Hi guys !
Just updated my Mac Pro 3.1 from Mojave to Catalina and my
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 don´t work as before.
I cannot use the DP-Port, the HDMI-Port and the DVI-Port from the second "row" of the card.
The first DVI-Port (with Boot menu support) is working ...
Any ideas ??
Cheers

BlueSky 1.2 has been released which includes support for the public release of macOS 10.15 Catalina and improved version checking. This should solve all those incompatibility issues. For those who did not see on the Discord server, the previous versions have been removed and 1.2 doesn't support the 10.15 betas. You can download it here.

LATEST

macOS Patcher 3.0 beta 9 fully supports the public release of macOS 10.15 Catalina.
BlueSky 1.2 also fully supports the public release.

The versions that support macOS 10.15 betas have been removed from BlueSky's GitHub releases and the same will be done for macOS Patcher within the next couple of days while I iron bugs and prep for a final release and merge of master and master-3.0 on the GitHub source page.

BlueSky 1.4.4 :)

FileVault and APFS encryption not working with Patcher 1.1.7

Tries encrypting the volume before install and no joy. Reboots after the install.

Installing over a normal APFS all ok, but after activating FileVault and restarting the native APFS and the patches APFS boot into the password for the account but it didn’t accept it, including the recovery key...
Any steps here to make this work or is this still buggy???

Been Kept under Mojave in the meanwhile.

Installed it on a MacBookPro8,2 late 2011 15. Sleep/Wake/Brightness are working, but I'm not able to load the AMDRadeonX3000.kext post-boot, in an attempt to get better thermal condition.

The late 2011 MacBook Pro as a problem with the GPU and to bypass it, I used this solution in High Sierra : https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/267581/gpu-problem-boot-hangs-on-grey-screen/295805#295805

some discussions about it here : https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...ed-gpu-efi-variable-fix.2037591/post-27852775

and here:

It seems that the AMDRadeonX3000.kext included in the legacy video patch is "broken" ? Any idea about that?

Thanks for doing that Antony—saved me the same job at the W/E. Seems like it is bad news for Japanese IM on old unsupported Macs, unless somebody has some magic pixie dust. I wonder if other non-alphabetic languages like Korean, Chinese, Arabic, etc., are affected.

Hi @ASentientBot, I was reinstalled 10.15 DP8 and result same problem in Japanese IM.

Thank you very much for this! It looks great on my iMac 8,1.

Hi @TimothyR734 , tell me if I'm wrong, for bluesky I just need to replace the hitoolbox & the skylightoriginal in the good folder and then reboot. Right ?
see my post page 180 make sure you put the Catalina in the /Library/LaunchDaemons folder then reboot then follow the steps for Skylight and HIToolbox post#4492 but use the 1.4.4 version not the ones I posted only the CatalinaAutoMount you need to download from there

Others (me post #3879 and at least one other person) have reported same problem earlier in this thread. Seems like Apple either deprecated DisplayPort drivers or made an error in Catalina. This might get fixed by Apple because there are still Catalina-supported Macs with the the 680MX GPU (iMac 2012 27")—if the owners lose screen display and start complaining to Apple. In the meantime, the only fix is to use the working DVI or HDMI port.

i did a clean install of the official release of catalina three times; the last one with the latest patcher.

is the official release supposed to still include the feedback assistant?

Can you reuse the patched Catalina USB Installer for supported Mac computers in order to avoid creating two separated USB installers, one for supported and another unsupported Macs?

Thanks very much for replying !
It´s a shame and ridiculous that Apple and their thousands of developers don´t test cards with DP and 10.15.
Really ??

What is incomprehensible is the fact that I cannot use the second DVI-Port of the second "row". Also I cannot use the DP, but the HDMI-Port is working !
It seems more a driver problem, than exclusively a problem with the DP.

Cheers

I would be rather surprised if the HDMI ports on EVGA GTX680 cards weren't working on Catalina. The only reports that I have heard of on supported machines are non-functional ports the thunderbolt to DisplayPort adapters which maps to our failure with unsupported machines.

If Asian Language, Chinese and Korean I was tested and result is ok.

Yes, just tested it. See #4917

would that be possible at some point to run Catalina on MBP Late 2011 (MacBookPro8,2) with amd graphics enabled?

my chip isn't dead yet because i haven't used that machine so much and it would be nice to have that feature.

The link above will show you how to get Catalina running on an older Mac that is not supported by Apple.

Just a heads up for those with older Macs. I was able to install Catalina today and it's working fine on a 2009 iMac with a 256 MB video card. Yes, it's that old.

Be sure to watch the tutorial video on the page before doing anything, it will show you everything step by step. Installing Catalina was not difficult, but do watch the video and pay attention to it goes as smoothly as possible.

It sure is nice to have dark mode on my ancient iMac.

Oops, I forgot to mention that I came from High Sierra. I erased my hard disk and did a fresh install, BTW. Make sure you back up whatever you want to keep.

As old as this Mac is, I swear it's a tiny bit faster with Catalina then it was with High Sierra. I wonder if it's because they took out all the 32 bit stuff? Weird.

Anyone know how to view all photos in the Photos App since the tab is gone?
It does not work on our unsupported Macs and our GPU's do not support Metal which the Photo's tab requires to display

It depends on the AMD GPU you have installed
