Any idea how to enable Handoff/continuity for MBA 4,1? Mac-C08A6BB70A942AC2 is the ID. Tried with your methods and handoff doesn't seem to be working.
thanks!
Hi Jackluke, thanks for the detailed instructions and info- very best ZfrogmanYes, but a little modification for continuity (handoff) on your MacBookPro8,2 instead of "Mac-742912EFDBEE19B3" put this "Mac-94245A3940C91C80"
Any cheap Bluetooth 4.0 usb dongle should work.
Just did and with a new USB stick. Same issue. Getting the "this installer is damaged" message. I'm going to reapply the sudo nvram boot-args="-no_compat_check" and see if that's the issue. I did that before doing the install last week and haven't messed with the nvram since, but who knows? I'll report back.View attachment 871507

did you use the macOS Catalina Patcher version 1.2.0
Running a MacbookPro8,1 and handoff and airdrop aren't working.
I ran these commands in terminal
sudo mount -uw / ; killall Finder
sudo /usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c "Set:Mac-94245B3640C91C81:ContinuitySupport true" "/System/Library/Frameworks/IOBluetooth.framework/Versions/A/Resources/SystemParameters.plist"
but nothing works still. Any ideas?
I do have an updated bluetooth module I bought from eBay installed.
run the commands again, but all of them. All this conditions are met. Because nothing changed after update to Catalina from Mojave, where all that worked well. Maybe relogin to iCloud on all devices can help? How I can try additional bluetooth patch?
Yes except touching extensions string. SIP is definitely disabled )
The MacBookPro8,1 has a dual-core hyper-threaded CPU (2 physical cores with 2 virtual cores). Not sure why you thought it was quad-core. Only the 15" and 17" machines (MacBookPro8,2 and 8,3) have quad-core processors. Also, 10.15.1 has not been released to the public yet, and won't be until at least a month from now.Hi Guys!
I have a problem on my MacBookPro 8,1 with Catalina 10.15 installed with dosdude1 1.2.0
Now he says that i have an i7 dual core!!! when he is a quad core....
can you help me?
Thank you!!
oh...and if is possible....
how to update on 10.15.1? can you describe the procedure??
Thanks a lot!!
I tried again to make the installer, this time using El Capitan on the MacBook Pro in question. Using this new installer, I was able to get to the screen with the white-on-black Apple logo and the status bar beneath it (which would eventually be above text indicating how much time the installation is going to take), but the status bar would not progress past the first ~1/40, even after being left alone for ~30 minutes.Blah blah blah, words words words, a patched macOS Catalina 19A602 USB installer isn't working on my MacBook Pro 17" Early-2008 (MacBookPro4,1).
for macOS Catalina APFS is required your hdd/ssd needs to be formatted in APFS it won't run on HFSI tried again to make the installer, this time using El Capitan on the MacBook Pro in question. I then decided to give up. I'm now going to install macOS Catalina on the SSD using my MacBook6,1, then transfer it back to my MacBook Pro. Wish me luck, I guess.
I mentioned in my first post that I formatted my SSD as APFS.for macOS Catalina APFS is required your hdd/ssd needs to be formatted in APFS it won't run on HFS
that is something I hope dosdude or Julian can help you with I know many have had issues with just getting Mojave to run as there is no graphic acceleration on those models it will be like running in safe modeI mentioned in my first post that I formatted my SSD as APFS.
The MacBookPro4,1 that I own - the A1261 - uses a GeForce 8600M GT. This GPU supports graphics acceleration on Catalina, as stated in the OP....there is no graphic acceleration on those models it will be like running in safe mode
Awesome I'm happy that worked for youThe MacBookPro4,1 that I own - the A1261 - uses a GeForce 8600M GT. This GPU supports graphics acceleration on Catalina, as stated in the OP.
EDIT: I did the initial installation of Catalina with my MacBook6,1 (stage 1 + 2), then swapped hard drives and applied the post-install patches on my MacBookPro4,1. Looks like everything is working now.
An error occurred while preparing the installation. Try running this application again.
Another method of installing MouSSE is with KextutilityMinor pains on Mac Pro 3,1 with RX 580...
Could you (optionally?) include MouSSE in the patched base system so those of us that have this new setup are able to more easily install catalina?
In order for me to boot the installer beyond a black screen, I have to remove the AMD drivers from the installer.
(booted installer in single user, remounted root as read/write then moved the AMD drivers from SLE to / to get them out of the way)
Also, if we have already downloaded the whole OS using your patcher, why does the installer see the need to download the packages from Apple during the installer 'Retrieving 6 packages (8.277 GB)'?
and actually haven't been able to install it, getting stuck with a failure with 4 minutes left each time (3 attempts to install)
Code:An error occurred while preparing the installation. Try running this application again.
Yeah, I'll have to do that... Didn't realize that would be an issue, since the installer environment doesn't utilize full graphics acceleration.Minor pains on Mac Pro 3,1 with RX 580...

Thanks, it would seem it does use some level of acceleration, apparently enough that it is needed.Yeah, I'll have to do that... Didn't realize that would be an issue, since the installer environment doesn't utilize full graphics acceleration.
