condition, like 10/10) MacBook Pro 8,2 (Late 2011, 15 inch) working so good on Catalina, thanks to you boys, btw. Also, looks like I joined to "15-inch MacBook lovers" club. I have also MacBook Pro 5,2 (mid 2009, 13 inch), and I always felt like something is missing. Now I know what was wrong: I needed a bigger screen.

I've just released a major update to Catalina Patcher (along with a completely redesigned webpage as of a few days ago)! With this release, I have finally brought Catalina Patcher out of beta stages! All installation options are now fully implemented, finally bringing the program up to its full intended level of functionality. I have also implemented a logging feature, to more easily debug issues that may occur.

Please note, though, that at this time, the in-place installation method will only work on machines that have native APFS BootROM support. The external installer volume and ISO image methods will work on systems that do not have APFS BootROM support.

Enjoy, and of course, please report any issues!

Hey @dosdude1 I still can not download Catalina even with your latest patcher tool. It still says error there was a problem downloading macOS please check your internet connection and try again later. Is there a way I can download macOS Catalina installer on my windows Pc then copy the files to my Mac? If you or anyone can think of any ideas that can help me solve my problem that would be greatly appreciated!

Check your Downloads folder and see if that's a "macOSDownload" directory inside. If there is, delete it, and then try again.

@dosdude1,

Will we be able to do System Update | OTA now when the next version arrives?

Thank you as always for the new version of your excellent tool.

I have a MacBook pro 5,5. Used the patcher to put Catalina on a USB drive but when i go to install it, it says it has to be apfs format. Is there something I did wrong?

The target volume for installing patched Catalina has to be APFS. It is a requirement of the OS release.

Oh ok. So what does the "Disable APFS Booter" option do?

It inhibits the APFS Boot Patch from being automatically installed for the benefit of machines that have the APFS ROM patch applied. There is no way for the macOS post-install patcher to detect the presence of the APFS ROM patch so this option allows for manually creating a usb installer which doesn't default to installing the APFS Boot patch.

Hello all,
Something strange happened today. I’ve being using Catalina without any problem but today when I woke up, the system was showing the forbidden symbol. I don’t know what todo. I cannot use the command + R also.

Did you try rebooting into your Catalina Patcher and apply the post install patches if you hadn't updated to the latest beta maybe it installed while you were sleeping

@dosdude1 The installation drive made using your tool failed to work on my Hackintosh. On Clover the pen drive was listed, but only a small line in the upper part of the screen was present indecently. I have posted into the Insanelymac communities as well, to get the attention of the Clover developers. Something is wrong on my legacy system.
@julianfairfaix Where is your patcher? I would like to give it a try. I could not find it on GitHub.

The APFS Boot patch isn't designed for multiple partitions on the same device. The APFS Boot patch installs a boot loader on the single EFI partition of the drive and points it at the target APFS volume for booting. This is why you are having to reapply the APFS Boot patch each time in order to switch which APFS volume is the target for booting. It is the nature of the beast.

Thanks for the response.

I have @dosdude1's latest 1.0.2 patcher and didn't notice the "Disable APFS Booter" option. Where did that show up? Thanks.
